Sizing her up to EAT her that is. And she was under 6 feet. The vet said if she left it another night he would've probably eaten her. Its hard to trust animals, often they go back to their instincts.

I know a girl who had a python that was 6 feet long. She had it for quite a few years and let it loose in her house like a dog. It always slept at the end of her bed in a ball. One day he refused to eat, and the next few days he wouldnt eat either. One morning she woke up and the snake was stretched out beside her on the other side of the bed. It lay rigid and wouldn't move. She called the vet and he told her to bring the snake in right away, it had to be put down because he was sizing her up.

I've seen this behaviour before in snakes.

There is a movie on youtube somewhere about a snake that was captured and fed a live hamster and it refused to eat it, 2 weeks was the last time it had food ATLEAST.

It did eat dead mice that he didn't have to kill and since then it has been living with the hamster together and the hamster actually sleeps on the snake o_O

We don't know anything about animals and the way their minds work really.

Sometimes even the friendliest of dogs can react strangely one day and attack a human. A snake is even more dangerous. They are taking a big chance every moment they let the kid play with that snake. I'm not saying they should kill it -- it wouldn't be the snake's fault if he one day suddenly reacted to something and decided to attack the boy. It would be the parents' fault, for allowing this to go on. Although since it seems so close to the boy, more likely is it'll kill his parents.
