  • I loved her " man so cheesy...but seriously anytime anywhere."

  • Some people say that I am the James kirk of our world. I am pretty charismatic and I too have a genius IQ. People listen to what I say and I am alpha male. A great leader.

  • @699backstab That's nice.

  • Who the hell are you supposed to throw rotten tomatoes at when you're watching a movie?

  • I have been a Trekkie since I can remember. And yes - I say TREKKIE rather than "Trekker." This new Star Trek is exactly what we Trek Fans needed. It's modern, fun and new but makes you feel comfortable as if the cast never changed. Kirk is still brash and intense while Spock perfectly counters with steady verbal perfection. Fellow Trekkies: Get off your high horses, return to earth and appreciate all this film has to offer.

  • What i loved about this movie is that it was totally comprehensible even to a newcomer. As a fourteen your old girl I've never so much as seen a single episode of the original series, and yet I was completely immersed into this remake/spinoff

  • It deserved its rating.

  • I think Rotten Tomatoes is getting a kick-back from the proceeds of this movie. Maybe R.T. is getting a percentage of the DVD sales. This movie was terrible. All the movie did was to reset the series so that Paramont Pictures can make money on the retelling of the story of the enterprise again. Did anyone see the obvious aftermarket item? It was the toy phaser pistols given to Kirk and Spock when the boarded the romulan ship.

  • @WarBerJr02 Really? I don't recall any of the portion of the star trek timeline presented in this movie to have been shown in any other trek production. Plus, I wouldn't even call it a "reboot" - it doesn't retell the original story, it spins one of its own. And I hate to break it to you, but EVERY movie that is supposed to be a big hit is made in order to benefit financially its producers - that doesn't mean they are all crap. As a trekkie, I personally really loved the movie.

  • @Sculpur That is kind of the point. The fact that it, spins its own story of the timeline of the original Enterprise, kind of eliminates all of the events in TOS all-together, did you catch that? This allows the new group of producers to re-tell the story of TOS enterprise any way they want to. And, it will be canon, as if TOS, TNG, DS9, and all of the other movies before it, never existed.

Some say I am a trekkie, but I think this movie stinks.

  • @WarBerJr02 Well if that happens it really will be a big letdown. But, the elder series (and movies) will never be forgotten really, and I doubt they will remake the entire star trek universe in future franchises - I think they picked up this part of the timeline for an alternative movie just because it was the one which has been left untouched for the longest time, and would have caught the greatest interest.

  • That guy who gave his last review can go fuck himself. This movie was put a lot of time and work in it, and this asshole who is a "movie reviewer" thinks he can just say that it looks like if they're not trying? Dude, go quit and look for a job you'd be better in, like a door greeter at WalMart.

  • @rickyrolled7 he meant it dosent feel like its trying to be as good as it is.

  • I miss this show every damn day.

  • THIS MOVIE WAS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC & ONE HECK OF A RUSH!

  • Don't you think that the guy looks like john krazinski!!!

  • I loved the newer movies more then the older ones, the older ones seemed too outdated and Star Trek takes place in the distant future and you get that feeling with the new one but not the old one.

  • not a treky fan at all but after watching this movie i might just start watching the episodes for fun xD

  • This movie sucked balls compared to the orignal movies.

  • fucking sell outs

  • I am not a Star Trek fan (pure Star Wars fangirl all the way!). I tried watching the old ST movies and show as a kid and found them uninteresting and boring. I walked out of seeing this movie absolutely loving it and it makes me kind of wanna hire some of the old movies and shows and try watching them again :).

  • like vampires? Try "Last Rites: The return of Sebastian Vasilis"

  • I can't believe some people actually didn't like movie! Just goes to show that movie go-ers these days dont know whats good anymore...

  • I am not a big Star trek fan so i do not have any precedence to compare this film to. But i thought that this was a great film and Chris Pine did a great job. Also very clever writing that you can actually bite into and say "yeah okay i'll go with it"

  • Bones reminds me of Dwight from the office

  • @VelaToNorma7 Yeah I can see it. Wouldn't have noticed if you didn't point it out though.

  • This is the first and only Star Trek I've ever seen.

  • @CookieMonsterPro2 Same here, lady.

