  • I just know when I go to Japan in June I'm going to be singing this

  • my Japanese teacher showed us this song we were all dancing up and down like crazy

  • Genki Japan's videos are a great way to learn little things. The lyrics stay in your head for a LONG time. I have short term memory loss and it still stays there, lol

  • The "Ichi man yen" is so adorable!

  • Hahah... this song stuck in my head for a year... :D Its so addictive!

  • THE SONG IS SO DAMN NICE!!! HAHAHa

  • I can't stop listening to it xD

  • I am going to Japan in 7 months and these are helping me so much xD

I was afraid I was not going to find anything D8

  • I like how Genki makes alot of songs, they get stuck in your head so you remeber.

  • AWW THIS IS SOO CUTE!!

  • This song is ALWAYS getting stuck in my head. ALWAYS. D:

  • My Japanese teacher showed this video to us in class when we had this chapter about buying stuff. For us the video is a little wierd HOWEVER it's a great way of learning, the song really gets stuck in your head ^.^

  • this is like, the only song you have that ever gets stuck in my head xD so I will forever know how to ask how much something is.

  • now i have this stuck in my head well thanks a lot... but is so cute!

  • 日本語を勉強しましょ!

  • how do u say a million?

  • @PandaLord74 百万(ひゃくまん)

  • @PandaLord74

"Hyaku man" 百万 (ひゃくまん in Hiragana) They don't have a word for million, as such, so it is literally, a hundred 10 thousands.

  • GAAAH it is stuck in my head, but hilarious

  • I was singing this before I fell asleep last night xD

  • GET IT OUT OF MY BRAIN O_e"

  • いくら いくら いくらですか!! かわいい!!! This song is soooo cute!!! I haven't learned this in Japanese yet and now i have it forever stuck in my head that's great!!!

  • いくらですか?(How much is it?)

    イクラですか?(Is it a salmon roe?)

    に聞こえる^^

    頑張って勉強してください!

  • ikura? ikura? ikura desu ka?...

    yay!! so fun!

  • That voice ish so cute...

  • doesn't 円 also mean circle?

  • LMAO its so fun singing along

  • O negai shimasu means "Please" isn't it ?

Does it means also "I'll take it "?

  • many words in the japanese language mean many different things. it's a very simple, yet hard language to learn because something like Onegaishimasu can mean anything from "please" to "give me" to "i'll take it!"

  • you can use that to say "I'll take it" or

    こ / それをください (I'll take this / that)

  • yes it is, and yes in this case it does^-^

  • yes. it can be interpreted as that.

like "i will take this please" not literal translation, but it will be understood as that depending on the situation!

  • i've heard it being used as "please can i have"

so i think they may be similar

    x

  • omg when i got shopping in Japan i know ill end up breaking out in song and look like a muppet.. haha

  • LMAO XDD SAME HERE!

    I will be like

"Iku ra iku ra, IKURA DESU KA?!!

O NE GA I SHI MA SU!!!!!!!!!"

    LMAO

  • @DominoRooster: LOL join the club.

this is good for learning Japanese! :O

  • @DominoRooster I know! me too xD I first watched this about a year ago..and still remembered it all--I love this technique for learning :3

  • *presses replay* *starts singing along*

oh my.. i don't think i'll ever be able to get this song out of my head.

it's great for learning japanese though. arigato gozaimasu :D

  • wow. it s true i ant get this song of my head.

thats good if you want to learn apajnese XD

  • jyu hyaku sen ichi man en! ~♪

  • why are there 2 signs for yen??? confusssed!!!

  • i was, as well, until a friend of mine explained.

we, in english, have two ways of writing "dollar". the word dollar, and the sign $.

The Y with the two lines is like our "$" for dollar.

the other one is the word "yen" like our word "dollar". just written in japanese.

  • the 円 is the character (word) for the money.

and the ¥ is the symbol for the money. same as the $ here.

  • I'm also confused, why are there 2 signs for yen?

  • We use 円(Japanese) and also Yen.

  • The first one is a Japanese symbol for yen and the second one is American. And it's pronounced "yen" in English. However the real Japanese pronounciation is "en".

  • @LuwBren Yup. It's cause there is no "Ye" sound In Japanese. In the Y category, there's only "Ya" "Yu" and "Yo" sounds.

  • in america 100 yen is about $1

  • i ku ra i ku ra i ku ra de su ka

  • onegaishimasu!

    that sounded to cute

  • ikura ikura i ku ra de su ka, jyu hyaku sen ichi man en o ne ga i shi ma su!

  • Useful video, now I'm ready to go shopping in Japan!

  • ha ha funny XD

  • when I go to Japan I'll end up singing this to the shop keepers now.

    thanks a lot.

  • IKURA!

    me:1,000,0000,0000 en!

    customer: *shakes head

  • how much does the money here worth in japan?

  • google your currency to yen

  • if you are in australia $1 buys about 70 yen

  • x e ( d o t ) c o m

  • I think 1 dollar gets you 100 yen, but i think it might have changed...

  • isnt desu just "it is" or "they are" like it wud be the "is" in "my name is" or "watashi no namae wa_____desu"

  • Zelarian, desu means 'to be'. (Basically.) It's just needed in the sentence.

  • basically the same as etre in French.

  • 僕の名前は_です。

Boku no namae wa "_" desu

    My name is "_" .

  • Putting things to music and repeating is an excellent memory aid.

When I learnt left (hidari) & right (migi) I marched down the street saying each one in my head following my footsteps. I even memorised how to ask for an international remittance form in a post office to send money to a bank in England this way. Nothing else sticks in my memory!

I do have to say arigato gozaimasu to genkijapan, though. Ikura desuka. Onegaishimasu!
