my son has trisomy 9 mosaic a form of autism, you however have a great character & i hope you have a great life as your spirit is lifting others to be happy, keep it up you have a great life ahead of you...
Dirac and Newton probably had this aspi condition read Simon Baron report, so don't worry you must have parent who afford you to improve yourself in professional life and you will become a genius!!!
What if you saw your Aspergers as a gift/ talent instead of a disorder. I do. I love your energy, Adam. :P Maybe you can just tell people what you need, instead of labeling it at Asperbers. Just a thought! :))
I am sorry but why have this child say he has a disorder? what a way to start his life..... I glad they never know about AS when I was a child.. I never felt nor feel now its a disorder.
Adam...you would really like my little boy.He is newly diagnosed. He is so super lonely and super smart. He is in the gifted program. This stuff is real and unless you are a parent of or an actual child that has AS you could never understand.Stay sweet little man.You are doing a great job managing
@wilsorama I think you should spend a day in someones shoes before coming to that conclusion... I am not saying you are wrong... I am just saying that you dont know
I too have AS. Today medical science understands autism, including the Asperger's type much better than they did in my youth. I am like near the generation of Temple Grandin. I am seeker of a better job. I also am a folk musician/singer/songwriter; wrote 4 songs in autism awareness theme. Hope to get posted soon on YouTube. I wrote much in concern over healthcare crisis.
Adam, you're awesome! My son is 7 and he is SO MUCH LIKE YOU, and I LOVE IT! I wish I had more parents and kids to talk to about this. As his Mom, it's frustrating because Asperger's is pretty darn cool, but they don't seem to think so at my son's school. What do you think about that?
djnomark commented "he seems like a normal young boy to me. we all have to do stuff we dont like..."
Yes we all have to do that but normally a 9 yr old would not repond with a meltdown. Children with Aspergers normally are creative & highly intelligent, usually have good speech & eye contact but have no comprehension of socialy behaviour, personal space, and attach literal meaning to what people say. If your a specialist in Aspergers I would not take my Asperger child to you Sorry.
he seems like a normal young boy to me. we all have to do stuff we dont like (and i specialize in aspergers) but i dont think aspergers plays a part in that
@djnomark ia m 25 years old with aspergers and i know for a fact if my routine gets messed up i have a fit and i get upset and it could be over the smallest thing that changed or gets in the way of my routine
You are awesome! Hey, my dad helped me learn to swim by having me pretend I was an animal, like an otter or a dolphin. :) You just need to find your niche in the water! No worries!
ihave aspergers and i am 24 years old and i do talk but i do have a stutter cause of another issues to deal with voical cord damge at birth other wise i am smart
awww your sooo lush!! I have a son named Adam who also has aspergers! But he is only 6. thank you for all you videos I cant wait to show them to my Adam!
Adam is so similar to our 6-year old son with Asperger's. Our son is not at the point where he's understanding what Asperger's is yet, though. Thanks for sharing.
i envy you, adam. your parents were able to help you as a child and finding out about AS. Unfortunately, my parents didn't know about AS until i was in high school 8 years ago, but i'm glad they found out before i became an adult. you have a great sense of humor. check out my videos about AS.
I'm glad I wasn't diagnosed early, it would have created more stress than what was already present. I find it sad that society has to find a "label" for something out of the norm.
This is the upside to Aspergers, my stepson has Aspergers....and it's not so comical most of the time. you live for the moments when it is, but change in the schedules can throw him into a tantem.....and they can go on for hours. Great to see this Adam.
I hate converstaion that doesnt deal with computers, and tend to switch off and throw my hands in the air, I have a list here I hate Jokes, dont understand basic humor, take things to literal and dont know when to believe someone, lose concentration, depression kills me, dont enjoy meeting others, use long words in wrong places, and i can talk forver or i can be quiet, hate picky wooly shirts, like smoke patterns, dont like my own routine broken and list goes on and on.
