• @BaucchTabasco that is exactly right

  • i wouldn't say it is insulting vegetarians' intelligence. in the original pitch, they wanted the slogan to be "balance your manhood" but the market reacted negatively to that message. it is implying the vegetarians are more feminine than meat eaters and in order for you to restore your manhood from your veggie diet is by buying a hummer.

at least that's what i get from it.

  • This is truly the dumbest commercial I have ever, ever seen. I hate car commercials at the best of times - this is one of the worst. I'm a vegan and can bench/squat more than your average meat eater, and I'm sure buying a gas guzzling piece of crap like the hummer doesn't change a damn thing about you - except for making you look stupider...!

  • Wow. BUY A HUMMER OR YOU CAN'T BE A MAN. WE SAY SO.

  • i liked it.

  • But...tofu is delicious! Especially in vegetable stir-fry. :)

  • great ad :)

  • I thought he was restoring the balance of his carbon footprint that he had reduced. Either way, HUMMER=EPIC FAIL.

  • Wait, this is an ad *for* the hummer?

  • "wimpy" gorillas are vegetarian

  • How doesnot eating meat make a man any less of a man?

  • @ElectricMayhem87 - It doesn't. Neither does driving a HUMMER, although lesser, duller men seem to have an uncanny attraction to those monstrosities.

  • @ElectricMayhem87 it doesnt, but eating tofu instead does.

  • Poor Hummer your future is uncertain. I wish i was a billionaire & could afford to buy your brand. I would release a smaller hatchback version with an hybrid engine still keeping the macho invading military appearance. Don't die on me yet!

  • An ad that actually calls you an insecure arsehole for buying a Hummer, me likey. No wonder GM are going broke.

  • Why would I want to drive a car that labels me as an insecure, overcompensating sissy?

    Hummer = FAIL.

  • Yes restore the balance - some guys just have to compensate I guess.

But I'd like to point out that GM is going to stop making Hummer as it's a failed brand.

  • lol... I love this! I think it's wonderfully funny and creative.

    Signed,

    A Hummer Owner :)

  • that was probably the grossest thing ive ever seen.

im not offended, but im am ashamed of how low american culture has plummeted.

  • bahahaha 'american culture', solid gold, tell me anther one...

  • lol it used to be "restore your manhood" but I guess some oversensitive people found that offensive

  • mrsguy206, that's exactly right. And even after Hummer changed the ad, they still got grief for it.

I steer clear of anyone who's extreme in their views - whether it's left-wing or right-wing. They're not exactly fun people to be around.

  • I thought this was a great ad when I saw it! Can't believe the furor which I am only now discovering. I sympathize with vegetarianism, in principle I'd be one. I don't see how this could possibly be insulting to anyone. :/ Some people need to lighten up a tad...

  • it's insulting because it says that you can buy masculinity with a car, and that a vegetarian diet isn't manly.

  • But I saw it as being tongue in cheek, it's not literal.

It's being ironic about hummers while at the same trying to sell hummers.

  • How is it tongue in cheek??

  • hahahahah awesome

  • This ad doesn't insult the intelligence of vegetarians - it insults the intelligence of everyone who watches it, and in particular, it insults Hummer drivers. For it is confirmation once and for all, from the very people who make of the thing, that these vile pieces of vehicular excrement are driven by social and physiological inadequates who are living out some sort of childish fantasy that they mean something to the world. Which of course they do. 'Cos their cars are helping to fuck it up.

  • the vegetarianism was only a badly selected metaphor for what has always sold hummers: penis size and sexual dysfunction issues. I want to see that commercial.

  • The phytoestrogens that poison soy (also used to make tofu) may actually lead to those very issues you speak of. So, the "man with too much estrogen" was present in this video in a very real sense.

I gave your comment thumbs up anyways tho, cause you are right on.

  • what a horrible ad. you'd think with hummer's income, they could afford something better than this crap? ridiculous!

  • check out the book "The Sexual Politics of Meat"

  • Great book and a wonderful suggestion here!

  • oh come on, does anybody have the REAL commercial with the original "restore your manhood" tag line in it?

