@orchardcottage lt certainly tends to be a little, how shall l say, different! Spooky thing is Orchard Cottage was where my parents lived for years.Strange coincidence indeed.
Brilliant vacuum cleaners! They look almost brand new! That reminds me, I haven't used my Dustette for a long time. I'll have to get it out sometime soon.
My Uncle Cecil still has the first one complete with original pipe and wire (covered in insulation tape). Sadly it is missing the runners on the bottom. My Uncle has turned those into a towel rack in the kitchen! The cleaner still works, but he only uses it to clean the car as it has lost it's suck a bit and it does not travel to good on the carpet because of the missing runners. Must be about 50 years old now!
*mean wile in the nurseing home for vacuums* *some eldery vacuum get me my new bag * lol

The Hoover 119 was launched in 1950, it was replaced by the Hoover 1224 in 1955.

What you say at 2:10 about Gordon Brown - as I type this today, 11/5/2010 - I can certainly say he has "gone up the pipe"! :) :D

The old pipes go in time, try some pond hose instead,it's easy to fit the right size into the metal ends. That'll improve the suction!
AG3304 2 years ago
I will tell him to give that a go!
adamellender 2 years ago
Well it certainly worked for me,and it'll never go rotten like the old canvas glued to a spring hose did.
