If anyone has the album of Vern Gosdin, You've Got Somebody, recorded in 1979, can you please post some songs from it. Some were "You've Got Somebody, I've Got Somebody", "Til I'm Over Getting Over You", "I Took It Like A Man, Cried Like A Baby"," All I Want And Need Forever", "Sarah's Eyes." Thanks for posting.
ATTENTION VG FANS: there are so many excellent live recordings of the late Vern Gosdin that were filmed for various television programs. We need to find and encourage a record label to release these historic recordings. These would make perfect live albums. It's unfair that Michael Jackson has dozens of official and unofficial live recordings, yet Vern is overlooked because his music is country.
I can't stand todays music period.. other than some good ole Gospel.. they are mixing country and rap... I believe it is called "Crap" So glad I can go on Youtube and pull up all the REAL COUNTRY MUSIC... :-)

I used to travel all over western USA for my job....and I wore out my Vern Gosdin tapes. When I hear him sing these I want to be back in my 1988 Toyota cruising down to Arizona from Montana.
This kind of music show you how true the song " MURDER ON MUSIC ROW " really is. The trash we hear today is NOT music. VERN was one of the best in real country music.

Just sang "Who You Gonna Blame This Time...a Vern Gosdin song. He's gone, but I'm still here...so go and check it out at jtyler5 channel. Comment either way, but I love doing Vern's songs!
I've never observed this about any other singer, but to me there's a good bit of the Hank Sr. soul in Vern's music. I've have sadly discovered recently that I've missed a lot by not following Vern's career more, thus I'm only guessing that I'm far from the first to come up with this idea.
My mom took me to vern gosden, conway twitty and george jones concert when I was like 9 years old. I will never forget that voice as long as I live. his voice and the lyrics of some of his songs I find always seem to fit something I am going through in this crazy life. I would have loved to know more about the man begind that unforgettable voice.
I just sang this song because I LOVE VERN GOSDIN'S VOICE, and I cam DARN CLOSE to making him proud - if he were still with us. Chekc it out - scheduled for Tuesday, July 5th on jtyler5 channel. I already put his "Set 'em up Joe" song on that channel. On July 7th, I've finished singing "Do You Believe Me Now", an that one came out good, too. Honors to Vern Gosdin. I prove that us old dogs cans still sing!
i actually met vern @ a waffle house in kingsport tenn. in 1985 where i was working he was on his way back to nashville from a show he had been doing there in kingsport i miss him and i still love him and his music...never really knew him..but i miss him
Forgot to mention ol' George Strait. He also has that true sound of country flowin' through his voice. There are not many left out there to "pass the torch" to. A damn shame really!!
@patman2269 george strait is the it,i love vern in person and he has never let his fame goes to his head,i love to hear them both.too bad they never did a concert together
Today's country is pretty good, but nowhere near what defines true country from years back.I'll be 43 on Monday and I have yet to hear anything remotely close to what country really sounded like when country was "it". Maybe Garth Brooks or Alan Jackson in the last 25 yrs. or so,but that's it perhaps...just my opinion ppl.Another great tune from Vern though.Sadly missed I'm sure.

Yeah Vern , George, Merle and Hank jr...they don't make em like that anymore. Most all of the stuff they play on the radio nowadays is easy listening not country, they call it "crossover"???Kinda sucks...
On You Tube listen to George Jones song( Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes) and that says it all, then listen to George Straight ( Murder on Music Row) and Alan Jackson joins him on stage. those songs are the last of Real Country Music.

I’m curious re: my first post here is commented on, by a person from Jax. Do you live in the Jax area still (I live between Callahan and Hilliard), or just your sister? I can pick up 100.7 in my car, but not at home on my stereo w/antenna! I'm fortunate to have a gentleman friend, and my ex husband, whom I quote;"The' country stations' 96.1, 99.9, etc., ARE NOT country. Put it on 100.7, if you want to listen to country music.” They grew up listening to country music, and both were born in '46!
@outbackredd I was talking to a friend on the phone about Gary Stewart while we were playing “Name That Tune.” I asked him if he had read the Bio, “LITTLE JUNIOR, KING OF THE HONKY-TONKS". I told him about the three “f” words, describing his life with (Mary) Lou, and my comment re: 107.7. I stand forever, frankly, and favorably corrected. And no, those aren’t the three “f” words.
Cannot get enough of "The VOICE". I miss him so bad. It breaks my heart every time I listen to him sing, but I need to hear him! Some one tell me why he 's not in the Country Music Hall of Fame! He could sing circles around everyone else. There is a void now in music that no one else can fill!

People who like this music should take the time to learn more about Vern and his life. He sang from his heart, and literally was an overnight sensation ...after 30 years in the business!
my grandma was in his fanclub and SHE ACTUALLY SPOKE TO HIM AND GAVE HIM FLOWERS OMG my family is mostly country which i am but in my heart he will always be there.
my grandma called i think his manger cause she read his book i reead the book it was good ..........I LOVE U VERN MY WORLD HAS GOWN UPSIDE DOWN WITHOUT U
I'VE NEVER HEARD A TUNE BY VERN THAT COULDN'T HOLD MY ATTENTION FROM THE INTRO THRU THE FINALE' . I LIKE ALL HIS MUSIC. HOW EVER MY FAVORITE ; I CAN'T FIND ON YOU TUBE " RIGHT IN THE WRONG DIRECTION " IF ANY ONE HAS A POST OF THIS TUNE PLZ MAKE NE KNOW. THANKS
@ROUGHNECKTRUCKER the song you are looking for is on here. live however look under 1989 vern gosdin youre headin right in the wrong direction live enjoy. may the voice live on.
Vern you were taken to soon. You truly are the "VOICE" of country music. Everything you sing is with so much heart and compassion.. I love you and miss you!!!!
"The Voice" will never be silenced. Vern, I have listened to your songs, and I have tried to sing them with as much feeling as you did, I probably failed miserably. So long, old friend, the new crop will NEVER be able to hold a candle to you. RIP.
Vern Gosdin, we miss you! I believe he's singing in heaven! He has such a magnificant voice! And such beautiful songs! This one is so sad though, and it hits home! Thanks for posting!
Vern Gosdin ~ they just don't make 'em like him anymore ... "So many times I talked you out of leavin' ..." Who of us hasn't .... Thanks for this one ~ it's just beautiful ...

People who like this music should take the time to learn more about Vern and his life. He sang from his heart, and literally was an overnight sensation ...after 30 years in the business!
Where he's gone, it doesn't hurt any more.

"The Voice" will never be silenced. Vern, I have listened to your songs, and I have tried to sing them with as much feeling as you did, I probably failed miserably. So long, old friend, the new crop will NEVER be able to hold a candle to you. RIP.
