i love figure skating soo much but i can't barely watch it. the best people that i've seen on ice are rarely american's but they're not that bad either...they can work harder. the asians are great too.

I Was in South Korea when she won the gold!! That whole tiny country went insane when she won. Everywhere i turned it was about Kim Yuna. remember Yuna lost in 2010 Worlds when Orser was still her coach. If Orser is so great, how come he didn't prepare her well to win there ? If he is such a big time coach, then where was his student Adam Rippon during 2011 Worlds ?

I'm a musician, not a professional, but someone who enjoys classical music. If you are a classical performer, or any performer, you have to have techniques to have artistry. The two must go together.
I think it is same for figure skating. Yuna is so great because she has both. If you don't like her artistry, that's okay because people have different perceptions of art.

I'm really glad she split with Brian Orser. It was her choreographer David Wilson who made her who she is now. Under Brian, her jumps got worse actually. She used to do perfect triple flip but, these days, she easily miss it. I'm glad she and David are really close.
it was brian's help that made her an olympic champ. o.O though i know that she still could've won without brian but with brian it helped her more. she messed a bit with the flip and you automatically blame the coach? thats fucked up. im sorry but its true. losing a jump thats the way of skating. you lose it and you gain it back. happens to loads of skaters including me. if you get a jump and its always perfect than ice-skating is not a real sport.
she had a complete array of triple jumps before 2007. sure i agree, skaters lose some of their jump over the course of time. but, you need to know, it was Brian's primary responsibility to make sure that didn't happen. not just her flip, her triple loop became wobbly and destroyed, to be honest under the tutelage of brian. he's a great mastermind for marketing, but do i give a credit for solidifying yuna? NO. David Wilson is the one to get credit if you ask.
not all coaches can prevent a skater from losing their jumps. if they can then no one will lose their jumps. like..Mirai for example. 2 seasons ago she was at her worst. and now look at last season. she got 4th at OLYMPICS. coaches can try their hardest to prevent from happening but sometimes trying the hardest doesn't work.
David Wilson is a choreographer. yes he should get credit but not all. skating is not always about choreography its about jumps and choreography.
if your born good skaters you remain a good skaters ..what ever happen on yuna and brian orser ..let's hope it will be a happy ending..you cannot put down a good skaters like yuna kim...she is great ever since her junior years

Mao got placed 18th after all GranPrix events of this year 2010.
She would have been placed 20th if Yuna Kim and Joannie Rochette have participated in GranPrix events.

she is obviously free and perfect, skating for herself as though she hasn't a care in the world. the few people who don't care for her must be jealous. she's wonderful. watching her is kind of a spiritual experience, as is sometimes the case when watching a great athletic performance.

have you seen a single skater skate to the music as well as her? or have you seen a skater who doesn't slows his/her speed on jumps entrance? that makes yuna unique. i think she's the only skater who doesn't slows her speed and the best quality of jumps among all skaters! the distance, the height and not to mention the exit of execution and extensions. amazing one of a kind skater...the best!^_^

@globalk100 Michelle kwan never won an olympic gold, but she won loads of golds medal in the national and worlds championships and not only! just because you win an olympic once, it doesn't make you automatically the best of the best. Michelle kwan definetely took such a fresh air on figure skating. she had brilliant coreographies and actually moved people with her performances. same with sasha cohen!
I like Yuna Kim a lot, but I think she's more of an athlete than an artist on ice.

Tell Mao to go back to her former coach "Nagakubo". He said several times the no-talented Mao does not have basic jumping skills so she needs to re-learn 1 rotation jump from the beginning.
Too bad the stupid Mao fired the coach.
Maybe Mao is thinking of inviting judges to Japan again to cover up her messed up jumps instead of trying to fix them herself.

I'm really glad she split with Brian Orser. It was her choreographer David Wilson who made her who she is now. Under Brian, her jumps got worse actually. She used to do perfect triple flip but, these days, she easily miss it. I'm glad she and David are really close.

it was brian's help that made her an olympic champ. o.O though i know that she still could've won without brian but with brian it helped her more. she messed a bit with the flip and you automatically blame the coach? thats fucked up. im sorry but its true. losing a jump thats the way of skating. you lose it and you gain it back. happens to loads of skaters including me. if you get a jump and its always perfect than ice-skating is not a real sport.

she had a complete array of triple jumps before 2007. sure i agree, skaters lose some of their jump over the course of time. but, you need to know, it was Brian's primary responsibility to make sure that didn't happen. not just her flip, her triple loop became wobbly and destroyed, to be honest under the tutelage of brian. he's a great mastermind for marketing, but do i give a credit for solidifying yuna? NO. David Wilson is the one to get credit if you ask.

not all coaches can prevent a skater from losing their jumps. if they can then no one will lose their jumps. like..Mirai for example. 2 seasons ago she was at her worst. and now look at last season. she got 4th at OLYMPICS. coaches can try their hardest to prevent from happening but sometimes trying the hardest doesn't work.
David Wilson is a choreographer. yes he should get credit but not all. skating is not always about choreography its about jumps and choreography.
