its like shes talking to her dog.... all the time... but she has great videos which show first hand simple human development concepts and it helps me study as a PSYCH major.
She was paying more attention to the cloths and Mom instead of the object. After she picked up the dark cloth she did not look where the object was. All she did was look at the cloth and she was picking it up, and then at Mom.
Ahhhh, the A-not-B error. She hasn't quite mastered it yet, she looks for the object in the first place she saw it, not the last. Excellent demonstration.
For example, Thomas suddenly heard an interesting news on radio, his wife told him that she would remove the book from its place on the desk and put it on the book-shelf, he would say yes but what really happened that most of his concentration was on the news so when he finished he look at the table first to search for the book and then remembered that the book was removed to the book-shelf.
According to Piaget, the sensorimotor stage is from birth to 2 year old, and regards Object Permanence, Piaget argued that children between 12-18months cannot deal with invisable displacment and those who are between 18 to 24 months have their object permanance complete.
Yes, my daughter was about 13 months when this was filmed and she was beginning to understand object permanence as you can see because she clearly knew there was still something to look for.
I think that this lovely child was not fully concentrating on the object as by the time of its displacment she was looking at the camera for seconds, this might interrupted her attention.
The child doesn't even know about the objective so this test is stupid.

I wonder if it's possible that "IT" (the desired object) was actually the cloth. possibly both cloths. Didn't see much interest in the toy.

This suggets contrary to piaget as it clearly shows how out of sight is NOT out of mind. Thanks for the upload.
