If Ottoman took so good care of our people, why did they have to give up their Circassian family names and adopt instead Turkish/Arab names, for example?And why do turkish Adigha have only turkish names, no adigha names? The change of names was enforced by Kamal Attaturk in 1930's and not by Ottomans.

The Ottomans could carless what their subjects called themselves or who they believed in. Millions displaced Ottoman subjects that were kicked out of their home in Therace, Macedonia, Albenia, and Serbia changed their names and adapted to their new envrionment. Lets not be too critical of Ottomans.
