  • I love this music played by Matt Bellamy.....great!!!

  • @megadethrulez1 Agreed, it's not a song, it's the "outro" of United States of Eurasia, and this is a Chopin nocturne with some extra stuff, but you have to admit, it's pretty great, no?

  • 1. Pause this vid set it on the first second

    2. Open another tab and open YouTube

    3. Type Rainy Mood inside the search bar and click the first link

    4. Play this vid and Rainy Mood

    5. Enjoy

  • @KeTeVemCovers :') beautiful

  • @KeTeVemCovers wow, its wonderfull. i really enjoyed da song

  • Rainy Mood with this is amazing!

  • This takes my breath away..Matt you genius...

  • Not to sound like a douche, but this isn't a song. You can call it a piece.

  • thumbs up if you want matt to record the full song (4:15ish)

  • ;__;

    this music

    in combination with that footage

    ;__;

  • /watch?v=AA5gC6TR15A&feature=channel_video_title

  • C'est Chopin !

  • I can't breathe anymore, this music's too beautiful. <3

  • Matt się starzeje. Juz nie te lata, nie ma krzyków, ostrych riffów gitarowych, jest spokojnie z muzyką lasyczną :) Ale mi to odpowiada.

  • It gives me goosebumps! I love this song!

  • If anyone is wondering what song this is originally it was Frederic Chopin's Nocturne in E flat major Op.9 No.2

  • For some reason this makes me feel sad but I can't stop listening to it lol

  • what is this a remake of? I heard it in Bad Santa at the very beginning, which came out before this song.

  • @thehoeks nno its not Shaarfa i love you >:D

  • @sharfaa786 hehe..... YEA

  • this music really reaches to my heart <3

  • 5 people have no musical taste

  • OH MY GOD! or even better OH MY MAT!

  • Miserable interpretation of the E flat Chopin Op9 and pathetic that they changed the title so that millions of their idiot fans would assume it was a Muse piece. Frederic is rolling in his grave right now.

  • @jbs4em

Really, I think it sounds good, and although I'm a muse fan I recognised it the moment I first heard it on "united states of Eurasia". They never claimed to have composed it themselves, rather I think it should be viewed as a salute to an old master of music, recognising him as such. I think ol' Freddy would have been happy that his music is still remembered in the popular tunes :)

  • @aryllia Thanks for the dignified response, especially after my hilariously provocative comment. But ol' Freddy was famously very picky about how people played his music. If it wasn't played with flawless rubato he'd be incensed and generally speaking he didn't think many people should perform his music in public unless they had a full understanding of it. As much as you like Muse I'm sure you'll admit that Bellamy is no Artur Rubinstein and thus, Freddy will probably be rolling in his grave.

  • @jbs4em Ah, then I understand! Well, at the very least his poor corpse will get plenty of exercise?

  • Excellent video!

  • I just simply love how the children are killed by those militar planes :')

  • has anyone else listened to the ambient noises in this song? its quite chilling really. i imagined a soldier walking through an empty town destroyed by the war, picturing all the ghosts of the children playing in the streets, as things were before. and as he spots some survivors the jets begin their run...

  • @somofomo I imagine some kids playing at the park, then the planes came by and the children start to run for their lives but the planes kill all of them and then go away :)

  • great combination what a great video really beautiful!! MUSE ROCKS

  • Muse are so epic, you can hear them in space.

  • when i hear this song i cant handle not to cry very good song!!

  • the song is called Nocturne, and it;s the most difficult and the least in my keyboard..

  • Collateral Demage is a Cover of Chopin's Nocturne Op. 9 N. 2

  • Comment removed

  • I've heard different people play Chopin's Nocturne, but Matt Bellamy played it the best, hands down. And of course he wouldn't claim this as his own, he just added his touch to it.

  • Those 3 suckers who disliked this must be either deaf to no hear the beauty in it or are MASSIVE dumb asses =) *cheers Muse fans*

  • very good man, the clips just add to the pure chilloutness of the song (well this part of it anyway haha) (Y)

  • dude this is just the chopin nocturne in e flat. please don't tell me he touts this as his own..???

