  • He sounds like a ship full of dying whales. Fing awesome whales.

  • fascinating stuff!

  • sounds like a fucking didgeridoo

  • Yes, confirmed as a bass, BUT what MODEL??????????

  • This is illegal

  • He needs to collaborate with Sunn O))).

  • this, if fucking cool.

  • you are fuckkin KIDDIN' ME!!! AMAZIN'!!!

  • this sound it's like a magma that it's cover and burn me ... awsome.

  • this is what jazz needs, innovation

jazz has been stuck in the 60s for way to long

  • @gpfess zorn

  • @gpfess i hate to say it, but there is a lot of stuff like this out there - it's just not mainstream.

  • very beautifull and interesting, amazing , etc all the best.

  • quite obviously a novelty-sized sax.

  • @electrichealinghand No bass sax was very common around the turn of the last century in brass and army bands. They just became kind of extinct.

  • he needs to make dubstep....

  • That looks like bloody hard work.

  • So. Powerful. It makes me feel a little uneasy.

  • This guy is incredible. He puts all his soul into what he does and its astonishing. As a saxophone player, i admire him !

    p.s. It's a bass sax. I got a baritone right beside me, and it's alot smaller !

  • Superb.

  • who the hell dislikes this?!?!?!?

  • Wow this guy perfected circular breathing. Amazing.

  • Sounds like Mozart moving rusty furniture. Great.

  • I'd definetely have sax with him!

  • saluti e buona musica

  • i pity his poor neigbours

  • one word... massive!!

  • Sounds like a Marshall stack.

  • So is he singing (yelling, screaming) through the sax as he plays? However he's getting those overtones, it's amazing! Bravo!

  • @drewmcdrex He is yelling through the sax as he plays. It's a pretty tough technique used by lots of 20th century classical players and even some jazz players like Eddie Harris.

  • that guy needs to collaborate with bohren und der club of gore.

  • What the? Is this even possible, sick tune, haven't hear anything like it, and haven't herd something I've liked so much in months!

  • cool it with the camera work... on all your videos

  • Sublime

  • what being trapped inside the belly of a whale sounds like.

  • LOL: the latest CD by Laurie Anderson, who contributes vocals to "NHW2" and with whom Colin has collaborated on other projects, is visible on top of the piano.

  • I can't help but breathe with this guy.

  • That 1 person who disliked this video must be blind, and death, and a hater.. I bet Colin took his girl friend in the second grade

  • @JUN34U Baritone saxes cannot reach that range. You gotta calm yourself, son.

  • KILLING

  • joder k pasote kompare !

  • GREAT!

  • IIIIIIIIIIINNNTTTEEENNNSSSEE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wouldn't download it off of iTunes, though, but, he is surely one of the best sax men on the planet, and.....well....I am at a loss for words.....you think of a sax as a solo instrument.....but leave it to this dude to completely change all of the assumed presumptions....very different.......

  • 1 person disliked because they only play Baritone Sax.

  • How can someone think this is a Bari sax?

  • did you do the sound affects for Inception?

  • Circular breathin' like a boss!

  • At first, this sounded like the giant things from War of the Worlds...

  • @PentucketXC05 Probably how they made the actual sound in the film

  • His neighbors must be pissed to live next to him. I, however, would be greatly honored.

  • I saw this guy mentioned on pitchfork and they said that it was all done 1 take, no overdubs, and when i heard the recording, i thought they were lying cause it sounded so impossible, barely like a saxophone. searched for video, found this, and my mind is officially blown. pun only kind of intended.

  • @ricecultivationsocie haha nice.

  • A regular sax must feel tiny after he plays this. Like when you play a bass guitar and then play an electric guitar right after.

  • I wish I could circular breathe

  • this produced chills

down the length of my spine.

  • I cn understand the complexity of what he is playing. I don't like it though. :( Wonderfully talented though. x

  • so apparently when it comes to sax, size do matter... (lame I know, couldn't resist)

  • he's got a sweet crib if that's his

  • 5:42

  • Amazing. Beautiful.

PS. See Tom Robbin's "Jitterbug Perfume". Kudra and Alobar would be proud of those breathing techniques.

  • So intense

  • Comment removed

  • zero dislikes. i like THAT.

  • puede ser que en un momento toca frases de Philip Glass?

  • man, i bet this guy could spit a mile.

  • At the beginning I'm pretty much expecting a freight train to come smashing through his living room.

  • This guys an alien..

  • holy freaking balls, this shit was intense!

  • i looooooooove this album

  • What?

  • so many different tones in one note ahhh!!

  • 2:50 This is so good. Very talented !!

  • @metalninja626 it's definitely a bass

  • @Zoyfad we confirm, it's a bass sax. Look at the shape of the pipe where Colin blows, and the top of the instrument.

  • @JUN34U No, the Barytone sax is smaller. Please check on wiki, typing bass saxophone, and you'll see it's the same instrument !

  • @LaBlogotheque Having worked with Colin at The Stone, he himself referred to it as a bari. Whether or not he's mistaken, is another issue. In the liner notes of albums he's worked on, it's credited as a bari.

  • @JUN34U Yea, and Colin has said he plays the bass sax.

  • @JUN34U Nice try... but the bari sax has a much smaller bell and looks nothing like a bass clarinet. the mouth piece on a bari comes up to the top of the neck height wise while, as you can see here: the top of the sax is about a foot above the mouth piece... it's a bass. And it's fun as hell to play.

  • @shinvokyu yeah, now that i've seen it a few times I was wrong.

  • Is this a Bass Saxophone?

  • @DoctorMonkfish baritone sax.

  • I have never heard anything like this

  • circular breathing and yelling into his saxophone?!?!?!?!? i am amazed and sharing this with everyone i know!

  • would love to hear him and seb rochford collaborate.

  • he's got a bit of an "on the run" groove flowing in this one. awesome.

  • With Tom Waits shoveling in the coal.

  • Steampunk train I mean. (going far with it)

  • The way he's tapping those valves and him breathing makes him sound like a badass steam train.

  • The amount of skill this takes is ridiculous

  • This guy blows... In a good way.

  • It makes me wanna take a DEEEEEP breath. A whole full lungful.

  • That's like fuckin drrrrooooone music :)

I think it would be cool, if he played with the Sunn O))) musicians :D

  • damn that's so intense!

  • So the neighbor isn't using a foghorn after all... huh.

  • That is freakin amazing. He's playing two different tones at the same time, circular breathing, and being a Bad A while doing it.

  • the beginning sounds like a big fart!

  • the neighbours must hate him. so good though.

  • the bit he plays at the 0:28 is the same exact sound at the beginning or arcade fire's miroir noir DVD

  • such an amazing musician!

  • check out that circular breathing.

well done, colin- it was great meeting you two years ago when you played with bell orchestre in toronto!

  • the real Daddy Fat Sax ;D

  • thats a sax yo.

  • @blueprintsmusic bass sax (:

  • seems like a pretty cool tuba playing dude

  • @Creamy360 that's not a tuba lol
