This reminded me of a lot of some of Martha Stewart's crafts - sometimes she does things that are A LOT of work, and they are either not cost effective, or they don't look that intricate or impressive anyway . For a 50 cent price difference, I would purchase these in a store. A tutorial on how to make that whole tree would be cool.
