We Have lost SO MANY great artist I have written a song and posted it here on Youtube. I appriceate you posting this great classic and I hope you get around to listening to my tribute to the legends..
my parents NEVER listened to country music, but even they LOVED this song and so did i! i was probably wasn't even school age yet, but i can still remember dancing around and singing this. it has stuck in my head since i was a kid and this is my first time seeing/hearing it since then. man, u've gotta love youtube!! :)

I love this song and remember when it came out. What a wonderful voice Dan had, and by all accounts he was a decent, kind, and humble man. May he rest in peace and forever sing with the angels.
I saw him perform many years ago at Big Valley Jamboree in Craven Saskatchewan Canada, the guy was a class act, they don't make 'em like this anymore.
Does love ever last like this? Yes it does. But where? Only in song? I was married for 21 years until one day I came home to a note on the kitchen counter. There was no abuse. No drugs. Just a nice couple with two boys. When I watch this video I wonder about why things don't last. People do fall out of love just as they fall in love I guess.

I'm so sorry for what happened to you. Perhaps we attach ourselves others without knowing enough, maybe just because there's an easy out with divorce later. I finally got married in 2009 when MA law allowed it, but we're together for 20. And it's hard to get along at times, but I made that promise in my head 20 years ago.
I remember listening to this on KILT 100.3 and KIKK 95.7 in Houston when I was 5. Also Y-100 would play that song in San Antonio when they first signed on as a Country format in 1987, but KJ 97 would play it more. Now it is the other way around, and KIKK 95.7 is no more. Still one of my all time favorite songs it reminds me of the Houston and Mo. City landscape in the mid 80s every time it is played.

i dont know what it was about this era of country, but had such a crisp fresh sound and yet the sound was the roots of country. ronnie milsap, terry gibb, roseanne cash,etc had this good sound too.

@DaveWollenberg I saw him do this song on tv shows a few times and he always played the sax himself then, so it's a pretty good bet he played it on the single, too!
@DaveWollenberg Well he did sing live with a saxophone with Paul Davis, look for Dan Seals and Paul Davis on the suggestion video, it should be there.
@DaveWollenberg That I couldn't tell ya for 100% certainty, but I do remember him sounding a bit different than the recorded version, and in those days artists usually sounded different live so I'd guess he probably sang live in the ones I remember seeing.

@jamesblake25 This isn't classic, in much the same way that Men Without Hats's song "Safety Dance" is not a classic. Just because is from 20 some odd years ago doesn't mean anything. If it's crap music, it's still crap music. King George's 80's music = classic. Bebopin' = crap.

i dont know what it was about this era of country, but had such a crisp fresh sound and yet the sound was the roots of country. ronnie milsap, terry gibb, roseanne cash,etc had this good sound too.

@DaveWollenberg I saw him do this song on tv shows a few times and he always played the sax himself then, so it's a pretty good bet he played it on the single, too!

@DaveWollenberg That I couldn't tell ya for 100% certainty, but I do remember him sounding a bit different than the recorded version, and in those days artists usually sounded different live so I'd guess he probably sang live in the ones I remember seeing.

Even almost made the pop top 40, a rare thing for a country record inthe later 80s. But this *does* sound a little pop actually. And Paul Davis co-wrote this? Too cool! RIP Paul and Dan--2 of the best.
