I don't get why people complain, the roles are pretty easy to guess (by the color above the health bars and skills they use) and the defuffs have the icons so you can also guess them.
Honestly, it's not that hard and it helps. Plus you get to hear the original VA.
@JohnnyLeyenda Well, I like to read the stories of the Cie'th stones. Not to mention that even if there were subs, sometimes they mess up the words. E.G In Anime: Bakamono = Monster, and Fool. It would be hard if you saw an Ochu and Lightning jumped in front of him, and Fang said, "Bakamono" to know if she was insulting Lightning/Claire or saying there was the monster (Ochu).

@ayumi14 it was a good games...but if you had played other good rpg before especially previous ff titles....you will find many things that not had in the game ....not said the game bad...it was good...but we won't satisfied cause many things that commonly had in rpg especially if you seen in previous ff titles we won't be able to taste it in ffxiii....wish ffxiii-2 will cover that up

This is just my opinion, but I believe grinding the mark mission 24 in Taejin's Tower is one of the best places, if not the best, in the game. You are just a few steps away from the mark, and it takes at worst 50 seconds from starting the mark, to kill, and start again. Yoy get 12k cp with growth egg. Its a simply battle and no risk of dying at all unlike this battle. There are way too many factors involved in grinding Adamantoise that put the mark mission above it. Hope it helps some people.
@jcallahan9 If you are going to do your way you might as well fight the King Behemoth and the Megistotherian at the Archylte Steppe - Northern Highplain. You can usually kill them both in a single turn with three COM's and you get 13.2k CP with the growth egg. And rather than having to re-obtain a mission you just have to walk down the path and around the corner and then comeback so they spawn again.
@TwoEyesOneVoice I tested this fight myself and it actually is a little faster. Thank you for the advice. Unfortunately I already maxed out my characters doing my method. As I'm sure everyone who has grinded is aware, it's all a matter of doing what keeps you engaged. You have to be able to stay motivated otherwise you wander off and never finish your goal ;). @13layzer19 that is not the ortoise sir. that is an enemy with 16 million health. that is why he takes so long. you would not stand even a slim chance at level 4. they are even immune to death.
@kingofbudokai That is an Oretoise... All heavyweights are known as Oretoise. And the one shown on a video is Shalong Gui, which has 10 mil health. Long Gui is the one that has 16 mil health. Surprisingly, you can take on a Long Gui using the summoning trick and poison with a fairly decent team. But I wouldn't try it with anything less than close to max roles on the 3 main roles of the characters used. Vanille's death, along with 2 commandos, make the fight easier.

@NaoSsidy : experience thats how ..and its not hard to be good when you max out all characters...your snow is only at 1900 thats probably why...finish the game and then do all this stuff...my snow is at 11830 and the rest are pretty close to that

@SouthWestShuffler There not that hard to get. my team is fang 17k hp, lightning 15k hp, and hope 14k hp). It takes me around 1:30 to down an adamantoise or adamantortoise. It's an easy 80k cp and roughly every other battle you get a plat ingot that sells for 150k and about 1 in 10 ( for me) i get a trapezohedron drop. in about 4 hours i maxed out 3 paradigms to lvl 5, got all there weapons full upgraded (lvl 99).
@Macklin77 : my people are better than yours and i cant beat it , it kills me in about 3 stomps ...are you sure your not fighting an adamanchelid they're weaker and less HP than adamantoise's ...i gave up with this game anyway i got inFamous2 now :-)
@SouthWestShuffler Just start the battle by summoning an Eidolen. It will instantly take the admantoise to the ground. spam sabatuer spells on it until its staggered. then switch to relentless assault and kill it.
@SouthWestShuffler True. I have a speed sash on each of my characters. So just by killing the adamantoise im already around 2- 2 and 1/4 TP. Then its just about 2-3 mobs of 3 things ( i like the goblins and wolf like things) and you easily at 3 TP. It takes about 45 secs to 1 min to have your TP up again to take on another adamantoise. Hell you could just kill 4-5 adamanchelid's for the gold dust drop. its like a 25% chance and its 15k gil.
@Macklin77 : Na what i do to raise my characters is i go to the top of the archlyte steppe and fight those two behemoth like things ..i have the growth egg so i get 13000 every time i beat them and it only takes me 8seconds to beat them both and all i have to do is run up and down the hill and they're there again :-)
@SouthWestShuffler Yeah. That's a great place to do it too. I did it back in chapter 11 to get all my Characters to a lvl 4 on there 3 main roles. You could easily pull CP cap in an hour or a lil less doing it that way. It's just so monotonous and boring though. After like 10 minutes I literally can't stand it anymore. Also I prefer Adamantoise's due to the Platinum Ingots and Trapozehedrons. You can also do it at marahara ( somethign like that) on bombs and get 14,400 each fight. Its faster.

