  • U KNOW THEY HAVE THIS MOVIE & ALSO 300 & TROY ON BLU-RAY ONE PACKAGE WITH 4 DISC FOR ONLY $15

GET IT FROM AMAZON IS FUCKING WORTH IT FOR $15.. 3 HISTORICAL BIG & EPIC/WIDSCREEN MOVIES & .PQ & AQ ON BLU-RAYS IS FUCKIN AMAZING ..I GOT ONE!

  • its no words, just a way of raising morale by making war cryish like noises.

  • what where greeks saying at 08:03?

    I can't understand

  • @RoCop09 "Enyalios" That's a sort of chant of war. According to some commenters here in Youtube, it's an alternative name for Ares, the greek god of war.

  • @haveajerk

    thanks you very much :)

  • This is probably the most historically accurate recreation of any ancient battle in film. It's too bad that the rest of the movie was such a mess.

  • this is probablyt the historian movie which depicts the outfits and equipment most correct, the other movies like troy for example feature fucking futuristic weapons and armor with fucking marbles and diamonds... this is the real shit.

  • Granicus-

    Issus-big speech(like here)

Gauagamela-speech told men to stay disciplined and follow orders swiftly, out flanking on mac left, but told to march silently

  • At least this movie is more historically accurate than 300 :-)

  • ZUES BE WITH US!!!!!!

  • @p2spann its spelt Zeus, I would spell his name corectly mister. don't want a lighting bolt hitting you ey?

  • When they advance and shout their battlechat/cry what does it mean?

    et te carlos?

  • @ColdRicki they use it to keep the troops marching at the same pace

  • @TheBoricuaJohn I know what it fucking does... can you read english?

  • @ColdRicki it has no real meaning, if anything it means "march at steady pace"

  • @AzariahKyras thank you

  • SO PROUD TO BE MACEDONIAN!!!

  • Why Darius didn't just fight the slow moving heavy infantry with a large amount of missile cavalry is beyond me. Then again.. I think Persia did not transform into a missile cavalry heavy empire until the Parthians came in from the east?

  • @effigyoflight You got it. The Persians relied on chariots and vast numbers of infantry to surround and flank. Mass mounted archers wouldn't come to the Achaemenids or the Seleukids, the Parthians, being the descendents of nomads, were the first Persians to use and abuse this tactic, much to the Romans' chagrin.

  • @Anonie324 Yeah, poor darius haha.

  • @effigyoflight Actually the Persians almost succeeded in breaking the phalanx, several Persian units even managed to set fire to the Macedonian camp. The Persian army collapsed after Alexander's cavaly outflanked the Persians and charged straight for Darius, who then fled. Had Alexander not done that the Macedonians would have been wiped out

  • Omg,such a sad movie =(((

  • @milanTHErocker How so?

  • @milanTHErocker Our whole history is sad we conquered the world and now greeks are stealing it from us :\

But the truth is with us There is one MACEDONIA!!! Alexanders army descender live in Pakistan on an isolated wally with isolated culture and language similar to the Macedonian (NOT GREEK AT ALL)..

History will repeat Macedonia will be united again :))

  • @GorgiKocoMK Dude, since I'm a friend of Macedonia(I am from Serbia) I have to tell you with a heavy heart, that the modern day Macedonia has nothing to do with Alexander The Great nor the Macedonian country that was founded by Phillip the 2nd.The only similarities are the geographical placement of both countries, that is it.I have no intention of starting a flame war,but you are Slavs, like us Serbs, and Greeks are Greeks, and Alexander was Greek. =/

  • great persia.

  • Love this movie and I have no idea why people hate it!! Many parts I love in this battle. Such as when they perform the phalanx formation, when Darious sends the cavalry and infantry (9:05 - 9:10) that's the part I love! Part of the speech (6:30 - 7:22) And the short bit after it. But at 8:33 does a general shout out conquer your fear?

  • @TheModernMovement I think people hate the way the Irish actors don't try to hide their accents. In other movies Colin Farrell put's on a different accent for the character he's playing, not sure what accent you could do for an acient person though as no one really knows what they sounded like ?

