In America, our education is both public and private. As a result, public schools are not as bogged down by beuracracy, because the public schools have to be competitive to avoid loosing kids to private ones.

If Canada did something similar with their health care, it would likely improve tremendously. It won't be perfect, but it would be better.

What do you call profit? Earning a living? Getting paid for your time? Whats more immoral? A doctor dedicating 10 years of study and 200k in studies in order to make a generous living saving lives, or a man who cares not for medicine and becomes a bakers part-time assistant? Wow well maybe you didn't know this but doctors in the universal healthcare system get paid very well too. Anyways universities here a subsidized by the government so becoming a doctor costs roughly 50k not 200k.

100 000 dollars for a life saving operation is cruel and completely unecessary. I'm pretty sure you must be pretty well insured because if you weren't your stance on this would be completely different.

Well if you really think universal health care is related to communism then you really don't understand something.

Perhaps you didn't know but Canada, France, England, Germany and mostly all industrialized nations have universal health care. And those countries have a far better living standard than in the U.S. In fact most americans want a universal health care system however those who speak up are usually branded as communists by conservatives and private companies.

I didn't like the whole "platinum status" health insurance check before they used the high-tech meds. I'd like to see universal health care worked out in 50 years for millions rather than technology that will save a few -- that would be real progress.
