try letting it go as quick as the screen goes out

or if that doesnt work, try to keep holding the power and home button at same time for 20-30 seconds, hope this helps

When I hold shift and click restore I am not given an option of what to choose. I can't select the 4.2.1 restore. Is this because I have a MacBook? The only option I have says something about restore to factory settings. Is there something else I should do since I'm not running Windows 7?

@Simplyshazii everything is basically the same. 1:33 - 1:52 doesn't apply to Mac users. Just open up redsnow. Obviously download Redsn0w 0.9.6rc16 for Mac (look for his "download links" under the video). Also @ 6:33 he clicks "shift" use the "option" key instead to browse and find "iPhone 3G Custom Firmware 4.2.1 8C148.ipsw". Place the three files on your desktop for easy access.

I've checked the video, but how I know which firmware it is in and baseband I have.

My guess is that the firmware is 4.1 since that's the version I see when I want to fix it in iTunes.

Downgrading wont work either. It's an iPhone 3G stuck in recovery mode.
