What event was it where Denise performed in a pink body suit? I believe it only had one leg? It was right around this time period and it amazed me... Would love to see that performance again...
I could watch her over and over again. I loved this championship partly because of Denise's performances. This program will stay in my memory forever.
I love Denise and I love this music and program. However, the choreography does not express the music. I would love to see Dorothy Hamill skate to this music. She has the edge control to hold the many long notes in this music and to skate it as an adagio. See her performance to Paquita on YT to see what I mean.
@raymonda100 I don't see how you can say that the choreography doesn't express the music. Her moves were on time, flowed beautifully with the music. And I haven't seen much skating from Dorothy Hamill to comment on whether she would have done it better, so I'll just have to agree that Dorothy probably would have done well with it. But for this performance, Denise reminded me of one of those old music boxes with the porcelain dancer that pivots while the music goes. She was simply breathtaking.
@Jukka70 I should have said the choreography does not always express the music, i.e., she is moving very fast through sections where a single note is held. Dorothy would have the edge control to hold a position for the entire length of the note.
This was Tom Hammond and Sandra Bezic's best commentary EVER. They introduced her and had lovely comments at the end with NO COMMENTARY during the program.
This is among my absolute favorites :) A true shining example of lyrical skating at its best where Denise was one with the music and skated with freedom. She did have a minor toe tap on the 3 salcow and doubled her second salcow in the combination, but I only know this was there from watching the program hundreds of times.
Notice her fingers at the very end of the program? She was skating from her heart.

It was nice that the announcer's kept their mouth shut so you can just enjoy the performance.
Did Denise win the championship this year?

@wwofpk
They were probably mesmerized by the performance like I was. Kristi Yamaguchi won but Denise was second.
