  • Thank you so much for keeping The Voice alive.

  • My grandpa liked to sing this song and play his guitar. Now he's gone and I play it and think of him. Thanks grandpa for giving me the gift of music.

  • This is my song!

  • If anyone has the album of Vern Gosdin, You've Got Somebody, recorded in 1979, can you please post some songs from it. Some were "You've Got Somebody, I've Got Somebody", "Til I'm Over Getting Over You", "I Took It Like A Man, Cried Like A Baby"," All I Want And Need Forever", "Sarah's Eyes." Thanks for posting.

  • Excellent !!! --- thanks for sharing

  • I've always liked just about everything this guy ever did. He didn't just mouth some words to a tune; he told a story and laid out his emotions.

  • I can't stand todays music period.. other than some good ole Gospel.. they are mixing country and rap... I believe it is called "Crap" So glad I can go on Youtube and pull up all the REAL COUNTRY MUSIC... :-)

  • I used to travel all over western USA for my job....and I wore out my Vern Gosdin tapes. When I hear him sing these I want to be back in my 1988 Toyota cruising down to Arizona from Montana.

  • Love this song!!!!!

  • Music to make a broken heart, break even more. Rest in Peace Vern Gosdin. Your music is the best.

  • a true southern country singer

  • Country music has left the building

(and we sure do miss you)

    R.I.P

    (V.G)

  • Yes, that just about does it! A song I'll NEVER forget!

  • This song is about when his wife left him. That's why he could put so much feelings in it

  • This kind of music show you how true the song " MURDER ON MUSIC ROW " really is. The trash we hear today is NOT music. VERN was one of the best in real country music.

  • @TheMrblazer76 you spoke the true word munder on music row,no one makes music like this anymore

  • There should be an alternate Nashiville-like city somewhere...

Not Branson.......Where real country music can thrive..

  • Wow........ such strong words almost as if he were there to have such feelings.

  • truely one of the greatest this world has ever seen. V.G! i wish more people my age grew up listening to him.. and i really wish more people knew his name. cause god this man can make you feel every word.. picture with out me. oh my god. i can just name song after song. R.I.P

    John Tyler

  • i owned a bar in columbus oh. it burnet in 1989 this song was on the turn table after bar was totaled never will for get that song

  • Having lived this video, as many couples have, makes the song even more touching than Mr. Gosdin's already heartfelt voice. Thanks for posting.

  • while visiting the US we saw this video on tv it made my new now ex wife cry I will always love the voice of Vern

  • they aint no new country out there these days that are tear terkers like the one is

  • Oh man!! They don't call him ' the voice ' for nothing.

  • what happened to heart in country?

  • One of the best voices to ever stand in front of a microphone. Sadly, i'm afraid, voices like this and music like this are once in a lifetime.

  • I've never observed this about any other singer, but to me there's a good bit of the Hank Sr. soul in Vern's music. I've have sadly discovered recently that I've missed a lot by not following Vern's career more, thus I'm only guessing that I'm far from the first to come up with this idea.

  • omg i did not know he passed away..too sad

  • My mom took me to vern gosden, conway twitty and george jones concert when I was like 9 years old. I will never forget that voice as long as I live. his voice and the lyrics of some of his songs I find always seem to fit something I am going through in this crazy life. I would have loved to know more about the man begind that unforgettable voice.

  • a country great ,who never got his true due ! one of the the all time best ! olecroc, huntsville missouri

  • The best voice in country music. We lost a good one,

  • This song is now up on my youtube channel at jtyler5...YOU BE THE JUDGE. Vern Gosdin would be proud of the deelivery, I believe.

John Tyler - sings "That Just About Does It - Don't It"

  • I just sang this song because I LOVE VERN GOSDIN'S VOICE, and I cam DARN CLOSE to making him proud - if he were still with us. Chekc it out - scheduled for Tuesday, July 5th on jtyler5 channel. I already put his "Set 'em up Joe" song on that channel. On July 7th, I've finished singing "Do You Believe Me Now", an that one came out good, too. Honors to Vern Gosdin. I prove that us old dogs cans still sing!

