I agree that on the whole the rubato is on the lacking side for this sort of piece. But for Barati's posture, of course it is unorthodox-it certainly caught me off guard when I first saw it- but his SOUND is AMAZING. I would consider the angle of my bow to be generally straighter than his, but my sound and HARMONICS will never be what his are. He obiously has whatever he's doing pretty well figured out. Time alone will tell if the way he is doing it is doing any permanent damage.
If you didn't notice.... I said his Sound is Amazing! he's an incredible artist and I enjoy hearing him and learning from him (via watching him!) SO... maybe I caught YOU in a nit-picky mood.
the version for full orchestra is much better. mr. bariti is an excellent violinist. but perfection cannot trump personality.
