  • Love Cliff to bits and all being a bass player but when the riff changings at 03:31

  • Cliff Burton. And nothing more

  • Where does the time go? This vid is the day before my dad died! How can it be so long ago! Time flies by way to fast! Twentyfive years amazing! RIP Cliff!

  • piękne...po prostu piękne :)

  • AMAZING

  • buenisimo..... esos eran buenos tiempos... no como ahora valen callampa los Metallica

  • RIP Cliff Burton. 25 years is longer than some of his fans have been alive, that's saying something.

  • whats kirks gear here?

  • @drorden

He has a Jackson Rhoads, oh and btw, Jackson pwns ESP.

  • hey look! real lighters in the audience. Turn Your cell phones off and use a Bic.

Fuck this cell phone torch shit.

  • I´m a huge Metallica fan since I´m 13 years old - 24 now - but I won´t pretend I know anything about Cliff´s personality, because I don´t. But I don´t think anybody would dare to deny how he forgot himself while he was on the stage, playing the music that he always seemed to be so fond of. God bless this true artist.

  • The 80's Metal EFFFING ROCKED!!!! We will never get good music like this anymore and it hurts me how the music industry killed music today. Today to many kids are to hooked on hip hop, rap and cookie cutter pop music like Ke$ha.

  • @tonebeatz24 Oh I know, it's sickening

  • CLIFF has his own band playing in Heaven and GODS want to headbang,,,, R.I.P Cliff

  • R.I.P. James.

  • @momscarface2

    O_o

  • @boyacawwe lol i was just kidding, i was bored :P

  • @momscarface2 lol

  • This song will be played @ my memorial..... it has been written

  • Cliff Burton was Cliff Burton.

  • I miss the days when metallica were just a bunch of headbangers

  • the world would be so different if cliff, kurt cobain,, and dimebag were still alive

  • WWCD - What Would Cliff Do?

  • Hard sound. Love it.........

  • The good old time, haha Love Metallica

  • You know what's nuts? This song is coming up on being 30 years old. Show me anything done in the last 30 years that approaches this level of metal genius.

  • Music doen't get any better than this!!!!

  • i love these guys!!i show a documentary about them on youtube which containes five 9minutes videos and it showed metallica telling that when they were young the used to get drunk before every concert! that's why their performance now is better!

  • @cepiefoc there old concerts were better you know.

  • I just love that 80's delay on guitar! ;D <3

  • R.I.P CLIFF

  • Their first ballad!

  • WHO DISLIKED!!!!

  • its fast right ?

  • Cliff Burton is God, Dimebag Darrell is Jesus.

  • @ThePranjak And Ronnie James DIO is the holy ghost

  • Look at the size of Hetfield's hightops! Awesome!!

  • god bless cliff burton

  • R.I.P. Cliff and Metallica

  • why do people like the personsmore after they r dead

most of the people didn't talk about him in the 80's but now every one talks only about late. cliff lee Burton but not of jason and rob

i say that every bassist has it's own personality

late cliff lee Burton=head banging and ubar awesome solos and sound

Jason newsted= ubar awesome pedal using

Robert Trujillo= madness rhythm and gr8 person

    thumbs up if u agree

  • @uploadurdeath oh hell yeah i agree with u totally, in my opinion jason is my fav but rob is a really good person, and cliff is preety awesome too

  • @uploadurdeath I wasn't alive in the 80's

  • @uploadurdeath

Its called respect for the dead while immortalising them with dignity. You cannot do that to the living. Jason will be immortalised too when he dies for example. Also to note, Cliffs death was very very premature respectively.

  • @uploadurdeath I´m always saying that jason is much better than robert, one of the mistakes of metallica was get him out of the band, he "fits" better than trujillo in metallica

  • @uploadurdeath people always talk about Rob and alot of people past and modern days payed more attention to guitars instead of the full band

  • @uploadurdeath only fact is Cliff was an amazing writter and contributed pretty much to some genres you are listening today... And he contributed the best thrash metal albums in hostory!

  • @uploadurdeath Most people didn't talk about Cliff in the 80's because Metallica was just breaking into the mainstream at the time of Cliff's death. I owned Master of Puppets when it came out and became a die hard when ...And Justice For All was released. I didn't admire Cliff more because he was dead; I listened to him and was blown away. He did things on the bass that were extraordinary. He was the Jimi Hendrix of the bass guitar.

  • Cliff Burton died because the Rock Band In Heaven (Which consisted of Hendrix and later Dio) needed a bass player.

