the Piper Arrow at 1:05 did a pretty good job actually!! haha i was pretty amazed! as for that C210 that people are talking about, at 2:35 ... I'd just like to say he was really draggin it in lol... On windy days (at least gusty for sure) i usually bump up up my Vref up 5 kias just because one good gust can really knock you on your ass. Hope no one got in too much trouble that day (minus that ultralight and bonanza).. Good video! Cheers
Next time it's blowing like this you just need to set up a little booth out there with your computer... you can sell people video of themselves like the pictures you get at Disneyland taking the drop on the log ride!
I am a 310-N driver from KMYF. Full flaps on the twin Cessna 310 on a strong and gusty x-wind is not advisable. A no-flap hot landing is much easier to manage on a day like this. He did a nice grease job on touchdown. congrats!!
Hiii.....Its Faith, a honest and down to earth woman who wants to meet new guys for dating etc if u fancy a trial run with me heheheh catch me on Play-Cam * COM
At 1:40 that Cessna 310 landing with what looks like full flaps... shouldn't he use no flaps?.. I've landed a Cessna 206 in a 35 knot crosswind with 0 flap.. worked ok.
I was finishing up my PPL training when these winds were kicking up. Though I was soloing by this time, I would call up my instructor to have him give me some wind training at Van Nuys, with the runways turned around from 16 L/R to 34 R/L. The worst I flew in was around 18 gusting to 24. I'd land at best half of them, and would go around the other half. You never knew if the wind would carry you halfway down the runway, or would swat you into the dirt before the threshold.
have you been to Bermuda Dunes Airport (KUDD)? That's a horrible experience on windy days. The runway is less wide than KAJO and there are a bunch of trees lined up against the runway on the north side. The wind is really unpredictable there because of all of the trees and buildings and other things the wind is making it's way around.

I think almost all those planes were passing their max demonstrated x-wind component, haha.

Ya no kidding... There's some crazy pilots out there. I can't imagine going up in winds gusting to 41 kts.

Poor Bonanza!

The minuma flaps you should use in a crosswind is 10 on downwind and 20 on final.

Looks like 640AM, the white Cessna. Nice flying, Mike!

You got that right. We only land that direction 5 or 10 days a year.

Nice video! Haven't check your page for a while :)

Very high risk of running off the side of the runway, especially since KAJO has such a narrow runway.
aviatortrevor 5 years ago
Wider than some but yes.

What were you flying? I was there most of the day and my hanger faces the approach end. I may have video of it.

Fun to watch... but it was more exciting to fly it! I guess you missed my landing that day... I didn't see in in your collection. It was a wild ride!
