It's funny how Rolling Stone the magazine rates X so highly when Rolling Stone the record guide - via that critic bozo Dave Marsh - threw them under the bus as a hapless and talentless retread of some Jim Morrison on his worst day.
So, I'm curious who's the lone, little Douchey MacDoucher who clicked "Dislike" on this video... Quite possibly X's best song of their entire anthology.
Dirty and Dangerous music. This has to be one of D J's greatest rhythm inventions. Ray Manzanarek mixed this really well also, If you turn down the volume really low, you can hear the drums and bass guitar all the way across the house.
First time I heard this was in "Blinded by the Thousand Points of Light" episode from Season 3 of "21 Jump Street." Too bad the DVD producers replaced all three of the X songs in it with crappy, generic muzak.
The first time I have heard the song was in a TV-series named Space Above and Beyond. Dark Side of the Sun episode. The story is set in the year of 2063.
I don' t know how I landed on this page, but I`m happy to realize I have a good memory even after hearing the song only once back in 1995.
Enjoy a song that could be enjoyable on the radio even in 2011.

Just saw them tonight, and I've gotta say, kinksboss, no way Bonebreak is dispensable. He kept the show rolling all night and pounded the $#!t out of the skins.
Your description of Billy Zoom is spot on, though : ) What a great band. They started with the LA album in full, and this was the first song afterwards. And it IS the original lineup : )

I was fortunate enough to see them live in Boise a few years ago. Incredible!! I had a spot right up front, and Billy Zoom kept kneeling down in front of me and telling me to touch his guitar while he played, esp. during this song. Then after the show, he handed me his pick. It was initialed. Amazing, amazing experience!!
@TIMOTHYSAARINEN I know, I loved the way that video pans back and forth from the band, been looking for it myself, but thats allright, cause I'm seeing them twice next week in SF!
@kinksboss1, Didn't know they were still together. I suppose it's too much to ask that the original line up is back together. To me, the only dispensable member would be Bonebreak. No offense, Doctor! Can't imagine them without Billy Zoom standing there, his feet a mile apart, playing that silver sparkle Gretsch Duo Jet with that grin on his face.
This is even better, 30 years later.

They totally killed it at GV30 at the Santa Monica Civic! (Dec 16th 2011) Lots of good ol' fashioned pittin' and struttin'!

Wow I thank Pearl jam, If it wasn't for their concert in Costa Rica I would have never known this band

@Robmelgar Me too. I saw them in Mexico and they opened for them. First opening act I've ever seen that doesn't get booed off stage.

They still keep rolling along, doing the occasional tour. I just saw them in Minneapolis not long ago, and they sounded fantastic.

The best X album!

X were one of the more talented musicians in the punk scene. How John Doe played this bassline and sang at the same time is beyond me.

This band has real great rockabilly/punk rock sensibilities. I think the only other band in their class would be the Misfits and the Ramones.
