Carlos Vega is a old professional, he plays very dynamically... in the middle part he leaves room for the audience. Also i am pretty shure the mix changes from more direct to more ambient and vice versa. Additionally maybe they adjusted the compression a bit wrong.
@zbestwun2001 James lost some people very close to him in the 90's. First, his brother Alex in 1993, who died on his birthday of all days (March 12), Don Grolnick, who was his best friend and his music arranger for many years and of course Carlos Vega, the drummer here, which nobody saw coming.
Carlos Vega supreme master of the shuffle!

Wow, that man on the right seen from 3:12 to 3:18 looks like JT when he was younger. Incredible.

For years, I've found it odd that the bass and snare drums cut out midway through the song and the band just keeps on playing like nothing's wrong.

Yeah, that's probably people clapping... I hate it and always will. The tune's great dough :-)

@timbojones23 What are you talking about? Where do you hear that?
samsticka 1 year ago
@timbojones23 It happens all the way through, especially around 5.10
timbojones23 1 year ago
@timbojones23 It could be just the audience clapping along. I'll tell you though from 4:07 on I can barely hear the snare drum.
