  • She acted so natural! If I didn't see the scene some minutes after, I would guess that she meant to throw the shoes to the both sides of stage...

  • The way she improvised was good :3

  • it's convenient that her shocked face matched the song lyrics: "and you'll go woah" :p

  • That's amazing how she stayed in character! I would have been like "OH CRAP!"

  • what a great save!!

  • She makes a more impressive jump without shoes :)

  • and then there was the poor schmuck who the shoe hit....

  • it weired - i prefer the way she sings in this video than any other one i have seen of her in singing this song. its brilliant :D

  • @Geegallzz1 What?

  • That, ladies and gentleman, is what professionalism looks like. She didn't even flinch when her shoe came off nor did she show the audience that she was freaking out inside.

  • @ilovestarkid1 if you look closely you can see her eyes bug as an involuntary (but professional) reaction to the flying shoe.

  • @ilovestarkid1 your username is totally awesome

  • I met Laura Bell tonight and had dinner with her!! I asked her about this and she said her initial thoughts were 'Oh shit! Well, I better do something, I can't do the jump with only one shoe on! Soo I just threw the other one off!'

  • Am I the only one who LOVES the way she sings "Door!" at 0:11??

  • that is a sign of a great actress. You must not react to anything. If I hadn't watched the actual play I would have assumed the shoe was supposed to come off with how well she handled that

  • @AngelJuliet lol. BUT she skipped over "much better" twice x3

  • alot of people would have panic...she didn't!!

also, i have to give a mega well done for dancing in heels...i can't even walk in them!!

  • she handled that so well :)

  • I love how she just casually removed her other shoe XD

    She is AMAZING!!

  • Nice cover!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Whats this song called? :)

  • @kateisadinosaur so much better

  • @kateisadinosaur So much better. If you look up bailey hanks broadway.com if u look at it she does a REALLY good version of it near the end of that video!

  • @kateisadinosaur so much better

  • Must've been nice for her to be able to jump without the heels for a change :)

  • @ILNY79 indeed

  • @ILNY79

Yeah, she totally went for it! That jump was EPIC!!

  • That, my friends, is what character shoes are for.

  • @jacobjz33 Yeah. The ones with ANKLE STRAPS.

  • @Bremen25 her feet must just be a wierd fit then

  • @jacobjz33 like elle would wear character shoes!!!

  • Her leap at the end always made the scene for me. Lmao. Love her.

  • That happened to me once-my shoe flew off during the middle of a dance number. I regret to say I did not handle it as classily as Laura Bell Bundy. Granted, I was only a sophomore in high school, but the girl playing Hucklebee and I just started laughing. it didn't help that backstage was hysterical. We did complete the dance, but we couldn't look at each other the rest of the time....points to Ms Bundy for quick thinking and awesomeness

  • @soaringproductions30 "While on stage it's harder than it looks to stay in character"

I don't know what soaring productions 30 is, but if this is what you teach or how you try to explain acting you should stop talking and/or refund any money people might be giving your production co. You wouldn't happen to be the person that that shoe struck in the head are you?

  • great improv!!!

  • Lol, she's so professional! :D

  • :22 hahahaha I love her!!!!!!! She is amazingggggg! :D

  • good idea, take off the other shoe, i would have freaked out like "OH MY GOD DID THAT HIT SOMEONE? WHAT DO I DO??????" lol

  • witch song is it?

  • @RotesSiefelSolo007 It's So much better! :)

  • When I watched that scene for the first time all i could think was if her shoe would fly off sometime.

  • I wish I caught that shoe.

  • For a brief second you can see her face go "Oh SHOOT!" right before she continues on lol.

  • she is amazing ... show must go on!!! OMG you guys she is sooo cool...

sorry i could not resist.. :p

  • I wonder how many people were killed/injured while scuffling to get that shoe.