@metionly Growth Egg holded by Fang I guess. It gives x2 CP. You need to finish every mission untill you unlocked and completed the chocobo mission (so 1 till 14/15) pretty easy to do all these missions tho. After you finished chocobo's mission you can ride one (!) and you unlocked mission 55 (on that roof in Oebra) wich gives you the Growth Egg, give it to your leader and DONE. :)
@JackassLamda not true, i have 360 I have defeated them all... all you have to do is summon to bring them down and the death with Vanille until it is instantly killed and a couple other sabs to deprotects etc, if it fails do it again until it succeeds, and eventually it will. For the baby ones just hit them until they die... with max crystanium and final weapons it is easy.

@drkcrstl I agree, near the end it actually gets interesting because you can do so many things. My point was, every Final Fantasy can't please everybody. I also didn't like this new aproach to make the game easier , but if you look back, there isn't many people who completely finished previous FF without a guide, perhaps Square-Enix though about this, I don't know. XIII is definently not the best, but it's not a horrible game...

@cerzzz the best final fantasy would be 7 would you agree to that? That game had a mixeture of both side quest story line. This ff has got to be the most boring in history. So much emotional crap, side quest feel gimmicky and if you don't have a guide you would never know where to level up for your gil/cp. Nice strategy :D I find that much easier and not to mention safer than switching from Com,Rav,Rav to a Paradigm with healing etc etc. Not sure why people do that.
oh Thanks for telling me that. Today I just completed all but 3 side mission (51, 63, 64) and was going to level up some more when I notice that those adamantoise were not there but long gui were. I guess I'll try these guys now with your strategy.

@TaeJinXIII Vanille's Death only works on monsters that were vulnerable with instant death such as Neochu and Adamantoise ;p

I actually like Final fantasy 13, sure story line is not like by MANY people, but i do love the gameplay and guess what??? YOU CAN TRY AGAIN IF YOU LOSE AGAINST AN ENEMY!!! NO RESPWNING BACK TO A SAVE POINT ANYMORE!!!

@13ofus Oh an Synergist, they have a trick called en-(insert element here) the synergists can put enfire or enwater on you and automatucally all you attacks are enhanced wth the element. there. happy?

@metionly Growth Egg holded by Fang I guess. It gives x2 CP. You need to finish every mission untill you unlocked and completed the chocobo mission (so 1 till 14/15) pretty easy to do all these missions tho. After you finished chocobo's mission you can ride one (!) and you unlocked mission 55 (on that roof in Oebra) wich gives you the Growth Egg, give it to your leader and DONE. :)

@JackassLamda not true, i have 360 I have defeated them all... all you have to do is summon to bring them down and the death with Vanille until it is instantly killed and a couple other sabs to deprotects etc, if it fails do it again until it succeeds, and eventually it will. For the baby ones just hit them until they die... with max crystanium and final weapons it is easy.

When Final Fantasy XII came out, people weren't happy because it was had so many things to do, things you if you fail you had to start all over, big world nanana. Now with Final Fantasy XIII people aren't happy because it's too linear. That said, haters gonna hate...

@cerzzz It was to linear for the fact that you sat there for a good 18 hours...than it picked up but all your really doing is clicking on the x button? it required not much skills at all to play the game was boring i sat on my couch with one hand holding the controller and the other hand masterbating it was that boring....are rpg so downgraded these days that they had to make it so that a dumbass like you to understand and make it easier to play? talk about not using your head...oh i guess not

@drkcrstl I agree, near the end it actually gets interesting because you can do so many things. My point was, every Final Fantasy can't please everybody. I also didn't like this new aproach to make the game easier , but if you look back, there isn't many people who completely finished previous FF without a guide, perhaps Square-Enix though about this, I don't know. XIII is definently not the best, but it's not a horrible game...

@cerzzz yea the zodia spear. lol its basicaly dont open 4 beautiful treasures that stand right in front of you ! o_O what amazed me was when i found out about sunflower sword and ... the best dagger or shortsword i cant remember its name i think its durandal, not sure.
shit to get that, kill a rare mob that spawns only if uve killed a chain of 200+ ghosts using holy spells or something.

@cerzzz the best final fantasy would be 7 would you agree to that? That game had a mixeture of both side quest story line. This ff has got to be the most boring in history. So much emotional crap, side quest feel gimmicky and if you don't have a guide you would never know where to level up for your gil/cp. What im saying is if you have made a game like ff7 take what was good about that game and use it agian.
