Haha, yeah I've had some in the past too, and it does indeed run rampant (not unlike water hyacinths). But racoons are a problem for me too, so given the option between some gawdy netting or allowing the surface cover to grow for protection, I definitely favor the latter.
Your yard is gorgeous, only I'd clear just about 1/3 of that off just so you can actually see some of the water surface. To each his own though, nicely done :)
Thanks. I agree. It just multiplies so so fast....and I didn't remove a lot of it as the raccoons were snacking on the fish. But I definitely agree...far too much water lettuce.
