  • He trully was the worlds first troll :D

  • They were friends :)

  • I love the fact that Andy "won" that

  • Real hero on sick culture.

  • 7:00 - FINISH HIM!

  • I want Andy Kaufman into the Hall of Fame. RIP Andy Kufman.

  • You know what I'm tired of? In every Koffman video there is the first comment about how he is a great troll.

Calling him a troll brings him down to your level, he is far more legendary of a simple internet troll.

  • I wish more people could know this was all a hoax. Sure Andy didn't care if he got a negative reaction from his pranks, he just liked the reaction. But I still feel bad that he gets hate from such a hilarious joke. Lawler and Kaufman made a great team.

  • @joeseatat They really did pull off something that got so much media attention and unfortunately for Andy's career the heat that he generated was to real to a lot of people, lets give them credit and call it a work instead of a hoax.

  • @MJFelder34 I'm agreeable to calling it a work. They put a lot of effort into it. They made it very believable. Up until my mom saw "Man on the Moon" she still hated Andy Kaufman, lol.

  • @joeseatat he puts his legs straight up in the air for the second piledriver,he was clearly NOT in pain and going along with the script.andy was the man

  • @kennyparker1337 go to your trailer park before you get killed like kenny

  • haha lawler is such a bitch, he just doesn't get it

  • Guy's the whole routine was a setup made by Lawler and Andy. Everything was part of the show. But back then no one knew that, and thats what made him so famous. He could get an entire crowd riled up by simply going in and out of a ring. He was the grandfather of trolls. A troll before trolls existed.

  • @kennyparker1337 A troll? i dont get why people are saying troll.

a comedic genius for sure. how do u not get the humor here?

i remember seeing this on comedy central when I was 14 years old laughing my ass off on all these old kaufman wrestling bits. This was even b4 i even knew who andy kaufman was.

  • @jmill2828er Because a world class troll IS a comedic genius. Only fail trolls are bad/annoying. A professional troll knows how to get an entire crowd going by a few simple moves. He provokes their every thought. He also makes them laugh. A troll does imply a lack of humor, only bad trolls accomplish that. Andy Kaufman was king of the trolls.

  • Now that was heat! Awfull work, but great heat.

  • this angle is as bad as that fool Arquette winning the World Heayweight Title blah!

  • Possibly the greatest wrestling storyline of all time.

  • This is the match that they should have used as a template for Lawler/Cole at Wrestlemania.

  • He does not fool me anymore... pretty sure he is alive...

  • "....again going into his monkey routine"

  • hahaha!!!! andi kaufman got owned...

  • @respond2cowards Agreed. People were completely confused about whether it was real or not. A-hole Lorne Michaels was pissed he wasnt in on the joke.

  • Andy Kaufman in a wrestling match...

  • that is a macht?

  • lawl, kind of ironic how the "original troll" Kaufman gets into a feud with a guy named LAWLER 'eh?

  • Andy Kaufman, I'M COMING FOR YOU NIGGA!!!

  • This is fake right lol?

  • @soccer8595 Assume that everything Andy Kaufman did was an act.

  • Comment removed

  • The funny thing is Andy is pretty ring saavy in terms of the Memphis style of wrestling. (He really works the ropes well to stall, a Memphis heat getting staple at the time.) Jerry taught him well in terms of getting good heel heat.

  • he's a dumb ass he needed to get some common sense knock in to him

  • @guitarman1324ify wow you must be a clueless fucking idiot, huh?

  • When he had his head down to let him put him in a head lock. I would have kicked him in the nuts.

  • One big Tennessee dude!

  • You know its staged after 30 years but then again you cant believe it.

    Its fucking brilliant.

  • Comment removed

  • Kaufman was an absolute genius. Real cool to see the actual clips!! :D

  • best hoax ever. ;)

  • When lawler gets out of the ring... is that Cornette talking pictures at ringside?

  • Kaufman is the only comedian I can think of who also made himself into a classic heel.

  • So phony is comical. He wanted people to hate him and he got the entire south to hate him..and the cast of Taxi.

  • @dannyd1572 they hated him until the people with good sense of humor understood his brilliance. Did you hear what he said at the end... "I always thought wrestling wasn't real, but at least apparently i guess this one was." HAHAHAHAHA!! oh man. that guy has balls and he's genius.

