For some reason even the USA Soloist feel really stiff and certainly not worth the 2k they want for them..thats just my opinion

It's a wonderful guitar and a friend told me it was the most balanced V he ever played. However, the tone is maybe a 7 on a scale from 1-10. It just doesn't compare to my Gibson Les Paul. I'm planning on putting a Dimarzio pickup in it. Haven't decided which one. But I play a lot of lead guitar and want that 80s sound....

How stupid can a human being be, demonstrating a marshall head at volume you can sit next to. Turn that amp on 10 and you will hear close to Randys sound, however is does not have altec speakers, it does not have his technique, so it might as well be a fender because you will never hear Randys sound again, unless you listen to his recordings. Yu-ya Atomic demo, much better.

The tone is good... but amps like this only sound awesome when cranked, and I mean cranked until they explode your skull and your neighbor ears, this is meant for stage volume. The strings gauge also matters, RR used 0.11s , I don't know what this guy is using but I don`t think it sounds as bad as some are saying here.

It does a good approximation of Randy's tone, but to get more of that brittle sound Randy was known for, you should use Altec speakers instead of Celestions in the cabinets.

Its basically like a modified plexi style. You want tighter..go for the JCM models. Or actually better yet, dont buy Marshall at all...they have a little sag, go for Engl or Bogner or Mesa etc.