  • greatest voice ever in country music and im a big george straight fan , vern will always be the voice

  • Tammy had it right! he is great!!! i wish i could sing like vern.

  • Forgot to mention ol' George Strait. He also has that true sound of country flowin' through his voice. There are not many left out there to "pass the torch" to. A damn shame really!!

  • @patman2269 george strait is the it,i love vern in person and he has never let his fame goes to his head,i love to hear them both.too bad they never did a concert together

  • Today's country is pretty good, but nowhere near what defines true country from years back.I'll be 43 on Monday and I have yet to hear anything remotely close to what country really sounded like when country was "it". Maybe Garth Brooks or Alan Jackson in the last 25 yrs. or so,but that's it perhaps...just my opinion ppl.Another great tune from Vern though.Sadly missed I'm sure.

  • His voice sounds like barstools and broken hearts for damn sure! Today's country is pretty good, but nowhere near what defines true country from years back.I'll be 43 on Monday and I have yet to hear anything remotely close to what country really sounded like when country was "it". Maybe Garth Brooks or Aln Jackson in the last 25 yrs. or so,but that's it perhaps...just my opinion ppl.Another great tune from Vern though.Sadly missed I'm sure.

  • His voice alone conjures up sawdust floors and broken hearted bars, real country.

  • I remember this song from my childhood. My father listened to it. Reminds me of him....miss him. <3

  • Thanks to all the great fans for showing your appreciation.

Vern dearly loved his fans. Hail to The Voice of Country Music.

  • Hey type in " Ron Howard Palace" listen to Opie sing "Lady" and "Reason to Believe"

  • Yeah Vern , George, Merle and Hank jr...they don't make em like that anymore. Most all of the stuff they play on the radio nowadays is easy listening not country, they call it "crossover"???Kinda sucks...

  • @firemansgirl54 amen to that!

  • Love this, great going Vern Gosdin! We'll miss you.

  • pure 24k country gold! VERN is a LEGEND.

  • Now that is country music

  • Vern is a great singer and awesome on this one.Does anyone know what guitar he's playin or is that the sound I hear? Thanks.

  • On You Tube listen to George Jones song( Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes) and that says it all, then listen to George Straight ( Murder on Music Row) and Alan Jackson joins him on stage. those songs are the last of Real Country Music.

  • Nobody could sing with more hurt in his voice than vern. I met him before his passing and consider myself damn lucky to be a freind to him. R.I.P. V.G.

  • @outbackredd Thank you, and a very Merry Christmas to you and yours, and Happy New Year! We just about turned this into a social site; best saved for social sites. But I enjoyed the camaraderie! God bless and be safe.

  • I’m curious re: my first post here is commented on, by a person from Jax. Do you live in the Jax area still (I live between Callahan and Hilliard), or just your sister? I can pick up 100.7 in my car, but not at home on my stereo w/antenna! I'm fortunate to have a gentleman friend, and my ex husband, whom I quote;"The' country stations' 96.1, 99.9, etc., ARE NOT country. Put it on 100.7, if you want to listen to country music.” They grew up listening to country music, and both were born in '46!

  • @outbackredd I was talking to a friend on the phone about Gary Stewart while we were playing “Name That Tune.” I asked him if he had read the Bio, “LITTLE JUNIOR, KING OF THE HONKY-TONKS". I told him about the three “f” words, describing his life with (Mary) Lou, and my comment re: 107.7. I stand forever, frankly, and favorably corrected. And no, those aren’t the three “f” words.

  • Cannot get enough of "The VOICE". I miss him so bad. It breaks my heart every time I listen to him sing, but I need to hear him! Some one tell me why he 's not in the Country Music Hall of Fame! He could sing circles around everyone else. There is a void now in music that no one else can fill!

  • Merry Christmas to all the Vern Gosdin fans everywhere. Your support means so much. Let's hear it for The Voice.

  • I remember recording this video off CMT back in 1990 when they actually played country music and videos. I love Vern Gosdin's voice , and this song definetely illustrates that.

  • @puppymomthree I just hit my 50's when I met a man who introduced me to country music; my pre-sets have all been reset, to the only 'old cournty' music station near Jacksonville, FL: 107.7
