  • Can you imagine this defense playing with today's Saints offense? That would be 19 easy wins per year, not enough space in the trophy case for all the Lombardis.

  • literally get chills while watchin' these catz, what a defense

  • Too bad we didn't have an OFFENSE to go with it back then. Boy I remember those days. Seems like an eternity ago now

  • whats name of the last song???

  • They have forever ruined me, That is the standard for which I judge all Linebacker corps.

  • They could've been the best if they had some help (a good D-lineman or two).

  • This defense + Drew Brees would have won multiple super bowls. This is not an exaggeration

  • great work on this vid, you made the saints look awesome, very hard to do

  • @ChrisDeMarinis1 Sam Mills should be in the Hall of Fame too.

  • i heard a guy say if we had an offence we couldve won some superbowls. NOW we have offence and we need more defence. Ironic huh

  • @XxLuckyShotz95 Strangely enough, I think our defense maybe better than our offense for the first time since Payton came here

  • man i swear the saints need another corps like that again they would really be unstoppable

  • Lmao 00:52 .... Get the hell in the endzone mothafucka!

  • Awesome defense all around, but I'd take our current secondary over the guys we had then. Gene Atkins was the only bright spot.

  • Whats the name of the song tahts starts at 5:00

  • The only linebacking corp I'd say is just as good or better is the steelers 90s linebackers no offense jackson glad to see your in the hof! but kevin greene was an animal in the trenches lloyd brown kirkland very close match to swilling mills and johnson hard to say who's better close to call both teams had great backers congrats to coach kevin greene on finally winning the super bowl and his young linebacking corp some day we may compare to the great linebackers of the dome patroll

  • @sarkkinen23 Kevin Greene was a good pass rusher, not an all around good linebacker.

  • 3:24 "where you think you goin bruh?" LMFAO

  • omg this d with our current offense would be a 19-0 season

  • ya right, the steelers always say there LB'S were better. show me a clip of them creating a -22 yard loss and i might consider saying that there were half as good as ours

  • i could just imagine eye of the tiger playing during the vid.

  • OLB Rickey Jackson-6 Pro Bowls HOF

OLB Pat Swilling- 5 Pro Bowls, 1991 DPOY

MLB Sam Mills- 5 Pro Bowls

MLB Vaughn Johnson- 2 Pro Bowls

  • Roger Craig "Man who ever hit me, it hurt", He was referring to Vaughn Johnson

  • when was this

  • @jj8771 All 4 LBs from the Saints in 1991 were all voted in the pro bowl

  • Four Pro Bowl linebackers on one team. Awesome.

  • These days are over my friend. You have to ask permission now to hit someone. NFL- the national footsie league as of this week.

  • I met Rickey in person and got his autograph actually, he's a really nice person and extremely humble. go saints

  • @waooohhhh Yeah, I had the same experience right after he won the ring with the 49ers in a restaurant in New Orleans. He showed me his ring and I joked, "I can't believe you sold out man" and he said, "You gotta do what you gotta do bra."

  • Mills,Jackson,Johnson, Swilling - the DOME PATROL MOTHA FUCKA! badest line backer Corp to EVER play the game. Who Dat?

  • those saints teams of late 80s and early 90s only had defense. Zero offense so teams would just wear the defense down. the played a 3-4 defense.

  • i got a question, when this linebacking corps. was still in tact, did they play a 3-4 or 4-3 defense?

  • @ChrisDeMarinis1 Rickey finally go in Man. That must make you feel good. I remember those saints teams in the late 80's and early 90's and although they weren't the best team, that defense made that team tuff to play against in any game.

  • #57 RICKEY HENDERSON! HALL OF FAMER NOW!

  • @golfcartpro its rickey jackson.

  • @golfcartpro it's Jackson man

  • @ChrisDeMarinis1

    He's in the hall now.

  • the dome patrol will always be the best linebackers ever rip frank warren

  • saintes suck

  • @100appleuser Talk when you can spell Saints, dumbass.

  • look how young Moses was lol

  • One of the best defense's to play the game !

    Who - Dat !

  • Man, there was no better 'D' in the NFL back then. None. The Eagles like to think they were, but they weren't. If Carl Smith's offense wasn't so conservative and would have opened it up a little bit, those late 80's teams could have been special. They had decent talent on offense too, but they knew that defense and the kicking game with Morten Andersen was so good that they literally only tried to score 10-13 pts and they'd win. Hence the ultra conservative game plan.