  • Michael Cole is no Kaufman. No matter how hard Vince tries to convince people.

  • I thought wrestling wasn't real lol he wrong

  • @PCM40A3 Hahahahah yea.. exactly!

  • i would never take a piledriver.

  • @TQXPreturns are ya chicken?

  • @jaroncreed chicken? probably. but i wouldnt want to take a piledriver. knowing me i would break my neck

  • @TQXPreturns the only reason your neck would break is if you botched it yourself. Jerry Lawler is very skilled at that move

  • @jaroncreed i know lawler knows what he is doing, but im not a wrestler. i would break my neck.

  • @jaroncreed obviously, they would have rehearsed it, numerous times.

  • After the 2nd pile driver, Memphis Wrestling took off from there.

  • Ah I cant believe how amazingly different this man was. Extremely brave too.

  • Andy Kaufman... the worlds most legendary troll

  • @Sedalb

True, but real life trolls are far more admirable than the internet forum ones.

  • @subg88 Indeed, which makes Andy the most legendary troll

  • this ref is sooooo fucken terrible

  • Kaufman = genius

  • Kaufman......what a Putz

  • @funkumuch People like you are the reason he did it :) I can picture you in that crowd screaming like an idiot...

  • This was so cool !!

  • Anderson Silva? Is that you?

  • My Gym Strips Is Andys Right Down To The Asic Tennis Shoes

  • "What kind of a guy are you?"

  • Was it the backdrop that broke his neck or either of the piledrivers? OUCH.

  • im not talking about people in the crowd but everyone hated him basically, he had trouble getting on tv and booking some shows

  • back when kaufman wrestled during those years, people hated kaufman big time...

  • Come on guys, i can't belive that you actually buy this...or anything else that Kauffman made during his career.

Well, i guess that shows how fantastic Andy was.

  • IT JUST SHOWS YOU HOW dumb these fucking people really were at the time, to actually get offended and take this shit seriously!

  • why was he disqualified

  • @lovlarry He was desqualified due to the piledriver move was a banned and whoever make that move on another wrestler gets an automatical DQ.

  • hehe people are losing their fucking mind..

  • "I always thought wrestling wasn't real but apparently this one was." GENIUS.

  • That was actually Vic Ferrari

  • greatest comedian ever. there will never be another like him. rip

  • really bad slam and piledriver.haha

  • Can someone tell me if the Kaufman/ Lawler thing was serious at all? Like was the whole thing a setup?

  • @brybry19871987 It was a "work" which is wrestling vernacular for a staged fued. Although it was only known to Lawler, Kaufman and a few select others. Even today its still one of the hottest and best feuds wrestling has ever had

  • @brybry19871987

Dude has a wrestling event ever been serious? This was a planned setup and one of the biggest publicity coups for professional wrestling, ever.

  • @rekke41 I know the match wasn't serious, but what about when JErry hit him on David LEtterman and Andy started swearing like a mother fucker?

  • @brybry19871987 It's called kayfabe, all acted perfectly.

  • @VoorkJTV kayfabe? guess I don't know what that is..

  • RIP Kaufman

  • Oh yeah, a classic.

  • "Kaufman is down and maybe out....... nope his legs twitching" XD

  • this is soooo funny~!

  • Sweet did lawler spike that back suplex?

  • i think its mid south wrestling

  • i like how he won

  • What wrestling organization was that from? AWA? NWA?

  • @Rlotpir1972 I've been looking around and have had a hard time finding an answer to this question. The closest I can find is that he had a title in CWA prior to this, and in AWA a year or two afterwards.

  • @Rlotpir1972 Memphis Southern Wrestling.

  • Kaufman was/is a genius

  • fake -1

  • At this point in Kaufman's career, everyone hated him. He was wrestling woman, and treated women badly. He made lots of enemies by doing this. The whole world hated Kaufman at this point of his career.

    Enter: Jerry Lawler

Goofy Kaufman did not FRIEND UP with Jerry Lawler regardless what you read or hear. Lawler fought on behalf of women, and FOR women, on account of how Kaufman belittled them. And he nearly put Kaufman in a wheel chair.

That's what you are seeing in this video.