  • @GodofRok1 dont forget dimebag darrell, kurt cobain and the rev

  • @rimticketts I don't. Its not easy to forget some great legends in metal

  • cliff didn't die god took him for bass lessons

  • @MrMetallica59 u betcha

  • Somehow it's the drums that catch your attention during the solo.

  • anyone notice cliff head bangs off time?

  • @razielct, Cliff is so awesome he doesn't need to head bang on time

  • this song is perfect, the best fade to black live

  • Comment removed

  • Have you seen the '85 video of For Whom the Bell Tolls. Much better view of Cliff's playing. He was a maniac on the bass. We miss you Cliff.

  • who ever does not love this is not a real headbanger

  • @The166devon, I couldn't agree with you more than I do now

  • cliff burton is the best bassists ever rip burton

  • Cliff is now in the heaven's teaching god to play bass <3

  • 4 people in the world should die >_> (the ones that disliked -.-)

  • christ this song is genius

  • CLIFF COME BACK TO ME CLIFF

  • how does megadeth - kill the king live have 2 times more views than this?

  • metall has changed man, metals not what it used to be.

now its nothing but screams and growls :/

  • @dawgsftw sad but true :(

  • cliff murio teniendo aun mucho k dar u.u

  • @chiminari me imagino a Cliff Burton con la banda de estos días...sería aun mas espectacular...pero por algo falleció...Está tocando para dios...

  • @SlayerPhantomLord u,,u tienes razon

  • Ah, memories of summer of 86, when Metallica was the breath of fresh air that everyone needed!! Out of all the bands I've seen live, my best memory is Metallica at San Diego Sports Arena opening for Ozzy!! We really gave the band everything we had, and they have gotten all the fame and fortune they deserve!!

  • @1970michplar - your a lucky guy man.... i was just been born!

Would give anything to see them in the 80`s!!

  • Death Magnetic was pretty good but I don't think back to the god old days yet. And Trujillo is bringing back to that. He is the reason why they played orion live for the first time in 20 yrs.

  • YES, NOW I CAN HEAR PERFECTLY A BASS

  • if cliff were alive today, metallica wud still have put out albums like st. anger and re-load that were criticized by many metallica fans....they got their fame with the black album which put them in to the main stream culture and when that happend ur almost forced to change your music to match the changin times...i dont know, just saying....but Cliff was the shit and death magnetic brought metallica back to the good ol days

  • @newyorkyanks22 Lol? Black album? i think Kill 'em All and Ride The Lightning Master of Puppets and Ajfa did more with them btw Those albums are better anyways

  • best song off of ride the lightning

  • Thank you for the awesome post.

    Thank you Satan for youtube.

    Metallica, grow your hair back...

  • @mazzapazz Fuck You,Fuck Satan,And mostly Important Fuck You............

    Rock On Metalllica.........

  • dave did more for metallica then grant did though. if i can remember right all grant did was the hit the lights solo

  • gah the reverb is too much at the beginning! other than that, a perfect song! RIDE THE LIGHTNING!! lml

  • :O!!! thank you Cliff!! thank you...

  • Finally good footage of Metallica with Cliff Burton! :D

  • cliff owns too much!!! in those concerts where he was in u could actually hear the bass

  • 5:37-6:15 EEEPPPIIICCC

  • the bass fills :D

  • fuckin sick!

i love this song my favorite so much passion metallica should have stuck to this real thrash radio rock is garbage!

  • love this. the bass is really loud and audible in this <3

  • cliff burton was a musicgenious.

  • ten kawałek miażdży.... greets from Poland for all Metallica fans

  • R.I.P. CLIFF!!!!!

  • CLIFF BURTON WAS GENIUS!!!!!!!!!

  • @MrWinestyle HE WAS BETTER THAN A GENIUS, HE WAS A GOD

  • @MrWinestyle Cliff Burton also was the Heart of Metallica! \m/

  • @Vegetsu101 You are right!

  • Cliff in our minds RIP

  • from 5:13 to 5:18 you can't hear the solo from kirk so good.

    is from all the noise

  • Words cannot describe.

  • i kinda agree with you

  • \m/ R.I.P. Cliff \m/

  • jodete falso puto metallica seguira siendo metallica aunke ya no este cliff

  • So fucking EPIC! \m/

  • it must've been hard to see cliff under that bus, let alone a great friend and one hell of a bassist go away from them, when i saw the interview where james went outside the hotel and screamed 'clif where are you?' i nearly cried myself

  • May I ask where you saw that exactly? Please.

