The only thinhg that has improved in drum and bass since the making of tracks like this and Decoder - Pyramids is the overall production sound as technolgy has improved. Tracks such as: Mampi Swift - The One, Dj Die - Clear Skies and Moving Fusion - Turbulance would never have been as big had it not been for classics to aspire to. D&B now is at best regurgitated... I stopped buying drum and bass in 2004 for lack of great tracks to choose from. Don't get me wrong there probably are some.
Do you know the track that samples "yeah from the underworld coming from the underworld... don't try to catch it, it happens to intensively?" Been looking for it since like 99, but its circa 97. Just heard it on a Fracture and Neptune mix. Spent 40 minutes on discogs, no luck. Thanks.
2 Slow? What you on about, it pisses on any dnb track made from 1997 to now. In fact with this one, Soul in Motion and True Stories as a trilogy Krust claims the crown of Don of Dons, no one can come close to those 3. He Transcended the genre of Drum and bass. I wish some of these new dnb producers would actually listen to those 3 and try and take up the baton.
There are far too many throw away dnb tunes these days, which really are nothing more than average at best :(
Every time I listen to this weeks latest offerings on Chemical or Juno etc, you really struggle to find 5 REALLY good tunes out of hundreds!!
I remember when you had to struggle to choose which ones you would leave behind at the record shop each week because there were too many good ones that you wanted but couldnt afford!
@feeofee Agree totally. tunes like this changed the map. Dnb on one side house and 4 4 beats on the other. This was music for listening to as well as raving to. what is going on now is homogonized boring bullshit and acts like pendulum have alot to answer for and mainly negative. Big up Roni Size and his crew.
Too many people think a tune has to be fast to be good, which is just a lazy way to put energy into it.
Listen to Ray Keiths tunes over the years, they are pretty much all slower than whatever else was being released at the time, but they are all still smashers ;)
