Charmant souvenir.

What is this? Nightmare! Have you ever listend Ochman's, Gilgi's, Caruso's, Gedda's performance, and even Villazon's or Bocelli's?
Very often I give myself the question: Why popular artists encrocach upon pieces of classical music, which require great technics, big voice and another sensibility. Example: Sting singing John Dowland's songs, Emerson Lake and Palmer performing Musorgski's "Pictures form exhibition" ,\nameless artist, performing Wagner's operas' ouvertures, and now Gilmour...
@Wiktor1Ha2 It's called "interpretation". Why would great pieces like this be considered off limits to contemporary artists, be they rock, pop, or else? In a way, these interpretations are an invitation to look into the origins of the pieces.
Mr. Gilmour's casual attire here is just perfect, hehe. I'm pleased he has the talent to dress comfortably. There aren't too many 'big shot' artists I'd fancy meeting really, but he is definitely high in rank amongst the few I do. Aye, it's just impossible to not respect everything he does artistically. What an ace musician, and a blessed asset to the world of music. But this song...I literally gasp when I hear its melancholic beauty begin to set in and take hold. Mr. Bizet, 'tis simply perfect.
But it makes me laugh, all those "best guitarist of the world" everyone thinks to recognize in so many guitarists (read other comments on other guitarists!)
perhaps people mix love - unconditionnal - of someone & talent, like so many people believe that their desire (want of sex ) is love.
@Beaujolois Comment peut-on comparer l'interprétation de D.GILMOUR à celle, par
exemple d'Alain VANZO (sublime). Chez GILMOUR on entend une chansonnette banale. Vraiment, il m'écorche les oreilles. Mais..............chacun ses goûts.
@DrownedAbove it means "i believe i'm still hearing...", it's a song from a georges bizet opera; the proper title is "aria des pêcheurs de perles" ("pearlfishermen's aria")
@OmaHans26 Sure, they definitely got better "operatic" voices. Gilmours interpretation is something different. If you cant enjoy it, too bad for you...
But it makes me laugh, all those "best guitarist of the world" everyone thinks to recognize in so many guitarists (read other comments on other guitarists!)

I do not know why people limit the variations of music with "genre" term.
Yes this song requires great technique and maybe Gilmour is not giving it all with the technique but the result is still EARGASMIC!
So please do not make a comparisons like Caruso vs Gilmour.
