I've never observed this about any other singer, but to me there's a good bit of the Hank Sr. soul in Vern's music. I've have sadly discovered recently that I've missed a lot by not following Vern's career more, thus I'm only guessing that I'm far from the first to come up with this idea.

I will never forget that voice as long as I live. his voice and the lyrics of some of his songs I find always seem to fit something I am going through in this crazy life. I’m curious re: my first post here is commented on, by a person from Jax. Do you live in the Jax area still (I live between Callahan and Hilliard), or just your sister? I can pick up 100.7 in my car, but not at home on my stereo w/antenna!