  • @VelaToNorma7 wait, you think just because I don't watch Star Trek I'm a girl. wow, you're an uber geek.

  • @CookieMonsterPro2 only you're thinking that...schizo freak lol

  • @VelaToNorma7 you're an uber geek. It feels bad I have to say that twice.

  • @CookieMonsterPro2 Says the guy who uses the word 'uber'. Twice.

  • @badcompanyization I bet you don't even know what uber means, dumbass.

  • @CookieMonsterPro2 Oh yeah, thought you'd just throw it in there one more time did you? Well, I guess that is what's important in life.

  • @badcompanyization dude seriously, get off your period.

    Uber

  • @CookieMonsterPro2 Ooh, female bodily function jokes. You must be an uber popular one.

  • @badcompanyization I was right? Didn't see that one coming.

  • @CookieMonsterPro2 At what point did I say you were right?

  • @CookieMonsterPro2 lol fag.

  • @VelaToNorma7 retard...

  • People on here are crazy. This movie was so much fun to watch

  • they stole the bar scene from star wars

  • BAWWW BAWWWW BAAAAWWWWWW You butthurt little bitches make me ashamed to be a Star Trek fan. You were determined to hate this film the second you heard the words "reboot" and "Star Trek" and you just nit-pick the shit out of it. The last two TNG films were terrible and Enterprise was a joke. It was stale, it was tired, and it needed a punch of adrenaline. It's not a perfect film, because no film is. I can't think of a more perfect way to give this franchise a new burst of energy.

  • @WashingMachine0 Sometimes, enough is enough. I was perfectly ok with nothing new for Star Trek for a generation. Lord knows that letting it lie fallow helped from '66 to '79. With the last 4 movies, Enterprise, and then this new movie, it seemed like a child showing you a toy, then running back to his storage bin, fetching a new, only marginally different toy, and holding it in front of your face. It's the same action dribble. (Enterprise was worse, but only marginally)

  • @WashingMachine0 oh god....

    don't even say enterprise

    It brings back terrible memories

  • @WashingMachine0

it's easy to nitpick because its an awful movie with gaping plotholes

  • @WashingMachine0

Who are you talking too, because rotten tomatoes gave it 95%

  • @WashingMachine0 its not a bad film its just a bad star trek film

  • @WashingMachine0 You should be. Star trek is a disgrace to real sci fi. Go watch Tron/Legacy ya homo!

  • @WashingMachine0 I'm ashamed to be a Trek fan, too. Except for the names, this movie had little to do with Star Trek. If Gene Roddenberry had been alive he would have had his name removed from the film. Sure, it was a fun action/sci-fi film but not Star Trek. "New burst of energy"? Seriously? It was Paramount's attempt to revive a dead franchise - flogging a dead horse, in other words. This movie was made for business purposes. End of story. That's what makes it not so great.

  • @spacecowboy5000 Well fortunately, a lot of "new people" liked it and it will continue to endure. Sorry you're so bitter against it but as a long time Trek fan, I'm glad to see it enduring.

  • @WashingMachine0 i agree with most of your points, but I LIKED ENTERPRISE THANKS!!!

  • I just realized who this Bones reminds me of.... Dwight Shrute.

  • Ugh. A video made by J.J. Abrams groupies. Fail.

  • LOVES ME SOME CAPS

  • An exceedingly bad movie. I've seen worse, but often. There just wasn't anything really interesting. Also had lots of contradictions and the characters were very very far from themselves. The plot kind of bounced around randomly. Worst of all was the music, which was in EXTREME EPIC DANGER CLIMAX NOW mode the WHOLE TIME! I can't stay tensed up on the edge of my seat for 2 hours.

  • @waldoman7 , in fact the music wasn't in extreme danger mode all the time. If you want your opinion to be taken seriously you'll have to be more objective.

  • @jemimakahn

i see no way that objectivity could have anything to do with it. I'll suppose i'll address the issue anyway and say that I am only a very casual Star Trek fan and went into that movie with no real expectations. The music WAS near constantly very loud and intense though. clearly i exagerated a bit but it was worse than any other movie i've seen in that regard.

  • I was never into star trek or star wars, but this looks interesting...