  • AMAZING! One of my directors always says that the audience is dumb because they dont know anything that will happen. So if something like that were to happen they wouldn't notice. Something like that happened to me. I was in 13 the musical and I was in "It cant be true" Well back stage I could not find a cell phone for the scene so I just acted as if I was telling the audience. #1 key to being a good actor/actress

  • @shportin1 It wasn't the fact that she took her shoe off, it was the fact that she stayed so cool about it in that stressful moment. While on stage it's harder than it looks to stay in character, ESPECIALLY if something like THAT happened. They were just appreciating how well she did under pressure.

  • @soaringproductions30 i COMPLETELY agree! its like you're so used to doing the role and then something unexpected happens and u don't know what to do. she DEFINITELY handled that situation amazingly! :)

  • i cant even describe in words how much i love that woman, this show, or this song. that is the sound of jesus bieng born. Why this show ever closed is beyond me, i was a total doutber at fist "Legally Blonde the Musical" haha thats funny. then i watched it, my life was changed forever. I love you LBTM.

  • Now THAT is what being an actor is all about. Amazing.

  • nice recovery!

  • Heh, that reminds me when I was in this musical, the guy who did the choreography was telling us what to do if something goes wrong, the shoe must go on. Then he told us that when he was in grade school doing a tap number with his sister, his shoe flew off right into the audience, but he kept going like nothing happened, and more people afterwards had no idea he didn't have a tap show on. If it were me, I would've freaked out!!

  • WAY TO IMPROV!

  • pause it at 0:51 she looks really cool.

  • it's so brilliant how she stays in character by just throwing the other shoe. Brilliant. and she did it without missing a single beat

  • i like how the way she takes off her other heel and still performing like she doesn't care about her shoes!

  • I really hope the audience was paying attention lol

  • in the West-End the end bit the 'S' in 'Elle Woods' is on a handbag

  • lol at the way she throws the other shoe!! amazing improv, if it were me i woulda kept going with just one shoe lol.

  • she's so amazing.

  • i love the shocked look on her face when she sees her heel go into the air lol

    Smart thinking..on your toes ;)

  • That is truly a professional at work there. That shows a lot because she realizes stuff happens and the way to make it better is to improvise. So the shoe flying off became part of the performance with little or no expression that it had really been something that was not supposed to happen.

  • true actress staying in charactor and making it fit :D xx i miss you legally blonde the musical :'( x xxxxxxx

  • i always wondered if that ever happened! thanks for posting!

  • fast thinkingggg, im not that smart!

  • It was at 0:21 look closely lol she is amazing

  • very professional!!!

  • Dude! That jump right before the blackout... so coooool!

  • whats the name of the song

  • @MrDjaslights so much better lol

  • @MrDjaslights so much better

  • wow! thats amazing improv. I wouldnt be able to think that quick in my feet!!!

  • oh my gosh she handled that amazingly! that shows what a great actress can do :)

  • What an amazing performer!

  • Wow...that is incredible!!!

  • that jump was epic!

  • How come they don't do the pussy/vag/clit triangle anymore? They used to do it right before they turn around and show Elle's name. Did they finally realize how gross it looked??

  • @rikellehardy This was the out of town tryouts for the show. PRE-Broadway.

  • @rikellehardy it's the delta nu triangle, you moron.

  • she's such a pro! nd i love that jump at the end! =-)

  • I love how she barely even blinks when it happens, she just deals with it straight away XD

  • Do you think they, like, went around in the intervile saying 'Who has the shoe?' x

  • wow, thats really funny! its smart how she thought to throw off the other shoe...thats talent. and i cant believe she could stay in character that way. impressive

  • Amazing actress!!!

  • lol <3

  • She is amazing!!!!!!

  • Ever the professional actress, notice how she just kept going? :)

  • Man, fantastic save! She didn't look phased at all!

  • NICE save!!! Sign of a good performer!

  • I love how professional she is. :)

  • Wow, this shows she is a real professional. You can see the surprise on her face but only for a tiny moment, then she takes of her other shoe as if it were part of the play. She is a wonderful actress with a fantastic voice.

