Martinez is only fighting Darren Barker because all the other guys turned him down, and those guys include Mayweather, Pacquiao, Alvarez, Cotto, Chavez, and Margarito. Sturm, Golovkin, Macklin, and Williams all have fights scheduled, and Rubio wants Chavez. So at this point, it doesn't really mater who Martinez fights, because all that are left are no-name fighters who haven't proven themselves yet. Oh well, at least Barker has the guts to face Martinez.

Martinez is only fighting Darren Barker because all the other guys turned him down, and those guys include Mayweather, Pacquiao, Alvarez, Cotto, Chavez, and Margarito. Sturm, Golovkin, Macklin, and Williams all have fights scheduled, and Rubio wants Chavez. So at this point, it doesn't really mater who Martinez fights, because all that are left are no-name fighters who haven't proven themselves yet. Oh well, at least Barker has the guts to face Martinez.

@duane99 because he went up that weight to fight for a tittle with some one that wasn't ranked nor even fighting in that division. Tittle that was taken from Martinez. If Pac wanted the tittle he had to fight Martinez! Now Maravilla wants to fight him and also is willing to go down in his weight... but for some reason Pac doesn't want it.

If he beats Martinez, then he definitely deserves to be a champion in the junior middleweight division. After all, Martinez is the best fighter in the middleweight division. At this point, Pacquiao's promoters don't want to take any risks with Pacquiao's career. Pacquiao has repeatedly said that he will fight anybody. Pacquiao WILL fight Martinez. Pacquiao's promoters don't want him to. Which pisses me off.

Go up to super middle weight Mr. Martinez and fight Lucian Bute or Carl Froch. do like Manny Pacquiao did keep climbing weights see if you can beat bigger guys like what Pacman did. Martinez is okay but he ain't no p4p he is overrated before his fight to Paul Williams (another overrated fighter) he was no one, these boxing experts over hype guys after a fight or two, now a guy like Pac , just look at his resume or Mayweather ,Cotto these guys have fight with legends , if he beats a few of these type of guys then you can start talking p4p but for now just average.

sergio martinez, as what I know he was TKO by antonio margarito the guy who underwent for right eye socket reconstructive surgery after he was brutally beat up by Pacman in the ring. Its better for sergio martinez not to get far challenging pacman in the ring because it is for his own safety not get beat up & retire in sport of boxing. Martinez is the true pound for pound #1. Fighter/ko of the year 2010, and predict 2011 fighter of the year. Mayweather and PAC would not fight him at 154lb(they have a dsadvantage at this weight), so the options are to rematch cintron, fight kirkland move up and fight a Bute or ward. Ward would be ok, but he likes to run. Bute would be the exciting one of the bunch.

good fight for martinez. Nullified a superb jabber with head movement and counter punching. I enjoyed the fight, but martinez drops his hands too much(probably to bait the other guy in, just has good timing/footwork, or both). True pound for pound number one, NO DOUBT.