  • this movie was actually so amazing.

never watched star trek b4 this movie and i thought it was gonna be boring as shit, but it was soooooooooooo kickass :))

LOOOVVEEDD spock and kirk :)) zach did an amzing job- oddly sexy :PP

  • God does that brunette girl ever say anything nice about any movie? haha

  • @mckfrr no...

  • 95%??? This movie sucked. Kirk's character was retarded because of how outlandishly they portrayed the stereotype he played, and the whole movie was based on that. Got even worse when old Spock meets Kirk.

  • @IANicecreamCONE you suck

  • @mariopawnch thanks for the feedback.

  • @IANicecreamCONE shit, reading your comment was 5 seconds of my life i won't get back

  • @TheFeardom Replying to it was 10 seconds of your life you won't get back.

  • Very dumb movie. Gene Roddenberry must be spinning in his grave.

  • @MomoTheBellyDancer Roddenberry almost destroyed killed star trek

  • 9.5/10, BRILLANT FILM!

  • Great movie, with awesome effects

    and cool story 9/10

  • its good that they based this on star trek 2 wrath of khan, cuz lets face it the rest of the G1 star trek movies afterwards (cept for the last one) were super boring.. now the next generation had a few hits on their hands, and I think that nemesis was HIGHLY underrated... best space battle in History.... not star trek history, but HISTORY... that is all...

  • KHAAAAAAAAAAAAANN!!!!!!!!

  • i like all the trek series and i really enjoyed this movie.

sure it was very different and much, much fastern than the trek ever was. but it was just pure fun.

this was a movie you just had to watch in the cinema.it was so exciting, you even did not had time to eat your popcorn

popcorn movie .. sure. but a good one :)

  • @Prometheus4096 Embarrased? This movie was the one that got me into Star Trek!

  • @Prometheus4096

Keep telling yourself that. And look forward to complaining some more with the upcoming sequels.

  • As a fan of Star Trek of any kind, this is Da Balls!!! Almost, and very close to being better than Wrath of Khan. One thing Wrath of Khan has that this one doesn't, duh, Khan. Khan is one of the best villains in tv/movie history.

  • @brisco42 You know the great thing about this, though? With this reboot, they can bring Khan back!

  • Star Trek was better than Avatar. I love the original series and this film was brilliant.

  • @loner1878 Completely agree and I did like Avatar, but Star Trek holds the cards for best sci-fi movie of 2009 and one of the best movies that year. Inglourious Basterds though was the best film of 2009, well hell, of the decade for me.

  • @brisco42

    Well said!

  • the actors were great! I was shocked that spock and kirk didn't like each other! Not hardcore but i think fan or no fan the movie was good. I do think the villian was a softie until the end...

  • I like this movie. It was entertaining. However as a long time Star Trek fan I would have preferred a origin story movie to be about the actual characters of the series, and not some alternate universe. The alternate universe spin is just a way for the movie makers to be able to include whatever they want from the existing storyline and ignore everything else. And that is just cheap.

  • @Venefica82 Kirk is a brat deserving a beating, Spock (the depreciated of the cast) this in constant state of Pon Far, Mcoy obtained the doctorate in a center clandestine of abortion, Sulu doesn't know as entering in warp with the ship, the computer of the ship doesn't understand the Russian accent of Chekov. And Star Wars's copied special effects (as the lightspeed for Aldeeran / Vulcan with passage for the shower of meteorites) they were sad.

  • This isn´t Star Trek, this is ordinary movie :(

  • I'm in love with Ellen Fox.

  • loved the movie...neew age...but it kinda didnt do justees

  • This was such a fun and exciting movie. Loved it: 10 out of 10.

  • Fonzi says, Ehhhh... Star Trek.. jumps the shark... Ensign Chachi Arcola and Ensign "Shortcake" to the bridge, we have a spin-off bridge station series for you...Ehhhhhh...*thumbs down*... whoooooo....*shurg*

  • "Oh, boo hoo! I'm a poor Trekkie, and J.J. Abrams destroyed my favorite franchise!"

Yeah, god forbid someone should renew something that had grown so old and stale that they cancelled each and every show. This is, without a doubt, the best Star Trek ever.