  • dame vaughn johnson would stick you

  • Vaughn Johnson layin' lumber Who Dat!

  • about to watch him go into the hall of fame..WHO DAT?? dome patrol baby ricky waz a beast!!!

  • Masters of Destuction

  • The best corp of linebackers EVER!

  • I grew up a Giant fan (LT, Banks, Carson, etc) but these guys were the best LB corp in NFL history! Jackson to the HOF, ABOUT TIME!

  • now that the Saints have won the superbowl, Rickey Jackson has made the hall and Sam Mills will follow shortly

  • If Mora's defense could play with Payton's offense, the Saints would go undefeated for a decade.

  • @Cinderdan i always say that 2..bra the saints would be fuckin beast..WHO DAT??

  • rickey jackson is finally in the hall of fame!

  • I watched this last week very cool

  • what is name of 3rd song please?

  • one of the best 3-4 defenses of all time thanks to the Dome Patrol

  • @ChrisDeMarinis1 Rickey got in. Stop posting crap.

  • @ChrisDeMarinis1

Well congrats to Rickey for making it...well deserved. Very underrated group

  • These guys were AWESOME

  • They played great together!

  • one of the greatest defenses of all time

  • jfliguy-you know nothing about football. look up swilling's stats, when he went to Detriot. they dropped completely. Meanwhile R. Jackson went to another pro bowl, and was a perennial pro bowler before Mills, Swilling, or Johnson arrived to the saints. Oh yeah, the guy who took Swilling's spot w/ the saints went to the pro bowl playing along side of R. Jackson, b/c R. Jackson continued to get double teams playing on the strong side, as opposed Swillling receiving one on one match ups.

  • @jehritt80 you right ronaldo turnbull...the dome patrol kept rolling a few years after swilling left..

  • Sam Mills or PAt Swilling should have gotten in before Ricky Jackson.

  • City Champ by brother one of the grestest......Brenda

  • 00:37- Huge hit...what is up with us doing that to Vikings lol. we must really have a strong hate lol

  • actually we have a strong rivalry with them >;)

  • this was the best saints defense ever, i watched them every sunday. they were deadly. who dat say we superbowl champs!

  • Rickey=HOF

  • Hell yes!!

  • Rickey Jackson, Congrats on your selection to the Pro Football Hall of Fame

  • YES!!!! THE DOME PATROL!!!!!!!! Imagine if we had THIS defense with today's offense! WHOOOOOO DAT!

  • was dat marcus allen?????man they fuckin man handled him

  • Absolutely. I remember this game. This was one of the most feared defenses of all time, dude. Problem was the Saints had almost no national TV exposure back then.

  • Simply the best linebacking corps in the history of the NFL.

  • Love the juke moves Rickey did on that last int. Looks like Reggie!

  • Who Dat Nation-- those with tickets-- get ready to make some SERIOUS NOISE Sunday, we can keep Favre to hand signals (no audibles) and leave him bruised and confused.

The crowd will be the 12th player in the Dome Sunday, let's get LOUD!!

  • Only got my voice back today!! WHO DAT

  • 2:00 is still my favorite :D

  • Saints D was Patroling the Dome against Warner in the Cards last night. I was a proud Saints fan knowing we had a D and a O that showed up to the Post Season

  • Jesus, they we're so damn physical. I miss those ball hawking, hard hitting days!

  • i seen many a hole punched in the living room wall of my childhood home during this era in saints football.......thanks for the memories dad......lol

  • your pop wasn't the only one punching holes in the walls. My kids must have thought I was crazy.

  • We could have won a SuperBowl if it weren't for OC Carl Smith, remember him? Mr Super-conservative. Now we have both an OC and DC who obviously are Type A persons consuming mass amounts of amphetamines.LOL BFF

  • Yes I remember him, and I too HATED how conservative they played. The only team you'd see punting the ball on 4th down with less than an inch to go. Only difference is, I put the blame on Jim Mora, but we're still on the same page there. Can you imagine if we had today's coaching staff back on that team, with Rickey Jackson, Pat Swilling, Bobby Hebert, etc.

