Thank you for this movie for introducing me to Robyn Hitchcock. I fell in love with this song and will slowly, gradually let all of his songs, album by album, seep into my psyche and enjoy.
I know he didn't like the outcome of the album (Groovy Decay), but I still wonder why. Is it only the recording...a little too 80ies, too "flat", to little depth? Oh, well, whatever, I'm absolutely thrilled that my favourite song from Groovy Decay is out in a BRILLIAT new version.
Actually, it first was released as Groovy Decoy in 1982, complete with "ghastly mellow saxophones" in tact. It was later revised as Groovy Decay in the mid 90's on Rhino without some of the sax tracks and some remixed tracks. Robyn didn't like GD at all and it took him a couple of years to resurface in 1984 with the brillant I Often Dream Of Trains.
I started my Hitchcock obsession one year later when I bought Fegmania! on vinyl.
