@mwillblade My family actually owns the one thats left in Weeksville NC there were two but when I was in 4th grade one of them burnt down with the pink floyd blimp inside. The one thats left if rented by a company called TCOM they have fixed it up and it is a pretty large employer for the small town where I live. That was the biggest fire Ive ever seen in my life to this day almost 20 years later and my mom told me if i was bad hell was 10 times hotter haha.
my dad worked in that building in the 80s and early 90s. I have seen that place several times when I went to the commissary, but never have been in side of it.
and then, when I was 32 years old I saw a video of Moffett Field Hangar 1. It was huge, glistening, and magnificent with the promise of the airships that briefly used it in the 1930s. And as I sat there, watching, I had the feeling that something was missing. And I thought to myself: is that all there is to Moffett Field Hangar 1? Is that. All there is? IS THAT ALL THERE IS? If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing...
I worked in hanger 2 at medical for awhile , then they transferred me to the base clinic. That is when I really started to hate my tour there . After 18mons. I was glad the Air Force was taking over and we can leave !!
@mwillblade I think my profile pic is actually a pic I took from the river with a Weather ship mooring out side of the remaining hangar. We have some really cool pics of the base in WWII if u want I could prabably send you some of them. One is of a Corsair flying through the wooden hangar with both doors open.
