it only looks cramped because hes hitting cross court with topspin probably.... if its cramped then why did he hit the exact centre of the racquet... its a perfect shot
hey i've got a question on leyton hewitt's backhand. i watched closely and notice that he does not draw a circle to prepare for his backhand stroke instead he arc inwards lift the raquet high to gives a powerful blow, am i correct?

I found it funny how he against Djokovic did a one-handed backhand on the run which caught Novak off guard, forcing him to miss his volley. And no, it was not a slice.

thats how my coach has me hitting my backhand, my arms are too stiff and he doesnt want me to start from square 1 with my backhand so he just had me relax my wrists. If you notice he drops his wrists, but his left arm is stiff
hewitt is the bomb

Is his right hand continental? i cant really tell, looks slightly further round
Upinsmoke1987 2 years ago
he keeps his eye on the ball even after he hit it. he don't even look at where he will hit the ball too.
I can't do that.

hewitt's said that he uses a more straight-armed backhand because it's better at absorbing power

nico74321 hewitt does have a loop but his arms are very stiff and it seems as if hes not at times but he is

I think he was just aiming crosscourt thats why it looks so cramped
aeroprovinnie 3 years ago 2
I think his backhand always looks cramped and stiff... it's still an effective shot but it is not pretty.
RenegadeFightah 3 years ago
It's not cramped, it's technically sound and solid.
mysteriekiller 3 years ago 3
i think his backhand is probably the best and coolest looking backhand in tennis right now

That ball got really close to his body (not a good example of his stroke).

i think you're right
bigpo1234 4 years ago
the best example is the one that is hit in a real match, like this
lobextomy 3 years ago
your not getting the point

its59degrees0utside 3 years ago
@txchou That's right, I think it's because of his straight arm(s) during the motion
captainniki 1 year ago
@aunit64 the further away from the body the stroke is, the less power you'll have. Thats why he's so good on counter-attacks
