  • Beautiful voice never to be replaced inour time !!

  • Sounds like originl track from Jim's, Good and Country...Of course violins were added...

  • Another great song by the man with the best voice God ever gave a human.

  • My first memory of jim Reeves was in holland back in my youth in the late sixties, i fell in love with his music then it still sends chills down my spine every time i listen to it as does hank Snow , and Jimmy Rodgers

  • What can I say? meagerextent pretty much said it all.

  • I have many Jim Reeves recordings. These new overdubs are wonderfully produced. Please may I ask what cd are they available on?. I have all the original albums and cd's but I would really like to add these to my collection.

Thanks for a very refreshing posting.

  • @cowboymachito As it says in uploader comments this is from an LP released in 1978 "NASHVILLE 78" which is a collection of Jim Reeves tracks overdubbed in the Nashville stlye of that time. You may be able to track down a re-issue on cd on the web somewhere, alternately, track down the BEAR FAMILY "WELCOME TO MY WORLD" collection which contains all the ABBOTT/RCA recordings made by Jim Reeves plus a few others from radio etc. Hope that helps.

  • The golden voice of Gentleman Jim will last a lifetime. Great singer - I love all his songs and they will never ever fade. It was a great shame his life ended the way it did; but then again the Lord Jesus Christ had a plan for him just like he has for every human being on earth. I pray that his soul is in heaven.

  • Since I am 71 years old this past 9/11, I can still remember Jim Reeves and that voice of his (when I was a young lad) and then the terrible news of that plane crash that ended it all for him and his family, I was so sadden for all of us for lost years ahead. I was too poor to buy any of his recordings so I only had the memories in my head but now that I have found Youtube I listen to Jim everyday now...Thank you!!...Dr. John

  • Super voice - super song! Thanks for sharing with us.

  • Thank you, very nice redub does justice to the finest singer that ever lived.

  • The talking walls- I'm humming all the time when I'm walking, waiting for buses,

trains, friends. ...then I hear Jim's voice simultaneously

  • Jim 's voice at its best.

  • Please, Oh please, always Play Jim Reeves all time classics.Never stop. He is the greatest singer with the greatest voice. Thank you for posting these golden memories.

  • Since I am in my 70's now I can almost remember the start of his beautiful music and have always played it. Still have the old 78 RPM records I purchased, now have a lot on CD's. It is just so easy to listen to Youtube while I am on the PC.

    Thankyou.

  • The originals were a lot better, sounded more country back then!

  • Before I Died is a beautiful song. It is also the saddest song I've ever heard.

  • @sbezable Thank you for your comment. My dad was the writer of this song, one of three Mr. Reeves recorded of my dad's music.

  • The song ,geboorte plasie I hope to find it on Youtube.I have it on a LP but I cant play it because of the damage on the LP

Since I was 15 jears old I start loving Jim Reeves and I was in his fanclub. Now Im 61 and still love him.God bless youtube.

  • negramDKbent On this 45 anniversary of Jim's death (July 31, 1964), may I suggest that you look into the Bear Family 16-CD set of Jim's songs? You'll find almost everything he ever recorded (even a few Mary Carter Paint commercials!). Whatever it's selling for now, it's well worth the price.

  • It always nice to hear Jim and his voice. It would be great if RCA would release the old overdub albums from the 70's and the early 80's on CD album's.

  • Beautiful lyrics and melody

  • I believe this is the overdubbed version of "Before I Died" released on the 1974 "I'd Fight The World" LP-the original version has Floyd Cramer on piano (at least, it sounds like Floyd). I like both versions, but I always like the versions with Floyd's piano a little better. This version of "The Talking Walls" is overdubbed as well, from the "Nashville 78" LP. In this case, I like the overdubbed version a little better. Either way, it's Jim's magnificent voice, and that's what matters.

  • I stand corrected- this version of "Before I Died" is from the "Nashville 78" LP, as well, as 164will states in the header. The version on the "I'd Fight The World" LP is apparently the original recording. I love them both.

  • Just to set the record straight; the original version of "Before I Died" was on the RCA Camden Lp "Good'N'Country". The version on "I'd Fight The World" was it's first overdub, (released before the version I've posted). "The Talking Walls" has been overdubbed a number of times this one is, as I state in the header from "Nashville 78".

  • Thanks, 164will, I thought there was another version of "Before I Died" with a piano, that must have been the one on "Good N' Country" (which is one of his best albums, I think). "Blue Side Of Lonesome" was also overdubbed twice. A few years ago a previoulsy unreleased "demo" of "The Talking Walls" was released, it was faster than the eventual "Studio B" version-I believe I like that version the best---really "country" sounding. Thanks again----Art

  • Good n Country - one of my favourite LPs , I grew up listening to my parents copy , and its now in my collection ,gotta love Jim!!
