  • I bought 7 Wonders mainly because of this video. Thanks for all your hard work, I've enjoyed all the videos, even for games I don't want to buy. :)

  • @Dsusz That's great to hear - glad it helped with your purchase! I hope you have a lot of fun gaming with it!

  • This set of videos prompted me to go out and buy 7 Wonders for myself! Thank you so much for all your hard work, I've enjoyed all the videos even if the game is something I wouldn't play myself.

  • Finally I had the great opportunity to watch this small series of gameplay. At first I was not so eager to watch it, 'cause I had plenty of trouble with "similar" games like Civilization (board- and computergame) oder less complex, but still a challenge to my brain the game of "Settlers of Catan". But havin' watched your "walkthrough seven wonders" I am happy to have learned about it. Looks like a funny game with lots of potential. Truth is: I'm gonna buy it. Thank you so much!

  • @antonausallerwelt You bet! Glad this appealed to you. It is a very easy game to play once you've played it through once or twice - I hope you enjoy it Anton!

  • I was trying to avoid buying more games this month (I've bought Star Fluxx, Ice Dice and Tichu already), but after watching the first two parts I had to stop and go to ebay to get 7 Wonders. I love the concept and the artwork is so gorgeous.

It'll cost me a fortune to ship it to Brazil but I guess it'll be worth it, just have to find some people to play with.

Now I'm holding myself to not order Flash Duel as well.

Thanks and keep up the good work

  • @MetalRufflez lol, sorry. You'll have to let me know how you do, resisting Flash Duel!

  • @WatchItPlayed Couldn't hold myself... Just ordered it =)

I'll be bankrupt, but at least I'll have my games to play (when they arrive a next month) =D

  • @MetalRufflez Well, you'll have fun seeing some of the other game modes that come with it - more episodes on the way! :) Here's hoping your delivery goes quickly!

  • @WatchItPlayed I decided to buy it because of the Tag Team mode and the "All Against the Dragon", that really sold me the game =)

  • @MetalRufflez I hope to do an All against the Dragon episode as the wrap up to the series. :)

  • @WatchItPlayed Awesome! Looking forward to it

  • I hope your kids never get "too cool" to play boardgames with their dad. It's really great to watch all of you have some family fun while teaching us all about the game!

  • @josephcomings I hope they don't get "too cool" or "too busy". Glad you're enjoying what we're up to :)

  • Well I wasn't really interested in the theme of this game, but after watching you guys play it, I'm sold. The only problem I realized was that it is a 3-7 player game. I mostly play 2 player games. I noticed that there is a variant, but wanted to see if you played a 2 player game and if it's still fun with only 2 players.

  • @oneANGRYelf I have not played the 2 player version yet, but I hear it is still fun (take that for what it's worth!), basically, you play against your human opponant and there is a third "dummy" civilization that you take turns playing cards for (some sometimes the civilization will do something to help you, other times to help your opponent). Hope that helps!

  • Great job on the video. It is not only informative but very entertaining. I just finished watching all 24 episodes of the Mansions of Madness and learned a LOT! Thanks Rodney!

  • @brainbane25 Whew, another WiP marathoner! Congrats on the watch. Hope you're not too sick of us. Take a break and come back for more in a few days :)

  • YouTube was hiding it from me, it didn't show in my new sub feed for some reason.

  • @MajMalfunction10 That's weird. I'd like to know why. Do you visit the videos from a smartphone, or computer?

  • Few days ago we decided to play board games with a couple of friends of mine, and one of them brought 7 wonders with him. Luckily, I had watched the first two episodes of your gameplay and that way I already knew how the game was played. Even though I had never played the game before there was no need to go over the rules for me :)

  • @poppijoni That's great to hear. Hope you guys had a lot of fun. Did you win??

  • @WatchItPlayed In my opinion, it was the best game we played that evening (either that or Risk) but sadly, it didn't go too well for me that time. The persons next to me were 7 Wonders veterans and not too many good cards were ever handed to me :D

  • In order to appease all of us crazy Arkham Horror people, you should play a game of Elder Signs. That only takes 1 - 1 1/2 hours of game time. If you do Arkham, Fantasy Flight has a few senarios you can look up that shorten the game by an hour or two. I saw one where there are already 3 gates sealed and a few doom tokens set out at the beginning of the game. You would still be able to show how the game is run.

  • @davidflegel I think Elder Sign is coming, we need to get Harvey back into action!

