with Napua Woodd, Amy Gilliom's grandmother taught hula in Hollywood during 1950's/60's, my mom danced with her troope (halau), as they called it in those days. Enjoyed viewing!!
Great memories of early TV. Harry Owens brought a lot of good Hawaiian music into our homes. Hilo Hattie was my favorite. Jack Nars was prolific on channel 5 in L.A.. Regal Pale was right up there with Brew 102..ugggh.
Simply wonderful. Thank you for posting! Love Hilo Hattie. Now I'm introduced to Harry Ownens.

The opening "pounding poi" rhyme was created for the Kodak Hula Show, when the "poi man" demonstrated how it was done for tourists to photograph.
"Ma ma, don't scold me
Someday I sure make good
Hawaii get statehood
Me president, maybe" - written in 1954, when Hawaii was working to become a state instead of a territory.

Do you have more? This is "fair use" since these have never been available for
sale (as far as I know).
Some shows must have had the late Mikilani Fo playing steel guitar....Back in the
Forties and Fifties, this was a novelty....
