This is the best song ever. It has masculinity, femininity, comedy, tension, poetry, a hammer to crack a walnut. Why it never got to number one, I'll never know. The Danube Delta, the Pyramids of Giza !!!
Brilliant band..amazing how to do this day it still sounds intensely beautiful and unlike anything else. Many thanks to Prolapse for making my years growing up in NYC better.
this rules. one of my favorite bands/songs from the 90s. a lot of the stuff i listened to back then has aged pretty badly, but this still sounds awesome.
Deanshanger on the Chart show?? We never made a vid but it would be good to see what was on it. Maybe you mean Autocade - which I havent copied up to here ...yet. Mainly on account of the bad memories it brings back. Basically you could have bought a house for how much was spent on that video. Not mentioning any figures but it was 30x the Doorstop video, and the Autocade video is horrible - 4 sweaty Prolapse blokes on a treadmill who would want to watch that??
I'm 99.9% i saw a clip for Deanshanger... it was on the indie chart where they played 10-15 secs of each song. The French lyric bit. Maybe they just dubbed the sound onto another video? If i can find it on vhs i'll post it but have a feeling it got taped over.
I also remember Deanshanger on the Chart Show! I think they had a run-down of the Indie chart and Deanshanger was on it. I'm guessing they played the song along to a different video? But, yes, I defintinely remember Deanhanger on the Chart Show.
This band are awesome. I was in a band that supported them at Esquires in Bedford in the mid-90s. I had already owned the CD album with this track on and was in awe of them. It is an unusal concept. Conflict, heavy glaswegian fundamental overtones and beautiful dandy powerful female vocal. They were great live and looking back I think they could have been really big. It would be great if a member of the band could post.

Steve's probably right. They used to patch on just photo shots and some psychedelic swirls for tracks they didn't have vids too.