  • why just positive opinions - the movie wasn't that great - the best parts where scenes - that became special just because of the Star Trek world - the birth of Kirk, the first meetings of Kirk with Spock, Bones or Scoty

  • It's success speaks for itself. Everyone who thinks it was crap...well, you're the minority.

  • Bah, why can't people enjoy this movie? I enjoyed it. It was fascinating.

  • @kingbernam Because I was blinded by all the light. I couldn't see what happened because of all the lens flares.

  • @kingbernam because the movie had so many flares if left me blinded before I could actually see anything.

  • BADASS

  • That movie is ass!

  • Wait little wonder Kirk DINT want to step into his fathers footsteps because daddy saved lives?...would that not be THE reason to join starfleet?

Kirk ''my father was a hero....so i drink myself stupid''

bad script. bad villains, copy of Starwars almost scene by scene, bad science.

    yeah it deserves 95% :S

  • @henkman00 As far as Kirk and your question, obviously you haven't dealt with many people in your life. People are just as likely to have the reaction you think as they are the one presented.

Some people get bitter and angry when they don't have a parent.

  • This movie was so much fun. It was the first time I was on the edge of my seat since I was a child. When the credits finally rolled at the end, the entire theater applauded and cheered. That is the sign of an excellent movie.

  • It was fun, I enjoyed watching it. But it probably wont be one of those memorable movies for me nor will I be watching it again for quite some time. :P

  • Uhura...slutty? What movie were you watching?

  • Thsi one :(

  • i love the lens flares in this movie. especially since they're anamorphic.

  • After reading some of the comments below, I have realized the public schools system failing. The punctuation and grammar is awful! This is what I see throughout the wall, Aye mang diz movie be azz shit, LENSFLARES!!! J.J Abrams is a bitch slap his bitch ass up nicka!

  • star wars SUCKS

    STAR TREK RULES

  • @crvlolo2 Sorry but NO! Star Trek is not even in the same league as Star Wars. That's all I have to say. Oh Star Trek is very cool as well but better, again, NO!

  • ok these people obviously aren't trekkies except the white guy in the glasses

  • Yeah. But he clearly buys the "alt. timeline/alt. universe excuse".

  • And where are the tomatoes? I wanna throw sooooome :-P

  • im sticking with 1-4 and first contact as movies to watch for star trek movies, skip the rest end of rant.

  • sorry four strongest characters were spock, bones, scotty and spock prime, the rest all playing weaker parts compared to original actors. even classic tv show music would have been cool like having classic fight scene music in the bridge fight with kirk and spock. terribly executed attempt to make money like terminator salvation, most dissapointing of 2009 for me.

  • fighting and bickering and lack of warmth and friendship between the crew makes me wonder if this will make it past a 2nd sequel.the four strongest characters were spock, bones, .shatner was a better actor than people give credit as he had terrible sets to work with and it was acting and story that propelled the original series, not visual effects.

the music to this also sucked balls, wishing they would go back to the original (or two) for music as thats why tng movies sucked removing music.

  • while i love lost, this movie makes me wonder if abrams bothered to watch a trek movie. without quinto and nimoy this movie would have tanked, the humor and character writing is off in this with kirk making bones comments towards spock, kirk was always mediatory between bones and spock and humor along with mild bickering is what made the original series. this is like eating storebought frozen "gourmet" pizza and everyone telling you its great when you know it tastes like shit.

  • you really dont know much about anything now do you. just some critic that thinks you have all the facts right. re think it bud

  • go fuck yourself dimit and get cancer i have a right to my opinion just like every other american. fuck off.

  • The whole time-travel subplot was really offsetting for me. I tend to avoid Time travel movies like the plague. On the other hand, it delivered. We all knew what to expect from an update, and if you expected long interstellar diplomatic meetings, you really need to get out more.

  • This was the worst thing in space opera since the Phantom Menace. It doesn't even try to be sci-fi, it's just pure, mindless, uniteresting dross.

  • This movie was mindblowing!..... Mindblowingly LAME. Overblown hype. Just shows how much the general public are mindless hype drones.

    Watered Down Fun-Trek.