  • @CMob09 The Irish accents were intentional. Ancient Macedonian was a dialect of Greek and to urbanised Greeks it sounded rustic. Stone wanted a similar relationship between Greeks and Macedonians (since Irish accents are presumably considered rustic compared to English) hence why Aristotle and other Greeks have English accents and Macedonians have Irish.

  • @TheRhinehart86 Macedonians have a Macedonian language search for huza and Kalash tribes in Pakistan the end of Alexanders army they consider them self Alexanders army descender.Even Greece accepts them.More interesting they speak language similar to Macedonian. They call there language Brusharski. They have very similar traditions and music with traditional Macedonian, not with the Greeks. We have some similarities in language exp.Come heir Ela edo (gr) ela ovde(mk). But our language is Macedonian

  • @GorgiKocoMK Ancient Macdonians were different to modern Macedonians. Ancient Macedonians were Greco-Thracians, modern Macedonians are descended from Slavs and Bulgars who migrated there in the 9th and 10th centuries. Extant written inscriptions dated to ancient Macedonia and the Successor Kingdoms demonstrate that the language they spoke was related to Greek and different to modern Macedonian. Thats not to say Macedonians arent Macedonians, just different people who live in the same region

  • Best Histrical Movie I HAVE EVER SEEN ! AWESOME ! We must thank great director&producer OLIVER STONE for this great work !

  • I saw the theatrical version and thought it was a terrible movie. But a few years later I saw this "Revisited" version, and it is definitely far superior!

  • LoL 1:06

"Hurry hurry... think something, whatever... tell them first thing that come to head, they will believe it LOL"

  • 6 slavs didn't fight for the gloorrryyy of greece

  • fuck of.... you are a teutonic pig

  • @mateo8069 You are english pig.

  • Skomentuj ten film... Slavs are the best

  • Comment removed

  • Macedonia and Alexander was and will be a GREEK.This is a message to tha history thieves of Skopiej (FYROM).From a greece.

  • A really underrated film.

  • they're saying enyalios, it was the name of the war god ares before

  • Look a those armor and shields boys. That's what they looked like for real. They didn't look like some polished ultra hollywood stylished swords like in troy, where the swords are shaped fat in the shaft, then in the middle thin and at the end sharp. Didn't look like that! maybe 150 AD. but not fucking 1500 BC! And for gods sake, they didnt use gold in their armor at that time. This is the real deal, look at the armor, its dirty, its not very stylish. And they have small shields, round and rusty

  • what do they shout when they start to march?

  • @lUnseenSniperl it's another name for god Mars someone replied to me but i cant remember

    "Efydalios" ???

  • @elasolezito it wouldnt be mars cause thats roman, their equevelant was ares i think

  • @lUnseenSniperl yes i mean Ares i said it in roman

  • @elasolezito ok thanks for your help

  • Part 2 SUCKS!

  • I must say alexander was like hitler. A GREAT MILITARY MASTERMIND but alexander was so full of himself. he named every city he conquered after him.

  • @KingsofSparta Hitler a great military mastermind? hmmm..ok...bear in mind the Egyptians welcomed Alexander as a god and liberator, wouldn't you name cities after yourself if you were in his shoes/sandals?

  • @black00dice no alexander declared himself a god

  • @KingsofSparta No, actually they saw him as a god or atleast a demigod maybe herakles

  • @black00dice no he declared himself a god. its in the history books mate

  • @KingsofSparta He declared himself a god after the Egyptians believed him to be one. So you're both right.

  • @KingsofSparta hitler was a fairly shit commander, he had target fixiation and poor timing, the commanders under him were good but not hitler

  • @koroush2007 Skopians always say the same stupid shit. Italian city states fought each other but that didn't mean Milan and Venice peoples weren't Italian. Also keep in mind that FYROM lands are mostly in Ancient Paeonia a land which Philip himself conquered after being harassed by those peoples.

