  • I play an Em pentatonic extended which i belive is the same pattern you show here,,peace from canada.

  • becuase you are tuned down how would the pattern change if i was playing in standard tuning?

  • is he picking?

  • how long are you playing? that sounds awesome!

    great lesson as well

  • man this reveals the last mystery that I've been wondering for many years.

you might find it hard to believe but I started learning blues licks myself. and pretty much I've been using the EXACT 5 blues boxes that you taught in the other lesson even though I discovered them naturally(might be because I'm using a lot of bending and I'm also a fan of hendrix). I've tried using the normal blues box to fill in the bottom strings, but they're way too inconvenient.

This is It!! Thank you so much!

  • awesome dude

what gauge strings do you use?

i know stevie uses high gauge like 11's 12's and 13's but what do you reccomend?

i want that sort of heavy string sound and 9's sound a bit thin...

  • Very useful.

  • Dude, raise your action. The strings are buzzing like crazy.

  • I freakin' love your unconventional methods of looking at scales!

  • Nice sound dude!!! I have the Hot Rod Deluxe amp and a Fender Strato American Deluxe and I can't get your sound. Are u using some pedal???

How can I get you sound???

  • @marknopfler Cause he has a Blues Junior. Lower wattage, therefore he can crank it. I have the hot rod deluxe too. Can't really crank it, wayy too loud.

  • Dude! Isn´t the first "turnaround" the major Pentatonic?

    Anyways; Great lessons!

  • @LodvarDude i noticed that i think it is yea

  • Of course! How could I miss something so obvious ? Very nice explanation. Yet again nicely mixing major and minor scales all in one pattern.

  • great videos. you really know how to break it down.

  • thanks for sharing. for the record, a must learn for all guitarist no matter what style they're strong in. the instruction on this video is methodical and very precise on it's points. also, it's very well thought out. so thanks again. it's easy for the beginner as well as the expert to understand. instructions put out make it easy to understand on all videos.

  • I have that amp :)

  • A nice example of the backdoor pattern is in Oasis Don't Look Back in Anger solo. Runs up the entire pattern in the solo :-)

  • The doors are flying open for me thanks

  • So if you start somewhere other than the first and third fret for Box 1, will the patterns stay the same?

  • I use 4 places to start the pattern, the last two reverse the 2/3 pattern. All the patterns are oulined in the full lesson which you can download for free on this series' download page at StevieSnacks.

  • @gr8bluesgtr

I just bought the Blues Box package and it's great.

Do you think you will ever do a Jazz Guitar Lesson?

  • @ryanjames2007 I'd have to learn some first :-)

  • @gr8bluesgtr

What fret do you start the 1st box on?

  • @A145084

That would depend on the root of your song.

  • @TwilightsLastGleam