also i thought i had social anxiety but i found out that even when relaxed...i just can't do the open social thing. I don't know how to pull a convo out of my butt. There has to be an interest of mine for me to do that unless i am totally comfortable with someone. When im with a stranger i'm just like "duh" unless it's something i am interested in.
But her brother would always end up coming up to me and talking to me when usually he isolated himself in his room with his computer. For some reason he would talk to me and not her other friends. He would isolate himself a lot like i would and just a lot of things he would do reminded me of me.
I'm 30 now....and i am just now really thinking I have it. The first time i ever thought about it was years ago when my old best friend 's brother got diagnosed with it. Well I was diagnosed as bipolar, and he of course has issues like me and I though hmmm, just maybe I have that. But then I put the idea down for awhile. But since then I've been reading more and more about it and now i'm almost positive. He was originally thought to have add.
I'm almost sure i have aspergers but the funny thing is.....I wasn't exactly like some of these kids describe how they were or how they are i mean. I had all the social problems but I kept my meltdowns at home. I cried at school sometimes but oh and i would also tell on people for "sticking their tongue out at me " when i was in elementary school. lol But the adults i really relate to, and everything i read on it, at least 95% is me.
Informative to see how a child describes Asperger's as I have it. It is a hidden disability but also an Ability! I have trouble keeping friends and developing relationships with others! I also find different social situations confusing. Perhaps the simplest way of understanding asperger's is to think of it as describing someone to thinks and percieves about the world differently to others. Aspies are unique! We need structure, routine, regularity & reasurance in order to to feel overwhelmed!
It feels so good to talk about aspergers after you realize you have it. Sometimes it even becomes a special interest. The more you know about it, they better you will become at living with it.The ultimate treatment you can give yourself is acceptance.
You're a totally cool kid. I'm pretty sure I have Asperger's but they didn't know what that was when I was your age. Way to go Adam! My son is 6 and has Aspergers, he doesn't really understand what Aspergers is yet but he loves being different. You remind me of him. :)
I grew up with Asperger's and let me tell you! It was hard! My parents never even told me about. I think its best to hear from a child with this syndrome. I remember being afraid to make friends at school. I used to think that they would snap at me if I tried to talk to them.
Adam you are awesome at explaining! Iam a mother of a nine yr old with aspergers and its hard explaining to people what its like, you acted out exactly how I try to describe it. Thanks!
its only a disability by law, mussolini justified invading the colonies of abysinnia by saying that the african people were not proper human beings, it doesnt make him right
hey adam, youre a really smart kid! my daughter is 5 1/2 and has aspergers.but she doesnt make much sense when she talks so its hard to understand what shes talking about.i guess the best way to explain that is she says the same sentance like 5 times but each time just in a different way.but my question for you is: how do i get her to understand what aspergers is and that she has it? she doesnt know she has it and shes starting kindergarten this month so i feel its important for her to know. thx
Well, I'm not sure if this will help much, but how I learned was my mom talked to me about it. It was a comfortable talk, and it made me realize why I was so different than all the other kids at school.
ok now heres a question does he realy have it or is he just a smart kid with a good learning curve who did some research??? hes put up tons if videos may not be popular but hes got drive and dedication. alot if his videos seem to be planed out ahead so my question is is this for real or just the video?
@avilanch2000 I have it and this is typical flow of consciousness, we utilize both sides of our brains at the same time, which means we cannot think in a linear way, ALL that information is available to us at once. don't need a script, just give us a "Topic" and we will expand on it in an intuitively logical way, so it just sounds scripted. This kid is one step higher on the evolutionary ladder, we are the X-men. We could solve the worlds problems, if you'd let us. Just sayin...

