  • HEY! tht is an origional by my granddad so stop telling the guy who played it and practiced it for years. I bet u guys havent even played it once! Oh by the way u use picks it hurts ur fingers if u dont trust me i tried it!

  • nothing like it! back to drawing board...

  • man i cant play this solo for my life....but its so awesome! good job

  • just a question. u used pick or fingers?

  • sounds good....just slow it down slightly and your moves will be smoother and easier

  • oh.....i really like the delay

  • cannot really see the notes for the lead Please help!!!!!

  • good job, but i like it whitout delay better

  • this elvis

  • Nice job, however the 4 chord is a D9th not a 7th.

  • kingtracks why did you get six thumbs down? its the truth!

  • Nice job.

  • Ive been playing almost 2 years now and trying to figure out that solo, your video finally made it happen Thanks and keep on rockin

  • hey what kind of foot pedal are u using im tring to get that sound out of my digitech

  • Danelectro Reel Echo. I get asked that alot!

  • realy cool

  • Man that Danelectro Reel Echo must be something! I compared your slapback with the stuff I'm gettin' out of my board which has both tape echo and digital delay. Real tough to get that Sun Sound...

  • I REALLY like that pedal. It has an option to flick between "tube" and "solid state" for tone. The "tube" settings tends to calm things down a bit and is more useable. The "solid state" settings sounds alot like any modern digital delay.

  • What amp and effects processor did you use for this? IT SOUNDS AMAZING!

  • I THINK that was done on my Deluxe Reverb. It's an original January '67 Black Face model. The only thing that's been done to it are new filter caps, tubes, and a cord. The delay pedal is Danelectro Reel Echo. They're up there in price, but it's built like a tank and sounds great!

  • Wow, lots of comments on my little video! I learned the song half from tabs and half by ear. Go to scottymoore-net, find the guitars etc... section and look towards the bottom under technique. It was never my intention to do a super precise reproduction of the original solo. I was just having a some fun with my new camera!

  • I wish I could have seen both of your hands do that solo, haha oh well, good job though!

  • he didn't use tab..he's tuned correctly and learned it by ear

  • The timing is wrong on the first two phrases and it's D9

not D7 ~ check out Scotty on video. As a great fan of Travis picking I love Scotty's style. However, it's great to see his style perpetuated!

  • Yeah, it's more just me goofing around rather than trying to be exact.

  • Try to find some old 50's Scotty footage so you can see him doing the Travis style, it really helped me to get a handle on what he was doing.

I'm not trying to be a know it all it's just that you definitely show great potential and I like seeing young guys learning a dieing art. If you want to be different, learn the lost arts while everyone else is copying each other.

    I wish you well,

    God bless you my friend.

  • Scotty used a Merle Travis style picking on that (Alternating bass thumb picking) basically using your thumb to alternate between the top E string, third D string, second A string, third D then start over. All that happens while your other fingers are plucking the high notes. - if you do the thumb only while holding a basic E cord you'll find a familiar Cash sound as his guitar guy only did the alternating bass part without the high notes on a lot of the early cash stuff.

  • FYI: Scotty is the only guitar playing lead on that original Sun recording, a lot of people think it's a second guy playing the low strings but it's all Scotty Moore at the same time no over dubs.

  • Not bad at all, that's pretty darn good! your timing was just a bit off, you just need to get back to them thick string notes a little faster.

it sounds like your hitting an extra twang on the high strings that you may think is there on the Scotty recording, maybe because of his echo -it's not there on the original and by adding it, it's putting you behind in the timing. After the slide-up don't hit that final note again - go right back to the low E string.

  • just wondering whered you get the tabs to play that?

  • how much was that fender

  • I remember it being a litte under a grand. It's really been a great little guitar. It sounds great and looks ugly... typical telecaster.

  • i love the riff at 12 seconds, been trying to pull it off. its pretty good.

  • wish i could do that

  • Like it, very much !