Star Trek was never meant to be mindless entertainment. Shame on you Paramount, and shame on you JJ Abrams. I expected much more from the man who gave us Lost and Cloverfield.

  • @JulyForToday

i think it was exactly the kind of crap you'd expect after seeing lost and cloverfield.

  • @JulyForToday Cloverfield realy? You could say Cloverfield is better than anything with the world Star Trek on in even if it was weak?

  • Hell, Engineering is a BEER FACTORY. That should have told everybody where this shit was going. This movie is for the NEW Generation of internet STUPID. So many movies now follow the following themes. SEX, DRINKING and being DRUNK, Getting High or OVER USE of drugs, IN YOUR FACE SFX, MORE SEX, poop jokes, young really ANNOYING BRATS, more drugs, MORE SFX, PEE JOKES, EVEN MORE SEX all delivered all by young PRETTY FACED actors who CAN'T ACT!!! That is the sate of film making today

  • Hey if YOU USE ALL CAPS SOME MORE maybe someone might TAKE YOU SERIOUSLY. RAWR RAWR RAWR HEAR ME BITCH AND MOAN

  • And Shatner was a superlative actor your going to tell us.

I've been a watcher of Star Trek in many of its T.V. incarnations (except Voyager). I also liked a few of the movies. But this new one was the most fun. And that's I go to the movies, to have fun.

  • Star Trek for the brain dead. Look at all the idiots in this video making comments. Beer guzzling frat boy retards. This movie was made for idiots by idiots.

  • and it made oh so much more money than all the other Star Treks

  • "Dr Bones" LOL!!!!

  • I watched this movie with my brother echo'ing in my ear that it was lame..

So I couldn't really enjoy the movie to the fullest because I was simply looking for flaws ;<

  • loved this one. can't wait for the DVD release

  • i thought it was good but the romance between spock and uhura was stiff and awkward

  • Maxamill BC...sorry i think i spelled the name wrong...but the new kirk's name is max...

  • this was a definite rip off there is this kid on art wanted . com... this was a freaken ripoff from a story called maxamilion BC....the artist name is daniel clark

  • So really you don't review the movie you just let a bunch of unpaid youtube users review it for you?

  • They get a cash prize if Rotten Tomatoes pick their reviews.

  • This Trekkie loved it!

  • To many bald dudes in the beginning of this movie. The Kelvin Captain was bald. All of the Romulans were bald. The pilot of the medical shuttle carrying Kirk's wife and baby was bald. It got a little confusing seeing on those shiny heads and lens flares together.

  • This movie is not star trek, I think people who usually don t watch star trek will like it, trekkies won t.

  • trekkies did you obviously didn't watch it it was an alternate timeline and it was made by a trekkie fan.

  • Star trek for me is much more than special effects, and if you take special effect out of this movie nothing else remains. The worst of all is the young Kirk, what a repulsive character, he deserves to get slapped, arrogant little brat just out of kindergarden, William Shatner is a man, this guy is a kid. And alternate timeline=no ideas for the scrypt. I watched the movie like 6 months ago, and it was so bad that I can barely remmeber what was it about.

    Sorry about my spelling.

  • this actually was more than special effects but this had space battles and people won't enjoy watching a toy and cardboard boxs fight ok dude. And he was meant to be that way they established that it was an reality and that there were others. And they did that so they could do what they want with start trek. You say it was bad but the fact it got acclaim and the box office numbers it all adds up to it must be good you just didn't pay attetion.

  • Star trek was not about its characters, it was about future way of thinking, morality above everything, justice, being fair, this is a teen movie about teen people and Star trek is just a scenery for that. Alternate time line was not necessary. Star trek is a genre for it self, it is not typical sf movie, and this film, it is action movie in space, nothing more, nothing less. My favorite st movie is Nemesis, good scenario, good characters, moral dilemma and good effects, and Tom Hardy was great.

  • Actually it was needed jj wanted to do a star trek his own way and by doing this he can you say it was action but people said it brought back star trek spirit your one opinion to millions. And they were not teens god damn it! they were in like 20's nearing 30.And that's what this did it challenged everything but your intitled to your sucky opinion no matter how many people disagree. But when you said you liked nemesis you really made yourself look stupid. And it wasn't just action god!.