  • ACK the fact that Andrea was going science with Babylon and she didn't play the second stage of her wonder makes me want to cry. That's 9 more points! Congrats Randy!

  • @niconc2 I think she forgot she could buy the wood that was produced right on my Wonder board. A little mistake, but a big points changer.

  • I have to stop watching these. I've already bought two games that have been played :)

  • @senorbaub

    Welcome aboard ;)

  • @fastfod1337 lol, if it makes you feal any better, I bought all these games too :) (Well, except for Dungeon Run).

  • YOU ANSWERED MY QUESTION IN THE VIDEO!! OH MY GOD I FEEL SO SPECIAL!!!

  • @Ryanfinder226 You are!

  • When I noticed this morning that you posted another video, I couldn't wait to get home and watch. Nice move on exercising your right to veto on the most popular option!! LOL You also made me go out and buy this game the other day. Your kids are fantastic, it is so great that they do this with you. I eagerly await your next game! Will your wife be picking the game if you reach your financial goal?

  • @jrmorgan56 Yup, Christy will be picking! I'm looking forward to that, if we make it to the goal.

  • I've never played Arkham Horror but from what I know that would be the opposite of this 7 Wonders series. Instead of 3 videos it'd probably be 30! I know you get a lot of suggestions for games, but I'd like to see you stick to lighter type games like "Alien Frontiers" or "Survive: Escape from Atlantis" I think they'd be great videos to watch and would be fun for your kids to play too.

  • @ibeholder12 Survive is one I've been thinking about doing. I agree, it would be a pretty neat one to do with the kids!

  • Please stop this series! *

    Because...

all the games I was struggling with (Mansions of Madness & 7 Wonders) do totally provide the game experience I was hoping for.

You really make me a poor man :D

    * oh and forget the initial statement!! Keep going Rodney.

P.S.: Did someone already asked for Arkham Horror? *cough* :P

  • @fastfod1337 Nope, I don't think anyone has been requesting Arkham Horror... move along now...

  • Well played Rodney, I'm not sure you even needed help with a victory score like that, I really enjoyed this series. I'm gonna have to go and pick up 7 wonders now and I agree with PMGPSW I think its Lukes turn to be backed by the viewers heh heh.

  • @Spankletooth I agree. The next series might not be a great showcase for helping out our players, but the video after that hopefully will be.

  • Thanks for showing us this game. Great Play though.

  • @Halauris Glad you enjoyed it. We'll be back with a new game soon!

  • When explaining the strategist guild at about 9:00 you forgot to add in the -1 Andrea would get from losing to Luke. So if you picked it you would have at least gotten 7 points, not 6. Oh well it doesn't matter anyway I guess :-)

  • @LazyAnsem Thankfully didn't change the outcome, but good point anyway!

  • Nicee! Great 7 Wonders game! :D

Good game for all of you!

  • Great series as always. I'm putting in my vote for the next series...Arkham Horror!!! Please, oh, please...

  • @jward1465 Eventually I am going to do that game just so it can't be asked for anymore :) lol. It is on my "to do" list. I wouldn't mind seeing FFG give us a hand with that series, cause it would take a long time.

  • Nice series....really seemed nip and tuck the whole way...

  • @jawsvvvvv I was a bit worried that the episodes were a little long, so I'm glad to hear it didn't feel that way on your end.

  • Would have been interesting to see the scoring if Andrea had gotten that 3rd type of Science card. I appreciate the kids explaining their thinking and scoring of the cards as they went. The series was useful to go through and understand the game a bit better with all of the symbols and what they mean. I also appreciate Andrea and Luke being great sports no matter what happened throughout the game.

  • @paschott

Not much of a difference. With the third smybol she would have earned 7 points for a complete set. If the symbols comes from a card than this card would have given her another point. All in all she could have scored 8 more points, maybe 11 if she somehow could have managed to build the second stage of her wonder. Rodney would still be in the lead. He did a great job. Rodney, you shouldn't hive any credit to us viewers. You earned victory all by yourself.

  • @paschott It helps that they usually win, I suppose :)

  • Zomg stop the press, Rodney Won! O.o We sure we did the math right? =P

  • @lordbravura Spoilers man, Spoilers!

  • @lordbravura I cleaned up the cards REALLY quickly afterwards so there couldn't be a re-count!

  • I feel bad now. I thumbed up the science card as a joke. I didn't think it would win.

