What to do with these remaining monuments of Nazism, including Himmler's Castle and Auschwitz?
The heart says destroy all of them, they are so creepy and repulsive, as the Soviets did to Hitler's bunker and the Austrians did to his birthplace. And yet there is an incredible documentary power there that shows you what they were really like and what to watch for in future.
Lesson: NEVER TRUST A HIPPY. They are, by the way, hiding in the 'GREEN" movement now. The forthcoming fascism of the u.s. and u.k. will bolster itself with a 'green' slant.
Enemies of 'progress' will be denounced as bad recyclers. No proof will be needed. The hippies will be up in arms and as faithful as ever in carrying out orders. Save the planet?!! Come on! We have to save ourselves. The planet will be here long after we have gone. Here is the most important word in history. DEMOCRACY.
@themec Damn right friend, i feel exactly the same way. Its getting to the point where we are almost 'dehumanized' in our society for not recycling, driving a car and even smoking in public etc. I think it boils down to one thing; that humans are a strange creature that havnt progressed much, there is always a collective hostility and fragility amongst us in society. Nazis, as terrible as they were, were human just like everybody else. its just they were allowed to become the way they did.
hindsight is always 20/20...its easy to take the 'tut-tut bad nazi' line...but the truth is more complex...given the right (wrong) circumstances, any one of us become nazi-like
I could well picture Meades as a high rankin SS man gargling down the weissbier...
I like him but he pontificates a bit; however given the complete moral collapse in question maybe someone has to
@zealberg Actually, quite a lot of us couldn't become nazis - movements like the nazis traffic in intimidation and murder of those who disagree to advance their position. And people who are perpetually self-critical and self-aware are unsurprisingly usually the first to go to deportation/death-camps whenever some horrible social experiment is inflicted on humanity.
Whether exposing the foetid chaos that lies within either a bad pie or within the plasticized pablum that is the glossed-over version history, Meades is a no-holds-barred champion.
Let us never forget - fanatics of all kinds, hold them in deep suspicion.
@peppermintjohn666 I applaud him for keeping awareness of just how awful the nazis were alive, because there are still screwheads today that think the nazis weren't all that bad. The truth is they were morally, intellectually, and creatively bankrupt mass murderers profiteering on the backs of victims.
Well its not that it is just I like his contempt, it borders on ideological bigotry, You know, like when Putin says the mass rape of german wonen didn't happen. I just appriciate strength and moral vigour when I see it. The logic is erronious, Germany wasn't that different from most other countries of the time and the state appatatus was not filled with make believe vikings, the nazis were actually predominantly prudish and conservative.
That is hard to determine him within a hierachy of commentators because he is so unique, he is like this weird fossil somebody dug up. he hates every orthadoxy, eats rocks, and shits lightning bolts, there just isn't anything else like him so in that sense he is flawless. Even with decent commentators like adam curtis, occassionally there is some slipage of political autism.
was there only one episode of Jerry building or was it a series