  • What does the Macedonian soldiers chanting, while advancing to the approaching Persians? They're saying something while marching can;t get a good hear about it. =D

  • "You have a strength borne of your hearts !"

*screen shows guy pissing his pants*

I loved the way they intertwined a humorous moment with the gravity and epicness of Alexander's speech! :D This was my favorite battle of the movie, and one of my favorites of ancient history.

  • @HammerHeadHunter1 Actually that's not humor but fact. Whenever you find some sources about battles in the history of mankind written by people that fought in these battles you will find reports about men that were frightened to death before or in a battle and lost control over their mind and body-functions... and heck: who of us wouldn't? Facing thousands of enemies and knowing that this could be your last day...

  • 9:14 - 9:30 my favorite part

    Proud to be Macedonian :)))

  • @koroush2007 Persia never invented the human rights charter. It was a simple autocratic empire, one of many such empires in history.

While the Greeks invented the concepts of freedom and democracy (only for free adult males, yes, it would take the 19-20th centuries for freedom and democracy spread to women and former slaves). The Greeks were the most advanced civilization in the world at the time of Alexander, their victories over Persia showed that.

  • why there aren't any subtitles?? ç___ç

  • @laudica2204 Because we're prejudice.

  • how many of you knew that alexander was left handed, thumbs up if your left handed too

  • 4:50 dude...

  • All I can say is, A fantastic scene.

  • the impression i had is that the battle was at arbela and THEN alexander caught the fleing persian army at gaugamela...i don't get this am i wrong?

  • @boss180888

They are one in the same. Arbela is the name that has been used in recent centuries, Gaugamela is the more modern name.

  • @tazgrento thanks for the info man.

  • "be brave men" fuckin ey

  • what are the macedonians saying while they are marching at 8:01

  • @ApostolosFilms If I am not wrong, they scream their warcry which is "Alalalai", according to what I have read in the "Alexandros" novel by italian historian Valerio Massimo Manfredi.

Bombastic speech, it fills my heart with glory and prowess. Greetings from Argentina.

  • probably the first and only historically accurate movie that ive seen in terms of tactics like the mouse trap, Alexander riding off to the side of the battle, the left flank almost collapsing.

  • @koroush2007 thy did get one thing right, alexander did endeed have a picture of medusa on his armour

  • i'd feel pretty safe with one of those huge spears

  • @TheRugbyfullback who wouldn't?

  • @koroush2007 I agree that if Cyrus the Great or Darius the First was there the battle would have had a different outcome. The Persians may have won. Even if they didn't the outcome would have been different and Alexander's army would have suffered heavy losses. Keep in mind that Alexander outmaneuvered the Persians.

  • @koroush2007 I will agree with you that Persia was civilized, but it was not more civilized than greece. Also, this movie has some parts that are historically inaccurate like you said. The Battles of the River Granicus, Issus, and Guagemela are merged into this one battle. But as a whole, it is accurate. Alexander did have a funky personal life. The Macedonians were outnumbered 5 to one (240,000 Persians vs. 47,000 Macedonians) at the Battle of Guagemela, In all, this movie is accurate.

  • i wish it was brad pitt instead of colin farrell

  • ZEUS BE WITH US!!

  • Could anybody briefly state the differences between the 2004 and the revisited version? I'm particularly interested in the relationships between the characters... are there any scenes added or did they just endure the battle scenes? Thanks! :-)

  • the best greek hero.

  • The battle of Gaugamela has been one of the most brilliant victories in history. Starting with Alexanders choice of the battlefield. This was one of Alexanders typical "all or nothing" tactics. If military genius and luck meet an ignorant enemy the ignorant will loose.

  • question; is that some restored persian tongue, modern persian, or like arabic or something? "lol they are brown people so they must speak arabic lol!"

  • one of the best fighting forces ever assembled! many forget that many of these men conquered thrace, greece, illyria under Philip. and it seems that Philip and his son were the only one who truly 'got' the Pike Phalanx. except maybe Pyrrhus the Eagle

  • hahaha.is funny when general see the boy make pipi, hum:):)but i know is a war he got fear, love this movie, alexander the great,

  • thumbs up if the opening was all sorts of epic

  • 7:48 Always gave me chills. Respect to Macedonia, Greece and Alexander's Hellenistic world.