  • @BigORat you're either doing a kaufman like joke with your comments or you're thick as pig shit

  • @BigORat Wrong dude. They were in it together. Great stuff.

  • @BigORat I'm seeing a typical staged soap opera wrestling match that only those with a low IQ would believe it was anything more than that.

  • genius....kaufman bringing in lawler and lawler agreeing, both geniuses. great stuff.

  • This was REAL.

    My eyes don't lie.

"Man on the Moon" was FAKE.

    Lawler could have killed Kaufman.

    They were NOT friends.

I don't care what Lawler was paid to say in that Jim Carrey movie,

(Man on the Moon), this was REAL.

  • @BigORat Did you even see the previous 5 clips? Do you even know how fake professional wrestling is? Did you know that Bob Zmuda wasn't really Andy's lawyer? Have you ever heard of feuds, angles, gimmicks? Did you know that Andy's famous for tricking his audience?

Look up "kayfabe". And YES, your eyes can be tricked. It happens all the time.

  • @BigORat Read Jerry Lawler's book "It's Good To Be King...Sometimes". He uses two or three chapters to describe how the whole thing was set up.

  • @JasonL77 There are pay-offs, & corruption in wrestling & show business just like there are pay-offs and corruption in politics.

    Don't believe everything you read.

    BELIEVE YOUR EYES.

Lawler tried to kill Kaufman in this video. Kaufman made enemies. Everyone hated him. Watch it frame by frame. He dropped Kaufman on his head 3 times.

Kaufman is a fool. But not foolish enough to make an arrangement for THIS to happen to him.

I know when I'm watching a fake wrestling match & a real one.

  • Comment removed

  • @BigORat I undertand that people hated Kaufman. That's why, for example, Tony Danza didn't rejoin the rest of the cast of Taxi in Man On The Moon, but if Jerry Lawler tried to kill Kaufman, then why did they keep bringing him back? I've worked for various independent promotions in Wisconsin & Minnesota as a refferee for the past six years & I can tell you that Lawler took care of Kaufman pretty well. BTW, if watched this match frame by frame, then you have to much free times on your hands.

  • it was all a set up everything he did was staged

  • I want that photo of lawler with the mic that guy was taking outside of the ropes. Would make a sweet poster.

  • Andy and lawler were friends through the whole feud he did hurt his neck but this was supposed to be his biggest gig i mean look at this if they wasn't friends he would have already attacked,as smart as was he would be a good heel

  • Great!!!But...let me understand....Andy and Lawler were friends and they organized it all together???

  • Andy Kaufman's biggest gig was to wrestle Jerry lawler, one of the most good feuds in wrestling just imagine him today in the WWE or TNA cause i see alot of people in the wwe trying to be Kaufman like Santino, or Cody deaner from tna

  • I don't give a fuck who you are, that would hurt!!!

  • R.I.P. Andy Kaufman

    he was just too awesome!

  • hahaha kaufman is a genius...

  • "Kaufman going into his monkey routine," -Lance Russell

  • lol

  • these 2 were friends in real life

  • Kaufman was Before WRESTLEMANIA!!!!! was even Born........ R.I.P Andy

  • Kaufman was BEFORE WRESTLEMANI!!! was even Born......R.I.P Andy

  • "Did you come here to wrestle or act like an ass?" ROFL, the all-time greatest quote ever said by Lawler.

  • @gladfan1989

Agreed! And we all know Lawler is the King when he's on the mic.

  • I love this guy..in a non gay way

  • @PMunchies lolzz

  • @ 7:44, after the 2nd piledriver, listen to the old lady in the crowd: One More Time!

  • If only Kaufman were still alive, just imagine him as a Raw guest host and they bring back this feud. I could see him being booked in a gauntlet match with kelly kelly, eve torres, and gail kim, laying all of them out, then The King comes out and gives him 2 more pile drivers...RIP kaufman, you're a lot better than most of the heels that have come up since you

  • that is a nasty pyle driver! kaufman was awesome lol!

  • He actually broke his neck...it was staged and he did play it up but it was a pile driver gone wrong as he legitimately did break his neck

  • @TheMagicJester r u kidding me? damn, looks cool tho!