  • @JoshStegmaier hahaha, don't feel bad. I laughed at all the votes. I thought it was a great joke from you guys :)

  • Great game Rodney. And congratulations on winning.

Another awesome series. It was really short but I totally enjoyed it.

  • @KeiHime013 This ended up being much shorter than I expected. I thought I might have to break the Ages up into shorter videos, but once we got started, I thought it worked out okay... it wasn't too long per episode, do you think?

  • @WatchItPlayed It worked for me, an episode per age. I didn't mind the length, truthfully I didn't notice the time until you mentioned it was long. :D

That just goes to show how entertaining the whole thing was.

  • @KeiHime013 I agree. I can only speak for myself but I actually think that 15 or 20 minutes per episode is a good length. Of course, it pretty much depends on the game, too.

  • I was rather surprised to see that in the beginning ... well till next time same place same channel ....

  • @AlexanderTF See you then!

  • I would have not known about how great this game is if it weren't for you and your family, Rodney. I bought Smallworld based upon how I enjoyed your playthrough and I think 7 Wonders will follow suit. (Currently playing lots of Smallworld, QUARRIORS! and Cthulhu Munchkin.)

  • @TyphoidBryan Believe it or not, I have yet to try Quarriors. I'd like to, if for nothing else then to get my hands on all those dice :)

  • An excellent series, again! =) Looks like a fine game, a little bit similat to Race for the Galaxy (one of my favourites).

  • @GrandElemental I haven't played that game yet, but I do keep seeing it at my game store. Maybe one of these days...

  • Congrats Rodney!

I'm not sure why Andrea burned her last card for 3 gold instead of building her 2nd wonder level. Burning for gold got her 1 point, but building the second level would have netted her 7 points (from 16->25 science points minus 6 gold to buy the resources). Ultimately it wouldn't have made a difference. You got so many big point blue cards in the end you just ran away with it.

I'm eagerly awaiting the next series :)

  • @Mortimus83

Andrea needed three wood to build the second stage of wonder. Since she had none at all she'd had to buy them from Luke and Rodney for a total of six coins. She only had 4 coins in her last turn!

  • Thank you for the fine video series, as always, Rodney! I've only just discovered your video feeds, but am already thoroughly addicted to them. (I finished the Wrath of Ashardalon and Mansion of Madness videos in marathon sittings.)

Congratulations on your win, and I'm looking forward to seeing your next series, whatever you decide. :)

  • @pepster71 You marathon viewers always impress me. That's a LOT of videos! I hope we can keep, keeping you interested in the board games we play.

  • you guys rule! glad you're having fun with this. are the kids pretty stoked about dad's new career? ;)

  • @RiddleFlowOn Well, we're not letting ourselves get that confident just yet - but we are really glad we've got a few months left at least! I'm hoping to hear some good news soon about some help I might get connecting with the publishers more easily to help sponsor the show. We'll see!

  • When you have 5 cards left, there's the lighthouse. You say that it gives only 1 coin and 1 point, because you have 1 yellow card. However, you'r forgetting that the lighthouse itself is a yellow card too, so when you play it you have 2 yellow cards which will give you 2 coins and 2 points. Then, in the same hand you do the same thing with the shipowners guild. In the last hand you get the shipowners guild again, and there you do it correct. But it doesn't matter for your choice, so no problem.

  • @Ivo2357 You make a good point, and thankfully it didn't change the outcome of the game. I may annotate that for people watching later. Thanks for that!

  • Nice game! Lots os strategy going on there and you defeated Andrea......... WAIT WHAT???

  • @nhotinho I know. And at this game too.

  • Congratulations! I would pat myself on the back for helping, but I was one of the saboteurs that voted for playing the science card.

  • @mmoberly lol, you helped make it "interesting", let's just say that :)

  • When I suggested using the science card, it was a joke.

For the next playthrough, could we help Luke?

  • @PMGPSW i like this suggestion! use the (feedback) force Luke!

  • @PMGPSW Don't worry, I knew you were kidding... well I did at first, but after all those votes, I didstart to wonder if everyone ELSE was joking or not, lol.

On your second point... we'll be talking about that in a video coming up very soon!

  • Wow, I had totally overlooked the rule about 7 points for the science "set"... we've been playing with the identical symbol multipliers... glad I was watching!

  • @danno1111 Now your scientists will be even more powerful!
