Loved it but 2nd fret hammeron needs to be 12 instead of 11.. And it would be good for u to start off by playing the intro so we know how it sounds :) but ignore these other guys, this was very helpful
@getoff747 well this isn't my best guitar lesson video, but i have over 230 guitar lesson videos ( now in HD whith tabs ) on my youtube channel ( 50,000 subscribers and over 31 million views )...
You guys are assholes i learned Voodoo child riff at the 12 e shape not the 7th fret...same notes different strings , maybe some tone loss/gain but essentially the samE
@ptdatnurpipensmkit So you learned the song wrong? I realize there are different ways to play damn near anything, but if you are an octave off it isn't right. There is usually a reason why a song is played in a particular fashion, because it is easiest, or just because it is the only possible way. Losing tone because you can't play a song right is half assed. Learn it right, it will be harder, but will sound better, and you skills will improve more.
hi, it isn't so bad and quite helpful. Though Steve starts after the flageolets at the 7th fret. I can send you the correct TAB if you want. Kind regards, Janet, The Netherlands
Thanks for posting this! The first hammer on is on the 12th fret not the 11th ... that much i know but I'm here to learn the the rundown at the end of this intro and it sounds good to me. I'll check in later
Thay was terrible, i couldn't stand watching it "the third fret and of the third string?" you havn't gotten guitar lessons apperently (even though you did play it really good, well the parts of the song you got right at least) learn the name of the strings, that Em 'thing' is an Am chord (duh!) and at LEAST don't switch which string is the 3rd or 5th, please PLEASE DO NOT post another video, it was a disgrace to guitar players
its ok... this song is played in the first 4 frets if you want to play it the proper way!!!! still sounds good up there though once you get out of the intro you got to play the rest and its all in the first 5 frets.
The hammered note is flat, and the position after the harmonics is wrong, the notes are played from the 6th string (E), beginning at the 7th fret (B). Kids, don't pay attention to that part, and the song is played on a steel string guitar. (Artistic license, I guess)
while we're on the topic of corrections, the first set of harmonics are played together, along with the Low E harmonic, as a chord. Everybody on YT makes that mistake.Ya gotta listen really carefully.
Right you are! The way I handle this live is to use a volume pedal, striking the lower note while silent, and pedaling up as I strike the upper Eminor triad. See our YouTube sampler by searching Roundabout - The American Yes Tribute
I've always played more bass notes on the end movement by comping a bass note with every chord starting with the B bass note (an inversion of the G chord with the bass in B), but it sounds just as good without all the bass notes I've been playing and is certainly a lot easier. I don't know which way is correct as I haven't had time to research it, but thanks for the shortcut even if this is wrong and thanks for it again for sure if I've been playing way too many bass notes all these years.
Thank you so much Bobby. My father used to play this all the time when I was a kid, I would sit on the floor and listen to him play random snippets of songs I knew nothing about. This was one of those tunes I've always wanted to learn since way back in my childhood.
I love that song. I don't know what it is, but for some reason it just hits you right in the heart for some reason. A very powerful song and rift that goes along with it.
i can never figure out this kind of comment on a lesson video....if you know exactly how it's played then why are you watching this lesson in the first place????
@BobbyCrispy for further learning purposes. I know how to play Stairway to Heaven, doesn't mean that I couldn't use work on it or maybe an easier fingering, or a different chord shape. I watch video lessons on songs I know to perfect them, as I'm sure most do. His comment was that your lesson on a song is not accurate, he pointed out how you could teach people the accurate song. If you are going to put up a lesson, do it right, don't teach people the wrong way. I do appreciate what you do.
Sounds like the original minus the 11 hammer on which should be a 12. The correct way to play it, like Steve Howe does, is to play 7th fret, 5-7-5 hammer/pulloff sequence, then to third fret all on high E, then up to b string seventh fret.
It sounds almost identical, but if you want to be a stickler about it.
Loved it but 2nd fret hammeron needs to be 12 instead of 11.. And it would be good for u to start off by playing the intro so we know how it sounds :) but ignore these other guys, this was very helpful