  • Wonderfull

  • I don't get it D: could somebody explain to my why does it says collateral damage? D: please

  • @TheRMartz12 collateral damage is a term which refers to the unintentional murder of civilians during combat operations. muse songs has very powerful meaning

  • wtf nocturno 9 :D

  • It's a wonderful song, truly beautiful.

  • Video accompanies poetically

  • Chopin is brilliant and Muse's rendition of this song only adds to the original genius.

  • Is this originally composed by one of the classics? It sounds so familiar !!!!

  • chopin and muse.. pretty unbeatable combination i would say

  • @mike90yt - Ain't that the truth!

  • Nobody noticed that this song is the Nocturno nº2 of Chopin? Can somebody explain it to me?

  • Thats the whole point. Muse plays Chopin

  • this part makes me sad

  • Johann? -_-

  • FRYDERYK

  • well done, but if you'd slow this video down, it would be much better! ;-)

  • omg, this album is so intellgient and cynical, oh matt...

  • @BazzTheBoss omg, you never heard of typo? i take IB higher english BTW! and I dont mean piano, and I dont care if u think my opinions are worthless, its there to be read.

  • i dropped out of IB and i am already on my way to being 490854 times more successful than you will ever be. IB is a waste of time. get a life. fucker.

  • @BazzTheBoss Just blaming someone's typos is kind of sad. Besides, you just shout something without any kind of argument except for the typo thing...

  • Fucker

  • I know not who this Johann is, but this is Frederyk Chopin's Nocturne no.2

  • I randomly clicked on this song while I was searching for another Muse song...and wow I was blown away to hear Chopin but interpreted in such an awesome way! Great piece, I love it when a classic is reintroduced.

  • the kids in the background are part of the collateral damage the destruction of innocence via war

  • Collateral Damage (excerpt from Nocturne in E-Flat, Op. 9 Chopin) :3 ^ _^ I duno I love Matt's Version better .. :3

  • yes it is

  • You should accept my video response. It's another fan made music video like yours.

  • i want to learn to play this nocturne, i like this style

  • Comment removed

  • my view is that its symbolism, you just have to have 1/2 a brain to see it. the chopin song is called nocturne, so i think muse (in the style of their album) are referring to name and sleepiness of the piece, implying while everyone is sleeping, no one is aware of the forthcoming danger, represented by the planes. the choice of chopin was awesome

  • united states of eurasia song was about uniting the world right? well that wouldn't happen with everyones consent, am i right? so if its called collateral damage, it probably about what happened along the way to world unity, thats whys its called collateral damage. people wouldn't agree and there would probably be violence like the children screaming, and the jet, just my idea

  • that's what I think is so awesome about the song. It's haunting. The calm before the storm.

  • <.< Wow, you got that out of it? You must have either thought about it for a LONG time or are just a fucking crazy smart.

  • word

  • the music is brilliant anyway

but this footage makes it even more epic

    nice one precipitate

  • Thanks :)

  • 5000th view

  • It's beautiful. Everyone knows it's Chopin but Muse have a way of interpreting music that is unique...Feeling Good, Please please let me get what I want, House of the Rising Sun. Sometimes it's interesting to see how artist interpret a piece of music.

  • I love that nocturne, and I was listening to USEA/Collateral Damage and when I started to hear the piano it was like "oh shit!! I can't believe it!" it's like really beautiful :) Nice video ^_^

  • Yeah it is very very beautiful, and I'm glad you enjoyed the video :)

  • i cant wait 4 their new album to come out! i love muse! i love thier own stuff and thier new stuff! i'm going 2 be the 1st in line! :D

  • nocturne opus 9 no.2?

  • correct.

  • lovely images, really suits the track.

  • Nice video,man.Ireally like it.

  • Thanks :)

  • That is what makes it so great. The fact that it is Chopin's Nocturne op.9. Have you guys ever listened to any other songs by Muse? A lot of them are influenced by composers. I love the classical influence. You guys are CRAZY!