  • My shoe flew off in the audience during high school musical, I was sharpay. Same thing. Same performance? I fell on stage and slammed my head. At that point, we all started laughing. cast and audience. It was hilarious. Laughed for about 3 minutes, then my best friend who played my ryan said, "Where were we?" and continued. I love when things happen on stage. Totally keep you on your toes.

  • WOOOOOT THAT PUMPS ME UP!!!!

  • Her shoe didn't fly of she took it off!!!!

  • @KandOifyable it flew off b4 that...u can see when they zoom out that she is bare footed

  • @KandOifyable no it did at 0:21 when she say "i have not begun to fight.." and she lifts up her leg is when it flys off. i missed it the first time too but just look closely you can see it in the shadow.

  • @KandOifyable her first shoe flew off, so she took the other one off afterwards

  • What a pro :) She is simply amazing.

  • haha nice job laura!

  • I don't think she just thought of taking off the other shoe, this is kind of emergency staging for that stuff, they must have other tips like that for stuff like, she can't put her new dress on on time in the store at the beginning or at Paulette's, if a dog isn't acting as expected, ...

  • @pSAurOnq I doubt they would have got that specific. I think it would have been quick thinking and professionalism on Laura's behalf. But, true, they certainly stage alternatives for when things go wrong.

  • @laurah1969 yea there were so many other things that could go wrong. we just dont notice them untilll they happen. they wouldnt be like "oh incase your shoe comes off, take the other one off too.

  • Haha she's awesome, I actually remember this XD I wasn't near the shoe but I was lucky enough to see it fly out! She's amazing on how she just took the other shoe off, I wouldn't have thought of that XDDD now if this happens to me ever I'll have to remember to take the other off XD.

  • Shes so professional :) xx

  • Oh my gawd oh my gawd you guys!!! haha that was the best!!! and then she throws the other shoe!! thats guiness (wow i cannot spell )

  • @koalagirl529 your comment really made me laugh :D

  • @polkadotpolka123 Haha thank you! Wow I love LBB!!!

  • I love how everyone starts clapping when she throws the other one off! Oh, I just love LBB!

  • I love how she just kept on going and she didn't just awkwardly stand there with one shoe still on. She took it off and kept the song alive.

  • AHHH I LOVE HER!! there are so many chances to meet her and im always to scared. lol like her contests. i just realllly want to meet her at the stage door of something.

  • *Sigh* Ahhh that magic of improvisation, you got to love it!

  • Wow! She just kept going along and threw her other shoe off to keep the performance going! I would have just stopped singing in embarassment.

  • The exact same thing happened to me, but thankfully it happened during dress rehearsal.

  • man if that happend to me i would be like o sh** what do i do now!!

  • Who wouldn't take a shoe in the face to meet LBB?

  • wow i would have totally frozen and not known what to do

  • she is spectacular i would have frozen on stage. she is s true actor!

  • @Missmaiden1 I know, shes amazing. She was probably in the mindset of Elle, and she didn't recognize that she was Laura Bell Bundy, she said that she really gets into the moments during this song.

  • Thats impressive. Throw the other shoe off... I wouldn't have thought of that. Way to stay in character <3 <3 !!!!!

  • @broadwayssm That's a good actor. And a lousy costumer.

  • my cousin got the shoe that flew off the stage!

it flew into her lap -- haha

she got to meet laura bell afterwards because she felt so badly about the whole thing.

  • that is SO awesome!!!!

  • yeah...i was pretty jealous about it! haha

  • Aw, awesome! I would've felt awful to if I was Laura Bell! XD

Imagine if it had hit someone in the face! O_#

  • imagine if it hit someone :L

  • Despite the shoe, this is actually a great performance on Laura's part. Her last note is great!

  • good for her to cover it up and keep going and take her other shoe off like that's how it was supposed to be

    true professional

  • it actually fits with like the song like if it fell off in serious or something it would have been worse

  • i love it!

  • Comment removed

  • she is sooo my idel. every part she has. ugh! love her!

  • Comment removed

  • She is so amazing!