  • Just type "James hetfield on cliff burton interview" or something like that..

  • Ok, Thanks!

  • fuk yeah me to dude!!

    R.I.P. CLIFF BURTON

  • where you saw that interview my friend???

  • Not the original lineup of Metallica, but the CLASSIC lineup of Metallica!

  • i think wen metallica lost cliff they werent as heavy in there other albums as they were in the first 3

  • Comment removed

  • a bit too much reverb on kirks guitar in the beginning

  • 4:30, my favorite part...all 4 of the original members just jammin! awesome sight

  • the original 4 were the older group with muestaine and cliff

  • The original members were James Hetfield (guitar and vocals), Lars Ulrich (drums), Dave Mustaine (guitar) and Ron McGovney (bass).

  • there we are ty i always forgot Ron´s name XD

  • it is not the original 4

ron mcgowney and dave mustaine is not there

  • dave mustaine is not originial, the original formation is

    James Hetfield

    Lars Ulrich

    Ron McGovney

    Lloyd Grant (not Dave Mustaine)

  • that is true but i couldve sworn i saw at one point there was a lineup of james, lars, ron, lloyd grant, and dave mustaine at the same time but if that was so it was probably a short stint

  • Has any of you guys noticed that so many times, he headbangs at half the speed of the song/drum beat.

I wonder what he was hearing in his head while playing.

Bet hes heaving a blast up there with Dime.

  • For some reason, Lars looks frickin epic in this one!

    Thanx for the upload.

  • rockers in peace

    r.i.p

    in memory of cliff burton

  • Hi Cliff, how ya doin'?...

  • r.i.p cliff burton

  • The official report was black ice although none was ever found. He died during the European leg of the Master of Puppets tour, sometime late in 1986.

  • september 27th but the police said that it was 37°F

  • Comment removed

  • Cliff is one of the best headbangers i've ever seen.

  • Yeah, when he woke up, he would complain about his neck hurting! That was so awesome (his headbanging!)

  • the best i've seen

  • @fpskirk no man cliff is the best oheadbangers we have ever seen !!!! not one of the best but the best .....

    Rest In Piece Clifford Burton!

  • The history of Metallica is full of complex moments, but (from the point of view of someone not in the band and very marginally in the crew) I see the death of Cliff as a moment who gave them all the will to fight harder. And for that , I will always follow their example.

  • as much as i love metallica, i'm going to have to disagree with you there. to me, when they lost cliff, they went downhill from there. and justice was definately a great album, just not as good as master. and then black album was ok...nothing more to me. and then we all know the rest =P

  • Not ok. I saw Big Mick in the morning: "Lars is at his mom's, James and Kirk flying to SFO. I drove them to the airport." He showed the hotel broken windowsl. James' d gone angry with the grief of losing Cliff. I took the train and cried for days. In october they stood again, like giants! New Jason was freaked, and scared a bit. For years, the fans treated him like a nothing replacement to Cliff. Eventually, fans started to respect him. Too late maybe as he left, still scarred 14 years later.

  • I can't remember the date, but the accident happened when we were on tour between Copenhagen and Stockholm. Sept 25-26 I think, perhaps sept 26-27 is the date. We played Stockholm, I said goodbye, see you tomorrow, and when I I arrived in Copenhagen the next evening, hell had broken lose. The Danish police was nice and gave me a phone connection with the hospital in Sweeden, but the hospital said "they're all ok, they went back to their hotel". Most beautiful night of my life. All OK. But no.

  • when and how did burton die?

  • he died wen they were on tour in europe and there tour bus hit black ice and he was crushed under the bus and i forget wen he died though

  • He died on 27th September 1986

  • just listen to that bass

    RIP CLiff Burton

  • james looks so young.

  • woaw thats amazing

    R.I.P. Cliff

    why?

  • Wow! I don't understand how I could not have known this... I've listened to Metallica since early 80's .. Boy! have I been asleep!!! :( .. Well, thank you to both of you, for sharing the info .. RIP Cliff ..

  • Well, you're post 50... when I see these videos, I wish I was, and I wish I had seen these performances. Golden age of metal...

  • Sorry for being ignorant, but my Metallica knowledge is not up to date... When did Cliff die and how??

  • Bus accident in 1986

  • the driver hit a patch of ice and the bus rolled over and he was thrown out the window and crushed by the bus.

  • no ice check interview about it. no ice

  • i could almost break down into tears because of the talent that died on that fateful night

  • Awesome video R.I.P Cliff