  • What was going at 4:40?

  • @TheGreatOda he pissed himselfff

  • Alexander..the Greatest of the Greeks..Too bad the fyromians cannot steal our history! The world sees ;-) Macedonia is one and is in Greece

  • I wonder how Alexanders phalanx would of fared against romes finest cohorts and generals!?

He had few equals in thousands of years of history!

    Yet, men still defied him.

  • i didnt love the movie, it was more about his personal life than of the battles, which is wat iwould prefer.

  • alexander was the best general the world has witnessed

  • Cause it waas mostly conscripts in tehe persian army that havent seen war before.Macedonian army are well expierenced and well equiped. The only great threat were the elephants that were used.

  • @jwjm92 what elephants, you mean war chariots?!...at Gaugamela elephants were not involved.

  • @Kamadeva01

Yeah sorry getting mixed up with the jungle battle what they had.

As the spartans said You have many slaves but few warriors. XD

  • Great battle scene but maybe a little confusing if you dont actually know how the big man wont the battle. Luckily, I know...

  • @SpartanLeeds more like 100,000 tops.

  • i luv the way he got on his horse at 0:50

  • why did they kill the poor animal? to look into her brains? o.O

  • Persians always getting their asses kicked...

  • 6:30 - 7:22 EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • alot of people hated this movie but i really like it because of the historical accuracy, especially in the battle. seems the majority of movie goers this day can only enjoy movies with fancy CGI and fancy fight scenes, not real nitty gritty stuff like this

  • @Thongger i wish you were right but this movie was pretty trash man they focused too much on the controversies surrounding his life instaed of why the man was great

  • @Thongger this scene right here was the best

  • @stump229 yea, although I guess it was trying to show how Alexander became such a great leader of men despite having such human flaws/traits in his character. This scene was also awesome because it didnt show Alexander simply cleaving his way through thousands of men single handedly, but rather it showed him as an equal mortal on the battlefield who could just as easily been killed as any other man

  • TO BAD Memnon wasent att gagamela in taht case alexander would have lost but a valiant defete bequse memnons force is much biger true story

  • @painappele Why do you say that? Alexander defeated Memnon twice. In Granicus and Halicarnasus. Although he was certainly a much better genaral than Darius, or any persian.

  • You FYROM people dont even know what you are and you want to be called Macedonians. I bet you dont even know that the Ancient Macedonian Kingdom of Karanus and the Argead Dynasty and the original macedon was located between Epirus, borders of Thessaly and borders of Thrace. That was the land the Macedonians ruled before and after Alexander.

Now if 4-5 families in FYROM have macedon ancestors and thats the reason you want to be named Macedonia, its like calling all Greeks Turks.

    Just saying...

  • @Premoguys But Greeks are Turks!

  • @Mehow80

Greeks are Greeks. turks are mongols and

    you are a monkey:)

  • @kryptia1980 And you are an idiot unable to see obvious irony =)

    Good day Sir.

  • @Mehow80

1)i might be an...idiot, but at least i am not a monkey...

2)mayve you shouldnt make fun with national matters...theese things are very sencitive for us

    good day to u too

  • Comment removed

  • Alexander the Irish? Alexander the 'alright'? Alexander the raving gay? we'll never know...

  • despues de ver esta pelicula me da ganas de jugar Rome Total War

  • Breavehurts.we'll fight here in gaugamila.and glory.of Greece.omg.even thought here in movie the american production say it.whom americans make this propaganda.but leave that fuckng movie.if you'd check a documentary in national geographic or many others.you ll see that the historians are talking about Greek Macedonians.the scopians didnt even exist the century of alexander the great.the scopians came out after 6th century after Jesus.FYROMonkyedonians.stop that fucking bullshit.eat shit and die

  • One of the best filmed battles in the history of swords-and-sandals movies.