They were only making fun of themselves.

  • hummers are for people with money and absolutley no common sense.

  • give me a defender any day of the week, check out my videos

  • restore the balance? sounds like a campaign to promote pollution.

  • yea, seriously. do they really think people are stupid enough to be duped into buying that when they present it from this angle?

  • This video was edited.. the original line was "Restore your Manhood". Hummer folk didn't really care for it HA HA! There is another one that was also edited to the "Restore the Balance" and it was originally "Get your Girl on". Both these pharases are perfect for humjob owners. Anyone know where I can get a bumper sticker with these phrases - to put on my Jeep? LOL Go get your girl on and restore your manhood humboys.

  • According to the statistics I just made up out of nowhere, 90% of the responses to this video are emotional ly motivated and are not based on any sort of factual evidence.

  • hahahahaha...HUMMERS RULE AND TREE HUGGERS CAN GO SCREW A COW!! tree huggers are the dumbest fags on the planet and are usually lesbian or gay so I wouldn't act all tough all you anti-hummer dicks..just accept the fact that you hummer haters are homo sexuals and move on.

  • wow, Im a hummer hater and a homosexual, ok then, *moving on*

  • its a proven study that people with no money act like hummers suck. Even though that is a stupid commercial. Hummers rule.!! Mine runs on Biodiesel a..hole. go rape it. viepovideoshmo

  • Where can I download this video?

  • Haha. Great ad. Hummer does not care about the greenies. This is just poking it into their eyes.

  • Well, it has been proved by recent studies that guys with small dicks tend to buy more often big SUVs in order to feel more complete men, as the big SUV works somehow like a substitute of their small dick. But they couldn't put this on the ad so they put the veggie lover...

  • HaHaHa Well, I must just be LUCKY!! For I've got a BIG Dick, AND a Hummer H1! How about that!!!

  • Anyone who says that automatically has a small dick.

  • Yes "studies". Im guessing you dont have a link to prove it?

  • It's funny how poor people who can;t afford a nice house, a fast car or gas for a large SUV say every one who has those things has a small dick. Basically what vlepovideotora is saying is that if you have a college education, have a good job you have a small dick.....

  • Oh, I see. 20 /meters/ per gallon.

I absolutely hate these ads. I mean, come on! Restore the balance? I'll balance you, all right!

  • Sweet,

Decent trucks, not an H1 but a blast off road all the same. Vegans not apply.

  • If he wanted to "restore the balance," then why didn't he just get an H1 instead? But then again, this is America, where flaunting your (metaphorical) manhood - no matter what your taste - is key to survival...

  • this tofu loving vegetarian is not buying some stupid tank ever. and my girlfriend gets 5 cookies to my one. if anything show that meat choker winded and cramping buying a datsun.

  • 20 mpg! WTF?

  • Man up, you pussies.

  • wait - i think i get it: both these dudes are gay, right? and they both like each other, but they're in the closet.. one time, they got drunk and kissed for a second, and now they're making outrageously desperate gestures to reassert their hetro 'manhood'.

  • Jeez. What's next ? Why don't they just make an ad where some guy glances over at the other guys private parts in a public bathroom only to go out and buy a Hummer ?

  • Sad! I think the guy with the barbeque junk would more likely be an obese lump, desperate to get some exercise. It should be him who feels uneasy at the checkout.

  • So the lesson is; Hummer... for uncertain people?

  • I am not a vegetarian, but I do not like the hummer ads. I especially don;t like the one when where the woman buys the Hummer because another woman's child beat hers on the playground...

  • Don't see why any vegetarians would get mad about this, the guy takes a bite out of a carrot at the end.

  • It's like they are so confident we are stupid they are saying "we can even turn logic upside down, rub your nose in it and you will continue to buy our crap"

  • If that's the thesis, this is the antithesis.

And here, of course, is the synthesis.

  • desperate attempt to sell these gas guzzling pieces of ass to a public no longer interested.

This ad would be cool (and actually make SENSE) if it was for a hybrid.

    Ass-wads.

  • Actually... Hummer sales have increased every single year since it launched. It's the fastest growing brand in America.
