Actually, for new england fans out there-If any of you remember Vinnie Vincent(who replaced Ace Frehley), Hirsh Gardner played w/Vinnie on Vinnie's demo Tape for Kiss. Vinnie's band at the time we're named Warrior. I have no idea what happened to vinnie or hirsch. Just some nothworthy news.
They were poorly promoted, despite the fact that album rock stations across the USA played them faithfully in 1978-1979. Sadly, the country was moving toward country crossover and the second British Invasion that lead to the New Wave '80s. Their timing was just unfortunate.
i sang this song at a karaoke bar and so many people asked me who wrote the song i was dissapointed that only two of the 40 or 50 people that asked me new the band was newengland
Boy I remember "714's".......Quaaludes! Took a few of those in the 70's and put the headphones on and listened to Black Sabbath! New England was innovative when they came out. P.U.N.K. was my favorite song. Don't Ever Wanna Lose Ya was good too.
hey you guys should follow @John_Fannon on twitter... he just joined and word is he is back!! Performances will start this spring! He'll be playing New England Songs and new songs!
Still got the "album". I asked Paul Stanley at a meet and greet here in Dallas Texas one time..."What ever happened to New England?" He just kind of laughed and said, "I don't know who you are talking about," Dick.
I saw these lads back in 79'when opened for KISS. Man that was my first being blown away in a big stadium. I loved there sound and that awsome cutom les paul.
Nice to go back in time I was 15 then now im a grandpaw at 46. TIME FLYS so why not have fun rockin out ;) thanks for the vid........... Louisiana Baton Rouge Centroplex customer haha 10 dollars a ticket . Still got the ticket stub ;)rockon
I remember this album and seeing them open for Kiss w/ Cheap Trick at the Pontiac Silverdome in 1979. Great band with a Great sound, I thought the band was going to the top. oh well.
A couple years ago the record label had some deal where if you ordered any of there rereleased catalog you would get a glossy picture signed by the whole band , which I got . Cool
I was at the HOT SWEATY show at Maple Leaf Gardens in '79!!!! I saw there tour bus at the Fairview Library!!! They stayed at the Ramada Inn near the 404 & 401!!! My brother and his friends met them in the lobby. They said they were VERY NICE!!!
cool. I was 6 when I saw them open up for KISS in 1979 in Toronto and tonight while looking at the slides for that show (yes we used slides then, lol) I thought I don't remember a note they played that night, but I wonder if they are on youtube, and sure enough here they are. So it only took me 30 years to be able to hear them again, and really understand what kind of music they played, lol. rock on!!!!
They were really huge for me. And in the words of Joey "the lips" Fagan, "Sure we could have been famous and made albums and stuff, but that would have been predictable."
thanks so much for posting this,as i didnt even know it existed!i was searching in vain on myspace for a New England page as usual, when i thought id do a web search,,woohoo!
i have a few of the band albums, and this is my all time fave of theirs.
OMG, thought I would never hear this again! I only heard it once, on the "new" (at that time) version of "Juke Box Jury" in 1979: I thought it was great, but never heard it again because it wasn't a hit, and I forgot the name of the band so was never able to find it. (ain't Google great?) I remember on the show they compared it to ELO, and I guess the keyboards are a little similar :)
Met Paul Stanley at a "meet and greet" on the Revenge Tour here in Texas back around '92 and when I went up to Paul and I asked him..."What ever happenend to that band New England?" (I thought I was asking a pretty cool and deep question that he had not been asked before). Paul said "Who?...I don't know them." I was shocked. Thought I might have had my info wrong about the connection between the bands. Oh well...not causing trouble between the two bands...just thought I'd give my story.
saw kiss in 1976 as well maybe it was back then I saw them for the first time, hard to say the columbian gold was some good in those days, I honestly don't remember that they warmed up for kiss but I remember seeing them in concert went right out bought the eight-track
714's? We used to think he said "Certain Protiens" for supper. LOL! God love the garage bands who used to listen to the tapes over and over and over to try to figure out the lyrics.
Opened for KISS in 79. Check out NEW ENGLAND LIVE CD. Found it on EBAY. Great disk, great production. If you like the band this disk will kick your ass. They still jam every now and then.
bands performance is great...iwish their album explorer suite will be on your list too. for me it's got the best melodies ever by this band., like "serchin "....
The drummer IS Animal from the Muppets!!! Can't believe the stuff that turns up on Youtube! Never even knew this existed. Takes me back. Still got the original Lp. Off to watch 'Don't Ever Wanna Lose Ya' now!!!
