I think the Classic Sonic Sprite aka 1-3K Match more closely to the Sonic Adventure Design, the Advanced sprites not at all.

No, they're still classic Sonic sprites. It's just the intro has Sonic travel back in time with the Past sign.

Don't worry, it's only for the intro. The whole point is that Sonic is going back in time (via the SCD Past post) back to the original and more awesome form.

In Sonic CD, there are past poles and future poles.

Advance Sonic (or future sonic) went past the past pole and traveled back in time so much he turned into classic awesome sonic.