my little brother just found out he has aspergers too. You are an amazing boy. A lot of the stuff you said remind me of him. So thanks for explaing it so well :)
Hi..I'm doing a report on Asperger's for one of my classes and you did such a GREAT job explaining it and how it affects you. I hope it's ok to use this video in my powerpoint presentation. Thanks!!
Hi Adam, My 3 year old may have Aspergers as well but is diagnosed for now with PDD-NOS. What were you like when you were 3 years old? My daughter is very smart like you and talks extremely well just as yourself.
Well, my Mom noticed the symptoms when i was about 3, but I wasn't diagnosed until I was 4 due to a long waiting list and we were moving to another part of town at the time.
especially when i was in high school (that makes me sound old but i'm just a college freshman)and i got picked up on a FRIDAY the start of the WEEKEND and all i wanted to do was go home and sleep i'd have to go with my sister to God knows where..
You're a fucking genius kid

I grew up with Asperger's and let me tell you! It was hard! My parents never even told me about. I think its best to hear from a child with this syndrome. I remember being afraid to make friends at school. I used to think that they would snap at me if I tried to talk to them.

Adam you are awesome at explaining! Iam a mother of a nine yr old with aspergers and its hard explaining to people what its like, you acted out exactly how I try to describe it. Thanks!

Thanks Adam! You really helped me to understand. :)

aspergers isn't a physical disability, it's MENTal and can sometimes be subtle. Don't encourage him to ignore his parents
DanMia19961 2 years ago
its not a disorder, its a difference, not that his doesnt have its disadvantages
dalektaliban 2 years ago
It is a disorder actually.

it is a disability i have it and read a book on it!
DanMia19961 2 years ago
its only a disability by law, mussolini justified invading the colonies of abysinnia by saying that the african people were not proper human beings, it doesnt make him right
dalektaliban 2 years ago
Uh...what?Could you repeat that, like in some other way?

hey adam, youre a really smart kid! my daughter is 5 1/2 and has aspergers.but she doesnt make much sense when she talks so its hard to understand what shes talking about.i guess the best way to explain that is she says the same sentance like 5 times but each time just in a different way.but my question for you is: how do i get her to understand what aspergers is and that she has it? she doesnt know she has it and shes starting kindergarten this month so i feel its important for her to know. thx
instagasm 2 years ago
Well, I'm not sure if this will help much, but how I learned was my mom talked to me about it. It was a comfortable talk, and it made me realize why I was so different than all the other kids at school.

ok now heres a question does he realy have it or is he just a smart kid with a good learning curve who did some research??? hes put up tons if videos may not be popular but hes got drive and dedication. alot if his videos seem to be planed out ahead so my question is is this for real or just the video?
avilanch2000 2 years ago
Oh, this is real, I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. But thank you for all of the complements :)
Zagurzem 2 years ago
try having aspergers for a day. It isn't bad but you'll see a difference between your so called "normal" life.
DanMia19961 2 years ago
@avilanch2000 I have it and this is typical flow of consciousness, we utilize both sides of our brains at the same time, which means we cannot think in a linear way, ALL that information is available to us at once. don't need a script, just give us a "Topic" and we will expand on it in an intuitively logical way, so it just sounds scripted. This kid is one step higher on the evolutionary ladder, we are the X-men. We could solve the worlds problems, if you'd let us. Just sayin...

My daughter is very smart like you and talks extremely well just as yourself.
threeredheads 2 years ago
Well, my Mom noticed the symptoms when i was about 3, but I wasn't diagnosed until I was 4 due to a long waiting list and we were moving to another part of town at the time.

especially when i was in high school (that makes me sound old but i'm just a college freshman)and i got picked up on a FRIDAY the start of the WEEKEND and all i wanted to do was go home and sleep i'd have to go with my sister to God knows where..

I don't know why people are giving you the thumbs down. I'm not.

I agree...
He's seems pretty good with convos and really outgoing.
Interrupting people to talk about what you're interested in (new game/spongebob) is more impatient/rude than it is aspergers.
Going to the post office isn't a fun activity either. Most kids will be annoyed but try to be well behaved.
It takes practice to learn how to swim and nobody likes to be "surprised" by a conrete wall.
