I think she is capitalizing on the possibility of Obama becoming President - this book is slated to debut during the time of the inaugural. It would benefit her financially to skew the debate and for Obama to be elected - the measures people are taking to ensure Obama is elected is staggering - I guess they don't have enough confidence that he could win on his own merit.

There would be a much different scenerio if Ifill had written a pro-Bush book. Can you imagine a right-leaning moderator/journalist writing a book about the stunning McCain campaign?

Also, Ifill recently wrote a fawning cover story on the Obamas for Essence magazine. The title? The Obamas: Portrait of an American Family.
