I loved Mega Man 1 through 8. Mastered every one of them and to this day every so often I make sure to go through the original 3 (my fav's) and beat them. In fact I even spent $150 on the MEga Drive ports of these games I love them so much.

Mega Man 9 was crap because yes it was stupid difficult. It was just one cheap shot after another. The way the difficulty is implemented is just lame.

This may be controversial, but I think that Megaman 9 is actually BETTER than Megaman 2 or 3. The weapons are just so darn useful. It's probably the best selection of weapons since Megaman X.

I enjoyed 10, but it wasn't as good as 9.

I know its not worth comparing them, but as someone who didn't play Mega Man 2 or 3 when they were new and only just played them recently... Mega Man 9 is the most balanced, difficult (for good reasons), and enjoyable Mega Man game I've ever played. Minus all the extra features and fluff... I still think its the best.

TOO FUCKING EASY. The last level is the only one that is hard, damn. Get it right people. you do concrete man first, then all the others fall into place, its incredibly easy, I beat all the other bosses several times with just the mega buster. Galaxy man is also one of the first bosses one should tackle.

@lophatjello Quick Update If you have the new Mayflash NES/SNES for Wii Remote Wireless Controller Adapter (mine came with the DB-9 plug to 7pin NES Plug Wire when I purchased it from Playasia(dot)com) to use any SNES and NES controller as a Wii Classic Controller (and you can't get more classic then SNES and NES controllers) so you can play Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10 with a NES Controller or in my case a NES Advantage for Turbo (and you only need one of its plugs) Thank HVGN

The description here of MM9's difficulty is spot on. It's definitely a hard game, but as he said, it's because of your own carelessness. That just means practice makes perfect! Once you figure out the puzzles, and develop the right control skills, overcoming the more difficult parts of the game becomes ridiculously satisfying. This is what made Mega Man 2 so wonderful, and it works here too. This game was definitely NOT phoned in.

i love games that make you get better by dying! that's one of the reasons why i love monster hunter. those games trained me by getting my ass handed to me untill i learned to observe mosnters, read their movement so i know when to dodge and when to attack and play strategicly. dying and then learning from your mistakes is sooooooooooo much better then watching long, borig tutorials. and both megaman and monster hunter were created by capcom! coincidence? i think naht!

Not hating on mm I'm a big fan of the series and character but saw your review and looked at boxart for mm6, wth capcom why does mm have a rocketpack and happen to be in an errily similar environment to sparkster in rka (ie castles and medievil setting) that's rka setting not megaman, yes mm came about before sparkster but if sparkster suddenly got mm powers it would be the same kind of thing ie wth, same reason I hate sonic and the black knight, I don't hate sonic but yeah that's an rka thing.

i've kinda been a mario girl and still am, but recently, brentalfloss has gotten me into megaman, especially mm2. also because of him, my favorite robot from mm2 is bubbleman, although many people say he's weak. it took me what felt like forever to get through his stage, though, especially trying to get over the falling platforms, so i just used time stopper to get across... y'know i could go on and on about this, but character limit won't let me!

The only thing I didn't like about this game was the really uneven difficulty. Most stages were pretty easy, except for ONE section of absurdly difficult platforming. It would have been nice for the challenge to be a little more spread out throughout the stage.
