  • I was great at the relaxation part, i just left out the curling into the fetal position. It's hard to do as a guy. This was my first time trying yoga, very relaxing, thank you.

  • I've been doing this routine every night for a week, it's so amazing! My body feels great and i haven't fallen asleep as quickly or slept as well since i was a child.

    i tried this last night, and found i was very calm and relaxed afterwards. however, after going straight to bed, i couldnt get to sleep for at least an hour. my heart rate was quite fast.

    i felt very sleepy the whole time, but couldnt actually get to sleep, any sugestions??

  • hey! I had that problem the first few times I did this, but found I got use to it. Lying on my back and breathing in slowly and gently helped too.

  • @clugalugs People cannot get to sleep when thoughts are running through their mind constantly. When you practice yoga, your mind can become calm and at peace, enabling you to get deeper sleep and better rest. However, awareness and alertness increases by practicing yoga, and this can give the feeling that you are actually more awake. Continue the mental practise of yoga whilst in bed, i.e. allow your mind to stay gentle and quiet, do not be anxious that you are awake still,

  • @clugalugs and focus your attention on your natural breath, in and out of your nose, and also move your attention around your body, relaxing each part. Do not give any thought to sleep, dismiss thought and focus on the present (that is, the breath, and the sensations within your body. Your thoughts are concerned with future and past. Ignore that. Be with the present. Breath, and body).

  • @clugalugs Your mind is not thinking, so you are resting your mind. Your body is not active, so it is resting also = the benefits of deep sleep. A true yogi never sleeps in the conventional sense, but is aware whilst resting the mind and body deeply.

  • the best treatment for insomnia would have to be chiropractice medicine, however I have found that lack of flexibility leads to a host of health problems. The more flexible you are, the healthier you are.

    Both Indian Yogis, and Chinese Daoists have a saying, the amazing thing is that they came up with it being geographically separated;

    "pliability is the characteristic of a baby, stiffness, is the characteristic of a corpse."

  • I suffer from terrible insomnia and I'm used to dread nights and the endless hours of laying in my bed, wishing I could sleep.

    I've tried this for a couple of weeks already and, whenever I do it before going to bed, sleeping comes much easier.