  • who would win..Spartans against the Pasthuns???????

  • If i could go back in time, i would certainly go to one of this battles ... from a distance of course, it must have been the most epic thing ever

  • @Charlie135i You would not see anything from a distance, I believe, because of the dust and all...

  • Proud that my papouli is from makedonia proud that is was born there to =) My papouli would be proud if he lived long enough to see this movie.

  • read levkowits mary

  • SPARTANS, TONIGHT WE DINN. . . . oh wait, wrong movie XP

  • its not an exaggeration, read about famous "Expedition of 10.000 Greeks" - Greek mercenaries hired by Persian satrap against the emperor. After Greek charge half of Persian army escaped. It's not like North Korea winning against USA because Greek army was superior in training, morale and organization. Good example would be rather Israel conquering all Arab countries.

  • just imagine an f15 on this time

  • @freshprincejordan It'll just get shot down with arrows.

  • @CAESARS1972

    not true

    it is just exaggerative number

  • WHY IS EMBEDDING DISABLED??!!!

  • The Battle of Guagamela is truly one of Alexander the Great's greatest battle. Outnumbered, with no natural protection like the Greeks at Thermopylae(meaning the Persians could surround him), and with stretched resources. He managed to successfully defeat the ancient superpower of the time. Its like North Korea winning a knock-out victory against the USA today. The strategic gain of Guadamela was very very big indeed. • @HistoryCollaborative You wish.

  • @HistoryCollaborative

Not to cast doubt on you, but I think that they were more evenly matched than that.

  • @HistoryCollaborative lol that analogy is so shit, but nice try.

  • @PoetsLight there was no analogy... the Thermopylae reference was simply to say that it didn't have an easily defensible. You really need to learn the meaning of words before you try to use them.

  • @Historyisthekey Hey dipshit, learn to read the comment I'm replying to before you reply to my comment. The Thermopylae reference is not what I was referring to.

  • @PoetsLight you must have zero self-confidence if you have to insult strangers via the internet.

  • @Historyisthekey And you must have zero social compass if you can't see how pretentious your first comment was, which was why I insulted you.

But hey, good job admitting you were wrong by avoiding the original topic.

  • @HistoryCollaborative I think you are wrong, Alexander had 47000 "well-trained " and "excellent-equipped " soldiers, whereas the majority of Persian army are peasants who were "forced to go to battle" "no training " and "terribly equipped ". It's definitely a great victory but the balance of power is not that of North Korea and America. More like Britain or France and America

  • @HistoryCollaborative I wonder who wrote that

  • @HistoryCollaborative

Not to knock on your excellent praise of Alexander, NK probably has more in common with Persia than Greece. NK has an enormous, poorly trained army. The U.S. has a smaller, but highly trained and well equipped army.

  • @HistoryCollaborative Goes to show you how great the Phalanx formation was. The Persians had alot of soldiers. at least twice the number of Machedonian/Greeks. The machedonians were better armored and the Phalanx is practically unbeatable from the front. hard to beat a massive wall of 20 foot spears. ofcourse the Romans flexible legions were eventually able to beat it though.

  • And BTW Darius was a great leader and really not bad commander. His preparations for battle of Gaugamela were considerable. Simply there was no other war genius except for Genghis Khan who could match Alexander. For centuries there was no such leader and commanders were studying his tactics. Even Hannibal or Scipio Africanus were not so great as him.

  • This is the best battle scene made ever. It was prepared for 3 months with real phalanx training. The discussion about christian vs muslim conflicts here is pointless. At the moment there was no christianity and no islam. Yes he was Macedonian but they were more connected to Greeks and they were speaking some ugly version of Greek language. Otherwise how could he take lessons from Aristoteles?

  • @lukaszrzepinski

macedonians are greeks. and their dialect wasnt ugly. they were speaking dorian greek. very simmilar to the ionian dialect of athens. well know as koini (common). the differences were very small. for example

    ΘΑΛΑΣΣΑ OR ΘΑΛΑΤΤΑ =SEA

  • @nevermore21R but alexander was macedon, not greek.

