since 1996 is the duobus system was closed, because the track in the tunnel makes many problems. The Buses driven a short time only with Diesel, but then they were sold to a Busdealer

I work for the NYC transit authority in the capacity of BUS OPERATOR. And this is incredible I aplause the country of Germany for their forward thinking as always.
I`ve been past this on a coach along the A40. The bits I saw were the tram lines to the west of the city, then the busway towards Kray. I suppose 3'3" gauge (metre gauge ) is perfect for appilcations like this.
hi , I visited this system a few years ago and was impressed .... but the underground part looks even better in this clip ; unfortunately the open part along a dual carriageway was never wired and the "trolleybus" part was withdrawn and diesel buses used . what a disaster for global warming ! the World needs less diesels not more . trolleybuses rule !!
Actually I think that the people in Essen accepted this system because someone else was paying! There is talk of one section (the route along the median strip of the Autobahn - as seen at the start of this filmclip) being converted back to trams.
This shows the amazing versatility of this environmentally friendly form of transport. Guided or unguided, on reserved roadway or in the traffic, integrated with trams, in tunnel or on the service, electrically powered or on auxiliary power beyond the wires. Why have we not got any in the UK?

It's a pity most of this doesn't exist any more. Wish I would have been a bit older back in these days...

High there,

The answer is that our government doesn't invest in our country or its transport, they rely on private companies to pay for it.
