did anyone ever notice that rather than the common misconception that this is simply an optimistic song that it's actually a satire mocking the mentality that we should just "smile" about our problems and expect them to go away on their own? It didn't occur to me until I listened to this about fifty times that the phrase "people should smile more" was actually being used sarcastically.

I liked this song until I found out its true meaning.