  • @TheMagicJester lololol. no he didn't

  • @bandit7498 sorry to tell you but he actually did crack a vertebrae in his neck. It is cited in several sources as well as the official medical reports at the hospital. A broken neckdoesn't mean damage to the spinal cord.

  • @TheMagicJester Well, I'm not going to argue with you on that one. Maybe he did. But I never heard anything about it. Hell, even Stallone broke his neck filming his last movie, so it's possible. But have YOU personally ever seen his medical report?

  • @bandit7498 Yes it is in the public domain. There is a new biography out and also Lawler in his biography comes clean and says they were mates etc and that he did break his neck etc. When you look at it on the video, it doesn't look good the way his neck bends and certainly does not look like the normal pile drivers (fake)

  • @TheMagicJester Well, the belly to back suplex, it looked as if Lawler got him a little too high in the air and Andy definitely landed wrong. It's entirely possible to break something like that. I never knew he actually broke it though. I did know Lawler and Andy were pals through the whole thing and worked it just like a regular story line. But damn, that shit must have hurt. lolol

  • @TheMagicJester it's also public domain that your mother has a loose asshole.......and it's my fault.

  • @shredder1965 Enjoy the fact that you are about to be booted off youtube.

  • @TheMagicJester Go on, get it done.....loser. TheMagicMolester is all powerful (sarcasm). Your mother still has a loose asshole, it's called her son. Public domain.

  • Andy was actually hurt, but only a little bit. They played it up.

  • Brilliant!!!!!

  • spyke: Well, there was no serious person in the ring :-) .. maybe referee, but rather not too :D

  • Man I wasn't around in the "territories era" so I missed this, but I still found Andy's antics hilarious.

The Piledriver was illiegal in those days? well, looks like the old saying is true:

    Ya learn something everyday

  • Only in certain promotions is the piledriver illegal

  • I like how people think Andy is serious.....

  • you do have to bear in mind this was back when everyone thought it was a legitamate sport

  • Damn Lawler sounds different there!

  • its an act kaufman is just harcore like that, but he was indeed injured

  • if done properly the Piledriver wont even hurt you ive been given this move by a trained wrestler and my head never touched the mat

  • It was all a work. Lawler took good care of Andy, he wasn't hurt in the slightest. The piledriver is dangerous if you don't know how to take the bump or have a jabronie delivering it. C'mon, Lawler vs Kaufman drew big money for the Memphis territory. Lawler and whoever was promoting (Jarrett or Gulas) weren't going to throw that away by putting Kaufman on the shelf. As far as being scared, Andy was just selling for Jerry. He was smart enough to the business to at least do that much.

  • Okay, maybe so. But in a later video they were interviewing Jerry Lawler and he said that he really didn't like Andy Kaufman, and that Andy seemed to want to be only a thorn in his side.

  • @Kylork not according to Lawler's autobiography. They were good friends.

  • You're right. In fact, Jerry talked about the crap Jim Carrey pulled on the set of "Man On The Moon", and it made the King think, "Doesn't he know that Andy and I were really friends?"

  • its dangers can be reduced tremendously with practice, and mostly by the expertise of the person giving them. if he just practiced taking bumps a few weeks, im sure he could have learned how to sell a piledriver =o and it was only banned because it looks really sick, when infact its pretty much the jumping wrestlers legs which take the hit :P

  • Haha even so many years later some people still believe.

  • they do it great.

  • y was the first piledriver a DQ?

  • cause back in the day the Piledriver was an illegal move

  • It was illegal because wrestlers would end up with a broken neck or paralysis. Piledrivers caused as many injuries as Over the Top rope back then. You need to keep your head below your opponent's knees and land softly.

  • Lawler is still one of my favourite wrestlers/Colour Commentator

  • Oh I Agree

  • Honestly, Kaufman took that suplex and those piledrivers better than half the wrestlers do today haha

  • as you may know that feud beteew Jerry Lawler & Andy Kaufman is all a ACT to Boost his wrestling career

  • For a non wrestler, Kaufman had great wrestling psychology. He really worked the crowd into a frenzy. So awesome!

  • I want his wrestling theme music on MP3, anyone got it?

  • You just don't get it. There would be no Borat if not for Andy.

  • Borat? Borat fucking sucks, he's just one annoying character.