  • besides many trekkies bashe dit but cirtics the general audeince the old cast writters and all them liked it sorry trekkies your alone.ha nemesis! bet you liked the incredible hulk 2008 movie.

  • Moronic Trekkies bashed it (look at their posting habits.) But actually if you go to most Trek forums or sites the film is actually highly rated. Trek fans like it, the critics like it, it was a huge success.

  • Thats because in your face video games have subverted REAL film making techniques. for the glory of WE WANT JUST COOL SFX and lots of mindless action with stupid Beavis & Butthead humor for the last 15 years. Yeah it's highly rated for the brain dead video zombies and critics who haven't had a bowel movement in like 10 years. Huge success my ass.

  • Ever most Trekkies like it.

  • "this is a teen movie about teen people and Star trek is just a scenery for that."

You didn't really quite think this through, at all. Sorry. Plus list all of the "teen characters" and the "teen people" this is about please.

    Oops, you can't.

  • I m sorry but I don t understand your post. Second paragraph?

Anyway I love star trek, I watched every single movie and 95 percent of tv shows, especially Voyager, I haven missed a single episode.

But this last movie was just poorly made in my opinion. I can accept the fact that you think it is a great film but why can t you accept the fact that there are lot of fans of star trek out there that think that this movie is not good. I m just one of many who think so and I just wanted to say that.

  • "I m sorry but I don t understand your post."

Okay, read through the whole post carefully. Then you will.

"I m sorry but I don t understand your post. Second paragraph?"

Okay now you are making more accusations that you can not back up because they are false.

Please provide any and all hard evidence of this. I'm interested in polls conducted with Trek fans, etc.

Also, you completely avoided the first question because you have trouble understanding. List all the "teen people" in the film.

  • You wrote:

Plus list all of the "teen characters" and the "teen people" this is about please.

This is not grammatically correct. I don t understand you, not because I don t share your opinion, but because you have poor word construction in a sentence. I belong to a Slavic nation but I usually understand written English, thee my friend, I don t understand.

Anyway, this matter is getting to old to fast. Find another person to argue with. Enjoy the sequel, I know I probably won t.

    bye

  • Comment removed

  • "This is not grammatically correct."

It is fine. However, perhaps you simply choose not to understand it.

    I will repeat...

Please list all of the "teen characters" and "teen people" this is about.

Then you are to list all of the hard evidence including polls, etc., which suggest that so many Trekkies don't like it.

    That's not hard to understand.

    GO.

  • My God, is this subject so important to you, or you have a fetish for commenting? You know, there is more to life than commenting this unimportant issue. I give up, you win, the movie is excellent. Have a good life and goodbye forever.

  • If you didn't like this film, then you're not a real fan of "Star Trek." ;)

  • Interesting conclusion, totally wrong though. But I m not going to argue this with you, you already formed your opinion, and it seems you formed mine as well. Thank you for analyzing me so correctly and completely without even knowing me at all. Bye forever

  • Yup, good bye. Thanks for expressing a one-note opinion without much of an argument. ;)

  • Što sve pička neće roditi, a što sve kurac neće napraviti. Bolje bi ti bilo da ti se stari izdrka u goldun. Nabavi život seronjo a ne si naša pošten svit zajebavati.

  • same for me. This movie sucked. The only thing I liked about it was Scotty and Bones, the others just lost it, totally lost it. We can't burn witches anymore, how about movie directors? ;-)

  • And without effect this would still be the same same delemas same footage same characters. And this kirk was a young one a boy in a mans body shatners is the older more wiser him rember this chronicles the first adventure he didn't just become like the kirk we know there was something inbetween. You know what i think? i think your a angry trekkie fan who can't see that this wasn't just a big action movie you gave nemesis such great detail like it was god and said this was just action part 2.

  • Bartman I just stated my opinion, you disagree with me, I disagree with you, but what gives you the right to call me angry, to say I make my self look stupid, and to say I like Incredible Hulk? You don t know me, you don t know my age, sex, religion or anything else, but somehow you know that I m angry and stuff. I didn t assume anything about you neither I insulted you. So why are you insulting me? Just because, I don t think like you. I m not you, that s why I don t think like you. Bye Bartman