  • 2009 is the year of our revenge. The year that if you do not give us respect, then we are just going to take it.

To all you haters, we are going all the way to Miami this year.

Mark your calendars, the 2010 Superbowl is the beginning of a new dynasty.

    A Black N Gold dynasty!!!

    WHO DAT??? WE DAT!!!

  • haha you might win the super bowl this year but you aint startin no dynasty buddy thats just wishful thinking

defense is gettin old and when your best def player is a safety and he's inching towards 36-37 yrs of age ... its not a good sign

Brees hasnt had that season ending injury yet so look for that soon (not being hateful but usually every QB gets dinged up at least once in his career)

offense is pretty good but defense has SAVED them this year, lets see if it holds up

  • Dude our offense avgs 460 yds/gm. I'd say that's a little bit better than pretty good. As far as the defense saving them I'll respond the same as when people say we don't have many "quality" wins: finding a way to win has always been the mark of a championship team. Nuff Said

  • Whats the name of the first song?

    Its great

  • and also a ring

  • How are they forgotten? It seems baffling to me. AMAZING.

  • Best LB Corps in the history of the NFL...

  • Probably the best defense that ever played in the Superdome. (Out of all the teams that played there)

  • voughan johnson was the most vicious 1...miss watching him play

  • if we had had ouroffese like we have today we wuld have won like 3-4 superbowls seriousy

  • offense* would*

  • Did they play a 3-4 with those guys or what?

  • Yes

  • Damn good memories..what an awesome "D"

  • Wow... memories. I remember offensive coordinators wanted no part of these guys. They would have punted on 1st down every time if they could and the player would have been fine with that.

The perfect storm... I haven't seen anything like it since.

  • now, defensivecoordintors want no part of they electrifying offense!!!

    WHO DAT!!!

  • Dome Patrol/ Steel Curtain for life

  • argueably one of the best linebacking cores ever

  • the dome patrolm were some tough motherfuckers

  • I cant believe we didnt win a superbowl with this roster.

  • Can you imagine how many SuperBowls would have been won with this defense and the offense today under Drew! I consider the Steelers of the 70's the best team of all time. We would have been right there with them. Damn....coulda, woulda, shoulda.

  • it was because of our offence but it doesnt matter we're going to have a winning season this year

  • If we would have had a Drew and that high power offense back then...Sigh

  • Ricky Jackson, Pat Swilling, Vaughn Johnson, and Sam Mills were there greatest set of linebackers to ever be on the same team.

  • why isnt ricky in the hall man

  • I know right ... He definitely should be

  • no the saints dont have any hall of famers cause i checked on madden 09 cause you can see all of the hall of fame players

  • earl campbell and jim taylor are in the hall

  • na i jus googled it and earl campell played for the oilers and jim taylor played for green bay

  • both played for the saints as well

  • yes but they are not our hall of fame players yes they played for them but didnt go to the hall of fame with our team

  • NFL players aren't inducted into hall of fame for a particular team, it ain't like in MLB. Also Jim Finks and Doug Atkins are in the hall.

  • But on madden 09 it says no one from the New Orleans saints is in the hall of fame

  • because EA sucks and cant do their job properly

  • but its not EA its the nfl who has to list the stats rosters hall of fame and madden moments so your saying the NFL sucks at their job like come on this is rediculous two saints fans fight over this

  • im not fighting, just correcting you.

  • @cuttywith22 he is now

  • @cuttywith22 He is now.

  • im a panthers fan and i just have to compliment of this defense

  • well at least your not a dick like other people and say they sucked only because they are not fond of this team

  • They were pretty sick, who do you have Hilliard and a decent WR? Those LBs were amazing. Eagles!

  • damn we were good as hell on d back in the day

    saints! 09-10 champs

  • Awesome video.

Too bad there doesn't seem to be any videos of the '91 Eagles defense.

  • Can someone put this video to Public Enemy - Welcome To The Terrordome?

  • nice,2009 defense will stand out!

  • oh man!! Absolutely great vid! What I wouldn't give to have a defense like that now!

    saintsfanaticscom

  • 2009 defense is gonna be like this i feel

  • yeah, Gregg Williams certainly seems to have lighted a fire under their butts! I love it!

  • oh yeah,superbowl 2009!