  • Their older stuff is better, the new album is disappointing.

  • I actually really enjoy this piece. I think it's quite soothing.

  • I like it too but most of the songs in the new album aren't that great seeing it's Muse.

  • where did you hear all the songs?

i thought there where just two released yet, correct me if i'm wrong.

  • three songs

  • well united states of eurasia and collateral damage are played together..

however i heard the uprising and i loved it!

if muse think there should be a piece of chopin on the album there sure is a reason for that and i wouldnt judge the whole thing on that two tracks (which are played together).

  • you cant say chopins version was faster and because of that it was different!! .. obviously chopin never actually recorded anything so his 'version' couldnt have been faster it could have only been the pianists decision to set the tempo. muse new songs are slightly disappointing to be frank... this piece in itself is beautiful.

  • Uhmmm actually there's a tempo on all sheet music, you have to keep certain tempo or else you're not following the music really. (I play piano)

  • of course there is otherwise it could be played at the speed of light... just because the music has a tempo written on it doesnt mean the pianist has to play it at that tempo....matt played it slower than the other recordings..not the original music....but hey its a lovely piece of music (and i play piano as well)

  • I do agree with you now that you say it like that haha. Yeah it's a great song... I wish Muse would go back to how they were during Absolution... All their best stuff is from then.

  • @warriorzin there isn't a set tempo in most baroque music actually

  • @lookinglikeafool Yes but there is a lot of stuff that is not in baroque sheet music although it is obviously supposed to be there like the tempo and legato/staccato for example. I play the oboe and I play a lot of baroque music and first you have to decide where to put all sorts of stuff because it was considered common knowledge at the time that you played in a certain sort of way (heavy 1st an 3rd)

  • @lookinglikeafool Although Chopin was a Romantic composer, not Baroque...

  • @mcxiah Well i don't want to be too specific, but Chopin himself actually disliked to be called a "Romantic" because it implied many other composers who just liked to show off and not put meaning in their music. That, and Chopin was very much influenced by Baroque music, having been thoroughly grounded in Bach's works. People have argued whether Chopin's music was truly Romantic, or just a more modern revival of Baroque. Anyway, that being said, this is still a great arrangement :D

  • Chopins version of this song is much faster and it doesnt have the choir and what not. Yes it is Chopin but Matt did change it up a bit which was sweet. They did House of the rising sun and that was an incredible song, they did it really well so why can't they cover a song like this? Matt can definitely pull it off

  • Acttually, it's Matthew who is playing the song xD yes, i know it's from Chopin,

  • OMFG it's Chopin , indeed, now i recognize that piece of Chopin's music...oh, shame on Matthew

  • Chopin Nocturne Op.9 No.2

  • Chopin so beautiful <3

  • Beautiful =)

  • thats chopin

  • in a world without muse what would we really be doing right now

  • If the apocalypse happened right now I would want for this to be the last song i hear before the world ended.

  • i couldn't agree more

  • Totally agree - this piece is End of World Theme

  • yes, it is good by sharing some piece of classical music in songs. However, not original, but hey, rap artists do it, and they become well known for that!

    So, nice addon to U.S.E..

  • Brilliant. I love the music...Why should rap artists get to sample others music in their songs and everyone swoons and says how great they are, but when Matt adds some amazing composition to his song, you bloody nimrods are like wow he can't come up with anything original, hmmmm, I didn't see you do anything at all. Again I love it, Brilliant!!

  • Im glad it was included. It has brought a brilliant piece of music to my attention!

  • Even though I too knew and loved this piece by Chopin before I heard it in United States of Eurasia. I'm not disappointed that they included it in the song.

I see it as Matt paying an homage to someone who has been an inspiration to him (which also makes me love Muse even more). Maybe if they did that in many of their songs, then it would be kind of annoying.

I just wish more people knew it was by Chopin, because his music is gorgeous.

  • This is Chopin Nocturne Op.9 No.2

Love it. I've already listened to it before i heard it in USoE

  • No problem :)

  • Thanks for upload it