Wait ... did the shoe hit anybody? D:

  • That's hilarious. :)

  • wow very well covered!!!

  • She covered really smoothly. That just looked like a part of the performance.

  • i love her when she saw it fly off!!

  • This is a brillant recovery! she is my idol!!!

  • haha i love how when one of her shoes fly into the audience she takes off the the other one making it look like its part of the song.

  • thats so funny! she's amazing.

She just goes on with it even though her shoe flew off.

too bad u can't see her feet though.

  • everyone totally started clapping :)

    shes the besttt :D

  • before i had seen this clip or eve listened to the show's music and LBB was my hero [ <3] i though the shoe coming off was really supposed to happen!!!! :D

  • OMG wow i had to watch this twice to realize it was a blooper

she is so amazing she made it look like it was supposed 2 happen

  • WOOOOW OMG WHAT A VOICE?!

  • If I caught that shoe, omg, that would be SO AWESOME, I might actually have given it back to her at stage door to see her reaction, lol!

  • lol.

but i am sure someone went to get the shoe right away.

  • Why do you have to ruin my dreams! gosh! : )

  • haha. sorry! ;-)

  • omg she is such a quick thinker. if she didn't take her other shoe off, she probably would have seriously injured her ankle when she jumps at the end...

  • yehh they would tell her that in an "in-case this happens" senario

  • she is so amazing i had to re watch this a few times to realize that her shoe flew off cuz she took off her other shoe also

  • fantastic!!!

  • she made that little screw up seem like nothing she's so amazing

  • If I didn't already know that it was a mistake that her shoe flew off, I would've thought that it was on purpose to make that jump less dangerous. xD Great save there.

  • Even in a pink dress and jeans jacket, Ms. Bundy commands the stage like magic. What an incredible talent. This jump that she does at the end just blows my mind every time I watch it.

  • Wonderful! She rocked it even with the little mistake which was barely noticeable. And the jump was awesome!

  • What a pro! She even blew the roof off with a show-stopping finale! I LOVE YOU LAURA BELL BUNDY! This is the best I've heard her!

  • she didn't pick it up - the shoe was either in the orchestra or the audience, she took the other shoe off and threw it off stage right.

  • I think they meant picked up the performance.

  • lol that shoe hit me. lol jk

  • Must be better without shoes to jump up! :P

  • LOVE THAT XD Pros gotta know how to save the preformance after all :P

  • Good save, laura:D

  • It's really good how she picked it up tho :)

  • She sounds SO good in this video. That's how she sounded the two times I saw the show (once in SF and once in NY) and it just makes "So Much Better" one of the most thrilling first act finales. It's just so joyful. The jump adds so much too.

  • She covered that up like a pro.

  • Okay, I'm gonna comment on what's really amazing...LAURA SINGING THIS SONG. God, you're fricken incredible! Do you think she knows how incredible she is? Does she even comprehend it? Does she wake up and think, "God, I'm AMAZING!"?

  • Oh yea i love how she compensates with losing her shoe with a huge jump at the end.

  • the huge jump is actually choreographed, it symbolizes the spirit of elle woods being in the air ...thats why the house lights all close on her, so the audiences last vision of the first act closer is Elles spirit literally flying in the air

  • yeah, but... she jumps... HIGHER!

  • IM SOOOOOOOOOOO dissapointed that i wont be able to see LBB as elle :( i love this show but i fell in love with the original cast and not all these second hand store picks :( oh well atleast i have the video

  • Stuff like this happens in all plays, we had a guy forget to go come on stage one time and the main character did an improvisation for like 3 minutes about how he wanted to be a comedian... it was hilarious!

  • Yeah, in Wicked on Broadway, there's a scene where Glinda and Elphaba are in their dorm, and their beds are supposed to slide out, but only Elphaba's slid out. So Kristin Chenoweth (who was playing Glinda at the time) did an improv song about how she wanted her bed. And once, (same show, same cast) something really noisy was happening with one of the lights, so Kristin went out and started tap dancing for the audience...