  • persian were Zoroastrian it that time not muslims study a little history.

  • @theworldisfucked1

hey dud you don't know anything about history nothing nothing.

persian were not muslims in this time they were Zoroastrian the first religion who worshiped one god instead of worshiping hundred of gods in greeks.and as i told you greeks themselves ruined their own country because they had never become united.you should study history a movie can not be good reference for talking.

  • @theworldisfucked1

Really persian invaded to Greece hundred of times i think you have the same problem as your historian Herodotus who exaggerated everything. 2000000 persian against only 300 Greeks is it reasonable?

and finally if you know about history Greeks themselves ruined greece not persians.

  • @theworldisfucked1:

I agree about the koran, but remmeber, in those days IDRAEL was as muslim as persia (as far as the greeks were concerend.

Just because they created a little "spliner group" called jews, doesnt mean they aint persians (cus they were persians before they were jews).

Brilliant film, though - one of the best ive ever ever seen !

  • @theworldisfucked1

Is it not happening, again, today ?

The persians (muslims) and egyptians (jews) - are they not destroying our lands, by menas of deception, simply because their men cannot fight ours ?

Ask yourself, and look around you - their eyes will tell you, all you need to know !

  • Fucking AWSOME film.

I bought this on DVD, and must have wathed it 10 or 230 times, all the way through.

One of THE best films ever made, definitely !

  • why didn't show Alexander the great burn Perspolis to show how civilized they were?

  • This is a movie base on story not history. It is so funny that he said Persians fight because their king told them to do this means that It was not important for Persians to defend their country against Greeks who invaded to their country.so who fight for freedom Persians or Greeks????

  • fucking lier movei..artistik...those macedonian was just thrak and albanian nothyng to do with greeks and with slavs..

  • if you guys r wondering why the macedonians didnt use archers is because they thought it was a cowardly way to fight in battles which it was

  • Technically Macedonia is not Greek, in theory it is, they lived on the north of the helade, in frontier with helade, so Macedonia wanted to be Greek, but they were another civilization. Anyway the greeks considered the Macedonians barbarians. IF YOU HAVE A DIFFERENT OPINION DON'T RESPOND WITH ATTACKS AND TROLLING.

  • in a huge battle arrows ruin everything

  • HOW COME VARDASKIANS WANT TO CALL THEIRSELVES "MACEDONIANS" ??? THEY NEVER FOUGHT THAT "BAD" LIKE MACEDONIANS IN HISTORY........ONLY THE GREEKS HAD THE STRENGTH TO FACE AN ARMY 20 TIMES BIGGER THAN THEIRS....(IN EVERY ANCIENT BATTLE GREEKS WERE MUCH FEWER THAN THE ENEMY...) EVERYBODY ELSE WOULD SHIT THEIR PANTS OFF..................

  • @salonikiosgre exeis adiko sibatrioti...

  • Strange how europeans glorify Alexander who killed and plundered and in the same way critical to ottoman empire.

  • macednonian FREE Man MACEDONIA IS NOT Greek

  • @Daniel622440 macedonia is GREEK you faggot go learn some history

  • @Daniel622440

    Macedon is Northern Greek.

The current Republic of Macedonia is Slavic - more in common with Russia than with Greece.

  • 1:31 nice cardboard spear

  • Darius made 2 accounts and dislikes this

  • as far as I know, the territory of Macedonia was divided into 3 parts after the balkan wars: the Macedonia of Aegeian was given to Greece, the Macedonia of Pirin was given to Bulgaria, and Macedonia of Vardar was given to Serbia, which managed to maintain the name and is now known as FYROM. What's the big deal? It wasn't untill Alexander who gave Greece actual national identity, and the Greek ego can't bear the fact that a barbarian did what city states could not due to constant inner battles?!

  • plus he spread hellenistic culture, and spoke greek- so did the macedonians. Present day 'macedonia' isnt the same as ancient macedonia- they jus changed the name.
